  • Thanks for "Fortunate Son". P.S. CCR - Fortunate Son.

  • 1:46 Woot woot!

  • @SwankeyMonkey

    Shes a fine lookin lady

  • Get some. Get some. yeah

  • nothing like some creedence while your killing VC

  • my respect to all DGM brothers "And lo. . . I beheld a pale rider astride a dark horse 30"

  • my cousins shootin 240s off blackhawks in afghanistan right now, almost got drilled by an rpg the other day.. scared the shit outta him haha god bless america<3

  • Door gunners definitely deserve this tribute, their life expectancy in Nam was very short.

  • @pre9120 this is based on your movie watching experiences?

  • ok

  • WOW, any you guys get out a 5h grade? to talk like that? The dude simply made a tribute..its where his hart is, go make your own tribute.

Also you transparently do not know what a door gunner/CE even is.

I know we droped off a lot of infantry and picked them brave shot off ases back up!

Was no picnic taking fire, Knowing the VC had me in their cross hairs

  • A very underappreciated job by brave soldiers!

  • helicopter gunners? i mean yeah they risked their life serving their countries, but infatrymen have so much more danger in their serving. if you're gonna make a tribute do it for infatrymen.

  • @SOFTIHUVVET SHUT THE FUCK UP RETARD EVERYONE DESERVES A TRIBUTE IF I HAD A HELICOPTER WITH A DOOR GUNNER I"D SHOOT YOU

  • @SquirtToast Helicopter gunners were rarely inprisoned in Vietnamese prison camps, forced to play russian roulette with another soldier or forced experiencing other horrible tortures during the Vietnam War, and helicopters have only been used in three major US conflicts; Vietnam, The Cold War, and The War in The Middle East. I'm not dissing Heli Gunners here, they deserve a tribute too, but I just thought it was odd how you have not uploaded a tribute to more common units, such as infantrymen.

  • @SOFTIHUVVET A soldier is a soldier in my book; they all deserve a tribute. One is not better than the other they're all fighting for the same thing. If your to narrow minded to figure this out, I'm done wasting time on you. Don't expect a reply back after this one you ignorant piece of shit .I'm not going to continue a pointless argument on YouTube. Thanks

  • @SOFTIHUVVET Dude i was an infantrymen, served in iraq. I am now a crew chief on blackhawks. Believe me flying in something that isnt supposed to fly is alot more dangerous. There is more to it than you can imagine

  • @buffaloSabrespommy I'm sorry for my ignorance. But maybe you should try explaining to people instead of raging like hell.. :) (no offense). good luck in the middle east (if you're still serving)

  • @buffaloSabrespommy Thank you for your service sir....It is greatly appriciated

  • to abcd1234781, Join the Army as a 15T (blackhawk repairer). you'll end up in a maintenance company for awhile but you'll get your chance to be a crew chief (door gunner). lots of work but fun. if you wanna fire the fun stuff (mini guns) put in a packet for the 160th once your in!

  • anyone know in which branch you would most likely see combat as an ariel gunner?

  • @abcd1234781 If you can swim, join the Marine Corps, go helo's and aircrew, we shoot .50's, 240's and GAU-17's(mini guns) to be honest though it is a shitload of hard work, you spend most of your time working on the aircraft and a fraction of it flying. Both Army and Marine Corps constantly have helo's in combat lately but with Iraq shutting down and Afghanistan winding down you might not make it through training in time to see combat.

  • @dphitch And that's what we want right? To kill everything we see? Well I'll just speak for myself, cause I'm not American.

  • song?

  • @MrXxJASKAxx Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

  • Best seat in the house!

  • my uncle got to door gun on a blackhawk, he sent me a vid it was BADASS

  • 1:46 i would let her shoot at me

  • @nabiscobacon You think she was a gunner? I was under the impression that they couldn't serve in combat roles? or does that mean they just can't be infantry?

