"Dr." Wesley Stafford told Focus on the Family this,
"Haiti ... has been a disaster in almost every way long before this ever struck. And it is a nation, between you and me, I guess, that SATAN HAS HAD ABSOLTELY FREE REIGN IN THAT NATION. And while the missionary effort and the church effort has been enormous, this is a nation that YOU CAN LITERALLY FEEL THE EVIL IN IT."
This breaks my heart. I love Compassion. To all those who sponsor children in Haiti, keep praying and know that your child has an eternal hope, no matter the outcome. Praying for those who are suffering from this disaster.
There are no strings attached 99! Greeks help Greeks, French help French, Americans help Americans, Christians help ALL whether you're a Christian or not. It's sad that you would criticise one religion. I'm sure the non religious organizations are doing great work too, never said they were not. Try spreading love instead of hate. Peace.
Wonderful video. We need more organizations like this to help people who are truly needy. I truly feel, I suppose empathy, for the haitians.
This is why I do not support the US Govt's $100 million dollar aid. This money will go from one government to another government. The money will be used to arm their military, start pointless building projects, secure retirement for Haitian government officials and further poverty in Haiti.
That's why I advocate for the donations to be sent to non-Christian organizations as they have one goal in mind and that's simply to HELP the people with NO strings attached!!
@99minerkc: If you are not a follower of Christ, then this is a logical opinion for you to have. But if you are, how can you reconcile your opinion with these words from Mark 8:36: "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul?"
" May the Lord comfort all of us during this time. May we continue to run the race for Jesus!" Why would your lord comfort you if he caused the disaster to begin with(at least that's what many of your fellow believers say), and you say rune the race for him? Hmm... I'll hold back from further comment!
Thank God for the work that Compassion do around the work. Pray for the children and the people in Haiti. Through Compassion we sponsor a little girl Rose.
God bless the children of Haiti and may they be comforted and protected at this dark time. We sponsor 2 children with Compassion, although they are in Peru and Bolivia. Thank you, Compassion, for all that you do, not only for Haiti, but for all the other countries where your presence is known.
Your God supposedly let this disaster happen, why would he choose favorites "to be with" and murder thousands? If he were my God I would be questioning his morality!
@99minerkc - Unfortunately we live in a broken world. What does your morality say about you when questioning people giving to people whether that is through a religious means that benefits thousands or a humanitarian one that does the same? We Christians want to help all people - including you if you needed it. Peace.
Yes, sadly we do live in a broken world! I'm not saying that Christians are made or even immoral people! I just believe that if you're going to help another person NO STRINGS SHOULD BE ATTACHED! Question: Can a Christian organisation go to Haiti and help without witnessing(including not leaving tracks)to anyone their? I strongly doubt it!
99Minerkc, you are good to believe whatever you want. That's part of being free. :-) No question there. Just so you know, there are NO strings attached when a Christians help others. Christians and Christian organizations go into Haiti and other countries to share the Gospel with Christians and non-Christians. Compassion was in Haiti before the earthquake. And you're correct in your doubt. We love sharing the Word and good news about Jesus and help people in need when they need it. Cheers.
You say there's no strings attached but then say, " Christians and Christian organizations go into Haiti and other countries to share the Gospel with Christians and non-Christians."
Sharing the gospel in my mind is a "string attached" cont:
History has shown that many good people have lived moral lives WITHOUT Christianity! Bring the gospel in and tell people to convert because Jesus loves you and has a free gift for you is nice UNTIL you run into some that say thanks but no thanks! Then you say well, if you don't convert Jesus will condem you to eternal suffering(hell) "SOME FREE GIFT"
Then you have scared the person INTO CONVERTING! That clearly SUCKS! You may noy want to hear that but it's true! OK, so, if there was proof of Heaven, Hell, God, and Jesus that's one thing BUT THERE IS NO PROOF and actually there's VERY LITTLE evidence for the existence of any of those and NONE if you look outside of the bible. cont:
Uneducated people such as those in Haiti will not be able to objectivly "search for the truth! I really despise religion and it's scare tactics! If people kept it to themselves I would be okay with it! Just my opinion. Again, I know many nice Christian people so please don't think I'm a hater of people-I'm not!
99minerkc: I don't think you're a hater. No worries dude. You're correct, there are moral people throughout the ages who have done great things for humanity. There are also a lot of other religions out there who have also helped, not just Christians. When we share the news about how God does indeed loves you and cares for you, why would that upset someone? If a Christian is trying to trick or scare someone into becoming a Christian then they are not Christians. Simple as that. Take care!
Your arrogance shows!! maybe you need to learn about 'MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS! If I need or WANT your prayers I will ask, b ut don't hold your breath as pray has been shown more than once to FAIL!
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours. Now and for ever. Amen
Many of your fellow believers claim that it was your God who allowed this disaster to happen and yet you ask him to the survivors! That's like a mass murderer wiping out thousands of people and then telling the cops who cuffed him to let him bless the survivors with money!! What's wrong with that picture??!!
I think you might have misunderstood my statement. I'm not blessing those survivors with money in Haiti or elsewhere, rather praising God to bless all peoples in Haiti (alive and passed on). Asking for Him to give grace and peace to His people. Money is one form that can help in buying necessities for the people. Praying is another powerful way to help the Haitians. :-)
