I always thought that "breaking bad" was a bit of a play on words as well. Because the series explores the theme of morality and has so many characters who're morally ambiguous rather than being in any one category like good, evil, villain, hero. They're all shown as human beings who make choices dependant on the circumstances.
In that sense I took it to mean that they were trying to break the traditional concept of "bad" eg. what it really is to be bad, or to be evil.
Well, it's only a prediction but I believe Marie's shoplifting habits will play some kind of crucial part in season 5. I don't know how, but there's no unnecessary story lines in the show.
@soulflyer860 Another website said that "Breaking Bad" means that when someone is on a straight path (good, moral person) and takes detour (Walter starting to sell meth) the detour will branch off more and more to the "bad" path.
the other day they broadcasted breaking bad, sons of anarchy and married with children the same time on cable while i watched the most intriguing doc about swordfish.
Really? I'm not from the South but isn't it fucking obvious what it means? Jesse uses it in the first episode "you're what, like 50 and all of the sudden decide to break bad?" If you can't figure out what it must mean you're just stupid.
@TheDesertFox I think the main player is going to be Walt in the next season. Since you are only halfway through season 3, I'm not gonna completely spoil season 4 for you. When you watch it, you'lll see why Walt might be the next kingpin.

At the end of every episode when his name pops up and it says CREATED BY Vince Gilligan I say to myself 'Vince youve done it again'. Might go down as the best creater of my lifetime.
In Arkansas, the term for grossly misbehaving is "turning ignorant." There is no equivalent expression in Texas, because that's how we act all the time anyway.
I have my ideas. I reckon Skyler, being an author, will write a book about her husband titled 'Breaking Bad'. And that is how the money for the family will be made. Would be a good twist yo...
What makes this show great is that all of it so done so well. The story, the cinematography, the acting, the music. It all fits together perfectly. It gives the vibe that all the people involved are trying really hard to make the show the best it can be.
This show is the highest quality TV show on now, and possibly ever!
That is weird. English is not my first language and I never heard of the expression before, but "Breaking Bad" just sound kind of too much easy too figure out what it means instinctively.
I've stayed away from TV series for about ten years. I can't get into the corny shit that is on TV these days. All of a sudden I caught a fraction of the Breakin Bad pilot on an AMC marathon. After that I seriously watched all three seasons in three days. This is the best show I have ever seen. With this and Ancient Aliens I feel good about the future of TV entertainment. I just hope it doesn't get canned because the mainstream fuck tards want to watch shit on a stick.
I thought it was to do with Walts situation in life. Like when life is okay, you know, you're making money, surviving, you're breaking even. When you're coming out of financial debt or a bad situation you're breaking even. I thought this was a commentary on the hand Walt was dealt, that he was breaking bad, and had a shitty hand dealt to him.
@scottieman2 I do, but I don't. I'd like to see it wrap up nicely before they run it into the ground. I mean I'd love to see it go for a while. But realistically they can only have Walt live so long
@Jmerithew87 Walt pretty much seems in the clear as far as the cancer goes. Yeah he keeps saying he still has cancer, but when was the last time he had any sort of health problems due to the cancer? Wasn't it Season 2 or maybe early Season 3? So I think they could keep it going for a long while. Not sure if they should, but they could.
Great question! I've been wondering about whether I was dumb for not clearly understanding what it meant. I thought it meant "making drugs" or something. Thanks.
I'm glad he named it something that's a regionalism rather than something that everybody's heard about. This way, those not familiar with what that term means, now knows. It expands the mind, you know, to more things outside the little box we're familiar with.
I thought this was Brad Pitt talking

I hate when films/tv shows incorporate the title into a character's script. You can imagine how irritated I've gotten with the James Bond films.