  • @viper8red Shes throws a punch , you best be ready throw one back or you a SUCKA ! Women will kill you dead sure as any Ape man out there . Put them in Combat ! Id rather have women fighting along me then some closet cock sucker trying to sniff my mopp gear

  • @viper8red aside from that retard just being a retard. id like to really answer. no, they can't serve infantry but they can serve in support. I.E. fighter jets, support craft, convoys. that kinda thing. so i just deduced that she was a gunner.

  • @nabiscobacon I know they can be support but is gunner considered support? I thought they were not allowed to fire upon the enemy? Wouldn't a combat gunner be considered combative? I'm honestly not sure if they are allowed to be gunners. My gut says she was probably just posing with it and that she probably isn't. Pilots, yes, and all other types of support roles yes. I think they should be allowed to do anything they want. Let them die for their country if that is their wish.

  • @viper8red While there are a few different reasons women arent allowed to serve as combatents, here's one that they cant change . Ever heard of Big Brother syndrome? Male soldiers doing stupid shit and getting themselves killed or their entire unit killed itrying to either impress or save a female. It's a very real thing and has happened in situations where women have ended up in combat situations unintentionaly.

  • And 2 min 31 secs its just dark and black.

  • God Bless you all. Garry Owen!!!

  • What's fucked up is to think of all the lives taken on the ground. Kids, women, old people, animals...all had nothin to do with this shit. Then you gotta live with what you done.

  • I wanna do that...

  • how sick would it be to fucking blast dude outta the side of a helicopter with a gun as big as king kongs dick...fuckign body parts flying everywhere and no place to hide form a 50 cal machine gun knocking at ya door!!!!

  • Thanks for the tribute and some of the nam pictures. The lady gunner could protect my 6 anytime >> grins.

  • I was watching the video and what a surprise to see Bill Rutledge in the very last photo. I took that picture sometime in the first half of 1971 at the short strip Det-8 Rach Gia. The negative of that photo is in an envelope less than 2 feet from my computer screen. In 1971 the “short strip” was packed dirt, gravel and black top runway. Now looking at it on Google Earth the runway is a paved flower line street near the triple arches in Rach Gia.

Mike Madrid Seawolf door gunner ROH

  • door gunners saved a lot grunts over the years, god bless them all.

  • 2:00 woods...

  • my dad was a gunner in vietnam on chinooks 101st airborne. im looking to go in as a medic myself well thatbwas the plan more i see choppers makes me wanna be more thn a flight medic im thinking bout becoming a rotary wing aviator. good vid.

  • Get some!

  • would have been cool to see a mark 19 mounted on one of those helos

  • @TXIxArkxAngel some of them did have mark 19s on them..

  • @yakanies didnt see any

  • @TXIxArkxAngel there not in the pictures but they some of them do have em on th nose of the huey and some other vids.

  • @yakanies i knew they can have em ive just never seen one mounted on a heli besides a chinook

  • my grandad was in nam in 68-69....in soctrang, south vietnam....he was a huey mechanic...then wanted to have his own bird so he was a crew chief/door gunner....god bless those who serve....thank god he came back.

  • is it just me or is the girl at 1:47 really cute

  • @hockeybeast234 I think that a female with a minigun rates a little more than "really cute"

  • Anyone that stands still, is a well-disciplined VC!

  • 8 ppl need to go jump in a lake ( from a fast flyin low level CH-53 :P )

  • That's weird, I didn't know they had simulators for Door Gunners..

  • get some!

  • @futurefirefighter93 1st you will need to become a crew chief on a UH-60 or a CH-47. You will then need to qualify with a ground M240 then you will go on to the aerial M240. I never got to use the M240, I only used the M60. If you want to be really high speed and low drag, keep your nose clean and apply for the 160th. Lots of neat toys there to shoot out the side of your aircraft.

  • browning HB 2 ftw

  • women in the door ruins it

  • HA! Vulcan Mini gun XD

  • Awesome, my favorite author was a door gunner in Nam for two tours.

  • AWESOME clip.....I miss when I was a SH-3 Helicoptor crewman! Some Great Memories;...also got some flight time in UH1's and CH-53....

