Well, if you don't get it, do some research. The music performed was called "The City of Glass Suite" written by a fellow named Bob Graettinger and brought to the public ear by Stan Kenton. They were experimental, explorative, and insanely complex pieces of music that challenged the norms of jazz and eventually had a massive impact on the jazz community.

So in the spirit of this sort of challenging mentality, BD pays tribute to Kenton's bravery by performing a similar stunt as his, challenging the expectations of DCI fans and judges. And you have to admit, this was a bold an innovative move. So instead of criticizing them for doing something different, applaud them for the efforts. This was by no means an easy show to play, much less direct, and I'd say they did a damn good job artistically and technically.

The amount of hatred I have been seeing referring to the Blue Devils is ridiculous and childish. @goVINCE is right. Nobody in the corps is "cocky". They are just really chill and confident and people mistake that for arrogance. I know a lot of the current members and they are definitely not arrogant assholes. Why cant we just enjoy and appreciate what they did? They worked as hard as any other corps out there!!! is that a crime??? We all need to be more mature, GEEZ!!!

Of sorts, but I think that's why this show got so much credit from judges; it was a bunch of nothing that actually worked and made something. And I applaud the bluedevils for having such an abstract show. I personally do not like shows that are so blunt and obvious.

They really are amazing at what they do, which makes it all the more shameful that most of what I've heard about them alludes to them being dicks. I, of course cannot, confirm this myself, for I've never met anyone from the BDs; though one would think that such a renowned ensemble would want to prove themselves nothing but magnanimous in their repute.
