Me too! If you are a turtle fan, then you will like this series. I will have more turtles, even a rare find! All reptiles are awesome, I hope you enjoy the new episode of Reptile Ridge!
I really like this video and the respect you have for wildlife.
The first snake looks like an Eastern Coachwhip. I can't make out the second snake but it doesn't look like a watersnake or cottonmouth to me. The body shape and length just doesn't add up. It may be a racer or a ratsnake. The third one is and Eastern Hognose Snake and the last one is a cottonmouth.
Thanks for the super nice comment.:) I enjoy all your videos too. You are very knowlegable of reptiles, I thank you for helping identify the snakes. This is the first hognose I've filmed, what a gorgeous snake! I think you're right about the one in the water, it looks like a ratsnake to me as well. I moved a big one from the road yesterday, seeing lots of ratsnakes. You take care, happy herping, thanks for watching.:)
The waters are up here also. I went kayaking at Dale Hallow and the rocky beach I filmed the butterfly at (from butterfly dream) was totally under water. I was able to kayak back into the woods and it kept going back. I wanted to keep exploring but Casey Jo was waitng at the beach on the other side of the lake. Beautiful snakes! We had a box turtle in Granny's yard but one of the great grand children caught it and took it home :>(
The water's down now, almost dry in some spots. So hot here right now it's like Death Valley. We desperately need some rain. All the creeks are drying up, makes it hard to find salamanders.:(
I've rescued many box turtles from the road in the past weeks, they are very active now, I hope they take care of the turtle, they can be hard to keep. They need just the right conditions to thrive.
That snake at 5:32 is a moccassin, you can tell by looking at its eyes, the moccasins eyes are verticle slits... but still never aproach one cos its hard to tell.
How long have you had your anoles, and what are you feeding them?
lol, Some of them are aggressive, some pretty easy-going, kinda like people. If you have all males they will fight. Only keep 1 male with a few females, they get along much better that way.:)
i have had my anoles for about a year now. i have one female and one male.i feed them a variety of food.well...banana,meal worms, and crickets.there in mating season and i can barley put my hand in there cage.the male will run for me and bite me!there must be eggs in there somewhere.there always brown too.i mean there tempature is fine and its nice and moist.i just think there cocky. :p thanks for the help!
lol, They are aggressive! It's funny, green anoles stay brown more thn green sometimes. They like temps around 85, and can take even cooler. You might have some eggs in there. Good luck with them, sounds like you are taking really good care of them. Make sure the UV light is ok, sometimes when the light goes bad they will stop eating.
I'm really glad you're enjoying this series. I've got some really good anole footage, a funny territorial "dispute". Will see the beginning of it in episode 7.
What equipment do you use for reptile ridge?? it has amazing quality and I was intrested... also do you have any pets? You seem very knowledgeble with animals...
Many pets. We rescue dogs, cats & reptiles. My 20 something yr old igauna just passed away. I have a skink ,several turtles. I've studied animals all my life. I love nature. Just something I enjoy.:)
My camera is a Canon VIXIA HV30 mini DV camcorder, shoots in full 1080 HD. I've been a fan of Canon for years. I use an Olympus still camera also.