  • Boy, this brings back memories to an old Vietnam Air Cavalry Door Gunner. I remember that when you were taking fire and taking hits, it sounded like someone was whacking the airframe with a hammer handle. “Whack, whack, whack…!” I just hoped it didn’t hit anyone or make the Slick go down again.

  • by the way, Martin Luther King jr was not correct. Russia and China then and now make us seen like Church mice. you really have no understanding of world events and the evil that exists. you never will because you are so consumed with hate yourself you are blind.

  • @blueduster74 always remember, We are responsible for the crimes that we do, not the crimes that other people do.

  • WHERE IS FLYNN?????

  • I am a crewchief on a uh-60 so this is cool

  • What exactly is the song name?

  • @chief99922 ccr fortunate son

  • As far as this being a protest, t'ain;t so. Tom was from middle class and so were his friends (who were the largest indiv in military). He was criticize by those bands who did protest but refuse because a lot of his friends where in military. Me I went VN 4 times as Recon Sgt, which doesn't mean anything, just doing what i was told to do along with a bunch of others Grunts (God bless them).

  • Or... lets get back to the point of this posting... a tribute to Helicopter door gunners. Take your political blogging to the "All Talk, No Clue" section of the Craig'sList forums...

  • @HitmanofHeaven In other words, no critical thinking. The gunners are there, gunning people down, because of political reasons. How many of the pictures were taken while they were defending the US from on outside attack? None. US is an empire (imperialism=pillage) the gunners are working for it. With out the context, even the Nazi gunners need to be honored.

  • @niev0000 you're a fucking odiot

  • @niev0000 spoken like a true pussy who never served as a door gunner ;)

  • @hueyrotorhead spoken like a true nazi. LOL. If I criticise a nazi guard of a concentration camp it must be that I'm talking like a true pussy who never served as a nazi guard. LOL,

When was the last time that the door gunners protected the US against a foreign attack?

  • @niev0000 How original to keep using the the Nazi comparison. That takes real thought.

  • @hueyrotorhead You guys are always using the Nazis for your warmongering games. Ortega is worst than Hitler Reagan said. "Gadaffi is Hitler" Bush senior said, "Saddam is Hitler". "We can't allow another holocaust" etc etc. Always the same paranoia. On the other hand, when you guys commit crimes, war crimes, nobody can compare you or your leaders to Nazis. Listen, Hitler himself said that he was inspired by what the Americans did to the Indians. That takes real thought to be ignored.

  • @niev0000 You obviously have "issues", but that's your right. War crimes, funny, who does the oppressed call when they are in a world of shit?

  • @hueyrotorhead The whole world wants the US in its borders. Nobody is calling you except the dictators of the world like Mubarak or the Saudi Kingdom. You turned Iraq into another Haiti. remember the US supported saddam during his worse crimes. This is what you do: /watch?v=t3w1tg6Dt2E

This is a great example of your noble service: watch?v=FbIX1CP9qr4

  • @niev0000 Hmm let me see, a quick internet search using niev0000 to look for assisting other nations turned up a big fat zero, but when I google USA world assistance, guess what? It's endless. By the way you might want to google Haitian assistance from the US for earthquake relief efforts.

  • @hueyrotorhead You are changing the subject. Thanks for mentioning Haiti. Let me give you some lessons.

When haiti became independent in 1804, the US didn't recognize Haiti and blocked it. It lasted 60 years. US has invaded Haiti more than any other country. US was behind the installation of the Haitian dictators (Duvaliers) US was behind the overthrowing of the only democratic government of Haiti (Aristide). US bans the most popular political party (Lavalas). Haiti is poor thanks to US.

  • @hueyrotorhead BTW, do a internet search for "US opposed minimum wage rise in Haiti", despite hunger. It came out last week. Is in the news. US assisting nations is similar to the donations that the Mafia used to give to charities.

  • @niev0000 So what other country is helping you?

  • @hueyrotorhead you are changing the subject again. You help people like the Saudi Kingdom. Is it true that US re-established slavery in Nicaragua? Do you know how many dictators work for the US?

