any 996 turbo would spank a nsx hardcore. have u heard of the 2011 911 turbo S? 0-60 in 2.7 seconds, tested by car and driver, and motor trend tested it @ 2.6 seconds. that is .1 second slower than a fucking bugatti.

The reason I said the NSX has more than 280hp, is because 3.2 liters of displacement reving to OVER 8,000 rpm, means around 100hp/L especially since the car has been around since 1990. Just that the gov't does not want more than 280 hp.

New Porsche have better suspension system, too much electronic that controls, better brake system, more powerful engines, better aerodynamic. New GT3 or GT3RS are far better than NSX-R even, but in 1990s NSX was better than older Porsche.
Except the NSX gets 0-60 in mid 5 seconds, it's a 6 cylinder. MR car 3.2L 290HP vs '96 911 Carrera 4S, I think that's it correct me if I'm wrong. 3.6L 6 Cyl Boxer engine w/ 400HP and AWD.
NSX is an exceptional track car w/ its MR mount giving it good weight distribution/handling. But I highly doubt the NSX winning in a drag. My friend owns a Black 98' NSX Tagra, and it's pretty even with my G35.
Yeah, the BODY maybe fancy like a Ferrari or Lambo, but it can't compare with power.
But isn't the NSX coming back w/ a V10?? Except it's a FR mount... when the V10 comes out I'm pretty sure it'll be compared with Lamborghini, Porsche[higher end], and Ferrari. But the V6 NSX is no drag car.
Almost right but it's only the turbocharged "Turbo" and GT2 models of this model 911 (993) that produced 400hp. The spec at the start is correct, 285hp. Got a feeling though that the race is unfair not because of any bias towards the NSX in driving but I think the porsche is the 4 speed tiptronic box which would be much slower both off the line and quarter mile time than the 6 speed manual. Having said all that a manual 4S of this year should be doing it in 13.5 so not much faster than this!
Also worth pointing out here that the 4 wheel drive system not only adds weight to the porsche but increases drivetrain losses. More hp from the NSX engine is actually making it to the ground. This is also a Type S NSX which is slightly lightened weighing just 1320kg vs the 1420kg of the Porsche. The video is only biased in that they put the NSX up against a 4S rather than against a Turbo or GT2. The Turbo is heavier again at 1575kg so that would be a closer race.

They are reliable..produce extremely fuel efficient hybrids and strung out 2L motors, when coupled with good brakes...a good gearbox and extremely well setup chassis...provide for a very fun and useful tool around the track. Honda have a philosophy and have always stuck to it. Why? Because it's proven to work. Don't be fooled by all the "ricer" shit that idiots tend to put on Honda's. There are a number of GOOD cars that Honda make...the NSX is the peak of them.
And so it comes down to personal preference. You wouldn't pay for a Honda NSX...and I'd pay for one over any and all of those cars you have mentioned. I bought a $12k MR2 turbo (aus) and I'm thoroughly glad I did. I'd take it over STi's and Evo's which cost alot more and share similar performance. It's the uniqueness, style and presence on the road that I like about my car and also the NSX and personally I think that makes it worth the money.

Flat engines are engines with opposite piston formation mostly 180 degree, while V formation is between 72-75 to 120 degree depends about design. NSX V6 is 90 degree engine while Porsche have 180 degree engine. V-formation may have 2,4,5,6,8,10,12,16 cylinders in 2 banks, Flat engines may also have 2,4,6,8, and 12 cyls but opposite in also 2 banks. Inline engines are usually with 2,3,4,5,6 or 8(older) cylinders.
Also there's many other engine designs like radial, rotary...

And, stringing all these together very, very fast and smoothly for that matter is about 1000 times more difficult than just mashing the gas and upshifting.

The 4S is about 300lb heavier than the Type-S.
The 4S is AWD, which means more drive-line power loss compared to the Type-S
And the Type-S has better aerodynamics for the top end.
I'm not sure why they didn't use an RWD Porsche, or the 4S Turbo. Maybe it was a price based comparison.

Except the NSX gets 0-60 in mid 5 seconds, it's a 6 cylinder. MR car 3.2L 290HP vs '96 911 Carrera 4S, I think that's it correct me if I'm wrong. 3.6L 6 Cyl Boxer engine w/ 400HP and AWD.
NSX is an exceptional track car w/ its MR mount giving it good weight distribution/handling. But I highly doubt the NSX winning in a drag. My friend owns a Black 98' NSX Tagra, and it's pretty even with my G35.
Yeah, the BODY maybe fancy like a Ferrari or Lambo, but it can't compare with power.

Almost right but it's only the turbocharged "Turbo" and GT2 models of this model 911 (993) that produced 400hp. The spec at the start is correct, 285hp. Got a feeling though that the race is unfair not because of any bias towards the NSX in driving but I think the porsche is the 4 speed tiptronic box which would be much slower both off the line and quarter mile time than the 6 speed manual. Having said all that a manual 4S of this year should be doing it in 13.5 so not much faster than this!

Also worth pointing out here that the 4 wheel drive system not only adds weight to the porsche but increases drivetrain losses. More hp from the NSX engine is actually making it to the ground. This is also a Type S NSX which is slightly lightened weighing just 1320kg vs the 1420kg of the Porsche. The video is only biased in that they put the NSX up against a 4S rather than against a Turbo or GT2. The Turbo is heavier again at 1575kg so that would be a closer race.

And so it comes down to personal preference. You wouldn't pay for a Honda NSX...and I'd pay for one over any and all of those cars you have mentioned. I bought a $12k MR2 turbo (aus) and I'm thoroughly glad I did. I'd take it over STi's and Evo's which cost alot more and share similar performance. It's the uniqueness, style and presence on the road that I like about my car and also the NSX and personally I think that makes it worth the money.

Flat engines are engines with opposite piston formation mostly 180 degree, while V formation is between 72-75 to 120 degree depends about design. NSX V6 is 90 degree engine while Porsche have 180 degree engine. V-formation may have 2,4,5,6,8,10,12,16 cylinders in 2 banks, Flat engines may also have 2,4,6,8, and 12 cyls but opposite in also 2 banks. Inline engines are usually with 2,3,4,5,6 or 8(older) cylinders.
Also there's many other engine designs like radial, rotary...

People play the "handling" card because it's a vital part of what makes a sports car. Just cuz you can go straight fast dont mean squat on a track (where sports cars were born btw) Otherwise, my uncle's supercharged ford pickup truck with 500 horses would be considered a sports car.

But, you're comparing apples to oranges. obviously a 911 and a NSX are not drag cars. They are fined tuned machines capable of incredibly high limits in every department. They are meant to be raced on a track, not a drag strip. Real driving requires complete control over a car. Like the brakes, throttle, and steering. And, stringing all these together very, very fast and smoothly for that matter is about 1000 times more difficult than just mashing the gas and upshifting.

the newer z4 was not created to be a sports car (unless were talking about a z4m) the z4 3.0 is more of a cruiser car. I wanted something that didnt just look good, I wanted something that preformed well and still looked good. Recently the prices of the M3 dropped due to the new E92m3 comming out so I picked up an E46m3
