i believe it actually was lola who were commissioned by ford to build the car, but yes, based off of their own previous car. though i also believe some of the latter mk's were made in house by ford. but then again, they'd bought themselves a descent place to start from, and probably brought in some of the people from lola too.

Yep, as long as a British company designs, engineers, and builds the car, less engine/tran,100% in the UK. LOL. That's where the GT 40 came from. The engine was also heavily tweaked by them, and if I remember right, the trans is German. So much for Ford beyond writing a check to do it all. Google the i fo. GT40 is a British car made by a company which Ford had zero ownership in.