  • @niev0000 Changing the the subject? Not really. I could care less what you think. I'm a red, white, and blue infidel till the day I die and there are millions of us who are proud to be just that.

  • @hueyrotorhead changing the subject again? to an emotional one? poor you, you can't come with historical facts and you have to hide in your nationalist fanaticism. "I'm red white and blue" blah blah blah. Empty words that reflect propaganda, dogmatism and irrational jingoism. Don't worry about what I think. Worry about the facts. Did or didn't US supported Saddam during his worse crimes? watch?v=r42oejmpkgw

  • @niev0000 Millions of us :)

  • @hueyrotorhead and millions more are against what you do. many of your millions of loyalists do it because they don't know the facts, they are victims of propaganda and dogmatism. Can't see the light.

  • @hueyrotorhead Millions of Germans supported the invasion of Poland. Millions.

  • @hueyrotorhead Look at the facts: UN resolution that Afirms the right of every state to choose its economic and social system in accord with the will of its people, without outside interference in whatever form it takes.

131-1 (131 countries supported this resolution while the US is the only country that opposed it).

In 1983 the world voted in the Resolution against apartheid South Africa. 145-1.

Guess which country supported South Africa's Apartheid?

  • @niev0000 Maybe the Huffington Post or Amy Goodman will listen to you and your far left ideas.

  • @hueyrotorhead you are changing the subject again. Did or didn't the US supported South Africa Apartheid? And you call that "US helping the world"?????

Have you ever heard of the Iran-contras? What about the killing of priests in El Salvador? Did you know that the killers were trained in the USA?

If it is a fact, is it right or left? LOL

  • @niev0000 And just maybe we have our optic sights on you now, do you hear the black helicopters coming?

  • @hueyrotorhead Is it true that the US is oppose to a raise of the minimum wage in Haiti?

  • @niev0000 It is really easy to see where this is going. So whats your opinion on the U.S. support of Israel? The killers that you speak of were taught military tactics at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. This is the same school that originated in Panama in 1946 and has been supported by South America for how many years now? A whole bunch if my math is correct. The "killer" that were sent were killers to begin with.

  • @chjcmo, you have shit for brains, you leftist POS.

  • I find it ironic that I got here from a clip of the crazy "Get Some" guy from Full Metal Jacket.

  • @Verminator4 well shit most of the people who watched this did too.

  • @Verminator4 so did i. one second one dude says "cuz im so fuckin good" next second im looking at a tribute. wtf?

  • @Verminator4 LOL SAME FOR ME XD

  • @Verminator4 hahahahah LMAO

  • @Verminator4 too rite!

  • @Verminator4 hes not crazy if he has like 100 kills

  • I WON'T JUDGE YOU IF YOU DON'T JUDGE ME

YOU IDIOT DOOR GUNNER JOHN says GOD THE SUPREME BEING JOKER :-)

  • nice tribute. did a little of that out of a Sh-60 in the 90s. not the same though. you guys have my respect.

  • Wow! That gun is wild at 1:42..Hats off!

  • sweetypie000 The motto "Death From Above" was the motto of airborne units and the motto came into being considerably before Vietnam. I believe that it derived from WWII. Golly Gee Y'all sure sound ignorant as hell to those of us who know what's real!

  • It was not so much an anti-war song as an anti-Al Gore song.

On another note. The motto of Army Aviation in Vietnam was "Above the Best" meaning that we served to aid and protect the Infantry soldiers who did the real dirty, hard, and dangerous job on the ground. My utmost respects to the grunt who carried the burden and the brunt of that ugly war!

  • @TheRobinhooddoc Every branch of the Army is out to support the Infantry! 13B called the King of Battle, but the fact is we are supporting a Forward element .i.e Mechanized or leg Infantry Battalion. I was Airborne so I call Leg a leg. later 19K and thats the only time i felt on par with Infantry, they support me and Amored supports them , then you have Engineers who build the bridges blow up the obstacles, clear the mines COMBINED ARMS. Im to old to be out humping any more, My legs need steroid

  • "Fortunate Son" was written to address Al Gore's service in Vietnam. Because he was the son of a then serving Senator, he served as a correspondent was issued bodyguards, and did not expose himself to the daily risks that those of us who were not "Fortunate Sons" were obligated, as a requirement of our respective positions, to assume those risks on a daily basis..

  • @TheRobinhooddoc Alot folks sit in that bunker. Good place to keep from being KIA'd , Alot folks go to theater but there rear support. They might get ambushed. Theres a difference between infantry Officer and transportation officer who do you want to lead you? Im to old for war i did my gig back in the eighties and its over, my legs shot! ill need a shot steroids to keep up but thats illegal , You might look like wrestler and scare to many of the North koreans. Ill go M.I. they have it good.

  • burnticeblues,

Have you been a stupid fuck all your life, or are you just working extra hard at it with this insipid offensive remark?

I served as a Door Gunner in Vietnam 1967-tet-1968. You don't have what it takes to hold any gunners jockstrap!

  • @TheRobinhooddoc Thank You Man and Welcome Home.

  • YEH KILL EVERYONE ON EACH SIDE YEH burn their children and shoots metal rounds through the guts of old women. fuk yeh

  • DOOR GUNNERS ! ThaT WAS A PURPLE HEART POSITION! ALOT OF THEM KILLED BEFORE THE HUEY WENT DOWN.THOUSANDS OF HUEYS SHOT DOWN IN NAM! THERES PROBABLY WREAKAGE OF THEM OUT THERE IN VIETNAM.RIP!

  • @spacecop67 They were not suppose to be there in the first place.

  • @niev0000 Yea your right! they improvised. I saw some footage of early Air Assualt missions in Vietnam and you can see the crew chief armed with carbine! I guess they upgraded as the war progress, Ive seen Photos of the Slicks with .50's on both sides,. When i was at FT Eustis in 2002 the Crew Chief demands intellegently smart soldiers. Its not easy being crew chief and the whas out rate is over 50% , I was there as 88N. I had three MOS prior 19K 13 B , There were re enlisted soldiers there try

  • death from above

    not in my name.

RIP all those that have fallen

  • How many senator's sons have the opportunity to kill bad guys on the run?

  • what is the name of this song?

  • @kelvenkill really?

  • @kelvenkill Fortunate Son by CCR

  • @kelvenkill Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

  • My dad was a door gunner and crew chief, he told some stories about nam and when they were in the air they would set on a 1" steel plate and if they were on the ground they would take the plate and put it up against there chest.

  • for all you thinking of being an ariel gunner or door gunner, you should probably know that it is much harder then you think considering its not like fucn black ops. and your in an open door with your MG also you have no protection and when a helo is in the sky and theres ground trooops on the ground the enemy start firing all they got at you. i want to be an ariel gunner in the USMC if you have questions look up "MOS 6199"

  • am i the only one who noticed the @ minutes of black video?

  • I worked with a door gunner from Vietnam. Charles Clench was there in 68 or 69. Told me his experiences and I can only imagine what it was like.

  • "GETS SOME"

  • two terrorists disliked this

  • @connerm191 lol, funny... terrorists... boo.. they died

  • I paused it at 1:45 and just lusted.......

  • @unapro3 female soldiers are awesome. :P

  • You picked the right song. The Vietnamese bands loved to play CCR for us even though the words were a little distorted. That Gatling gun was an awesome mind boggling piece of equipment.. It was a night light of fireworks that was unreal to watch and a demon of hell to those it was aimed at.

  • Nice video. I loved shooting out of a Huey but the Blackhawk sucked. Freaking pintle mount folded umpteen different ways. :O

  • ANYONE WHO RUNS IS A VC

ANYONE WHO STANDS STILL IS A WELL-DISCIPLINED VC

  • Does anyone else think it's funny that the creator of the video chose a war protest song?

  • @RustyShackelfurt I agree Rusty, while a nice beat... it's an anti-war song and totally misplaced here..

  • @RustyShackelfurt

The true irony is the people who are fortunate to live in a country where they can protest against war because someone else is ready to man up and fight for the them. Let the naysayers try to protest against the powers that be in places like Russian or Iran and see how long before their are black bagged and "processed" in some dingy cell with only a greasy algerian with a car battery and jump leads for company.

  • Dale? Dale Gribble?

  • Door gunners are the unsung heroes that have stopped very many helicopters from being killed by communist gooks / drugged insane sand niggers.

    and extremist niggers.

    maybe some commie crackers

  • In honor of fallen gunner 23 y/o Marvin R. Calhoun Jr. KIA on Sept. 21, 2010 in Zabul Afghanistan along with four other fellow crew members. Thank you for your willingness and selfless sacrifice to defend the Unites States and her freedoms and interests. You all are American heroes! Our world is a safer place thanks to your commitment and sacrifice. My family will always be indebted to all the American servicemen and servicewomen of both past and present conflicts for their service. GOD SPEED!!

  • kickn asssssssssssssssss

  • kickn ass

  • Do a search for Guardian Six Pack... it's original 8mm footage of six Nam door-gunners who flew with the 13th Combat Aviation Battalion Commander.

  • Do a search for Guardian Six Pack... it's original 8mm footage of six Nam door-gunners who flew with the 13th Combat Aviation Battalion Commander.

  • It was a wild ride and beyond imagination. Going from Recon Scout/Tunnel Rat it was the only real option for an adrenialin junky... 2plt Gunships Blackhorse 11thacr won the Presidential Unit Citation for a platoon. Three gunships. 3 doorgunner 2 pilots dead... Glory always has it price. Hell bent flying 15' off the ground protecting the Grunts... They were our most important mission and there was nothing we wouldn't do to protect them. After that experience everything else is pretty boring

  • I know that if I was a door gunner, I wouldn't be able to stop myself from thinking back to the scene in Full Metal Jacket where they were flying by the vietnamese in the rice field and unloading the M60 at them

  • @berner You watch too much TV, Come on down range son.

  • @katrachosps

It wasn't from watching too much TV. I spent 500 straight days in combat Two Tours in VN. I flew 158 combat missions in a UH1-C Huey Gunship as a door gunner after I left the scouts. I'm old now 62 and my memories are all that I have to compensate for being wounded 5 times. When you have to take a mouthfull of Oxycoden just to get out of bed ... its not from too much TV.!

  • @Thorn11acr That wasn't for you Sir, my message just happen to pop right above yours, it was for "Berner" my total respect for you, and I did read your posting, I can tell when some one is telling the true, I apologize, and Thanks for your service, I always had a great apreciation for the Vietnam Vets to a point that I have a playlist here called Battlefield Vietnam. Drive on great warrior, let us take your place and try to mimic a little your great service to our nation.

  • i sighned up for aireal gunner in the air force i really hope i get the job :)

  • Getting some has never been so Fun!!!

  • i meet a vietnam door gunner once and everyone says that people in vietnam went crazy.thats not true at all he was a cool guy who shot an M-60 out of a Huey.

  • i wanted to be on the CH-53 as a gunner, but active duty in the Corps is so backed up so i i opted for Reserves as a 7234 until i can lat move.... im shippin in 20110103 and will be with MACS 24 as my unit. i will never give up on my ultimate goal of becoming a Ch-53 mech/crew chief

  • It just wouldn't feel like a door gunner video if it didn't have a Vietnam era song.

  • I am guessing that the door gunner had the highest percentage of casualties on a chopper. If that is true, and even if it isnt, I salute you, valiant soldiers of the armed forces.

  • Thanks.

  • Out-effing-standing! Thx for the service AND the video, shellshockman1967. I did an extended tour with HMM-164 just so I could work as a squadron armorer and door gunner in 68 (but first arrived in-country in late 66). Still remember it all.

  • my severed in Vietnam and in the 1991 gulf war and my mom severed in iraq both of em were in the ARMY proud ARMY brat =)
