Interesting that this so called "Miracle of the Sun" has been mentioned even by atheist scientist writers like Carl Sagan in his "Broca's Brain" and "The Demon Haunted World" books, and by Dr Richard Dawkins in his "The God Delusional". They claimed it was caused by "mass histeria". What I read is that some "claimed" they saw the "sun acting funny" and others claimed nothing happened. I tend to believe the second. Nothing happened. The Catholic Church teaches that these are visual aids for authentic Christian prayer. The Catholic Church even cautions Catholics that these objects must not be treated as sources of magical powers. We communicate not to the statues but the persons they represent. The statues and images, as visual aids, showcase the kind of persons we communicate with.
Agreed. I know I keep photographs of my loved ones in my house as they are worthy of love and remembrance - so why shouldn't one keep an image to remember that whom is the most worthy of his love in the House of God Himself?

Never in my whole life did I hear the Catholic Church teaching that Catholics worship the Blessed Mother of Jesus. The Catholic Church teaches that worship is for God alone. It teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints have manifested God's love through their obedience to God's will, their humility, generosity, and love of fellowmen. They deserve to be respected and that their ways of life or good examples are worthy to follow. Be open to learn and internalize the Catholic teachings.

It is a shame the Vatican 2 Mass has been using an invalid consecration for almost 50 years. @Doyler3 - Were they? The "Dance Of The Sun" could be explained by people doing what their mothers always told them not to do, and look at the sun directly, which would appear to do funny things as the sunlight damaged their retinas (though not permanently).
Atheists do not have a "preconceived notion of NO GOD", rather they do not have a preconceived notion that there IS a God.
And finally, this was a Hollywood dramatization of the Fatima story, which may suffer from artistic licence.

Interesting that this so called "Miracle of the Sun" has been mentioned even by atheist scientist writers like Carl Sagan in his "Broca's Brain" and "The Demon Haunted World" books, and by Dr Richard Dawkins in his "The God Delusional". They claimed it was caused by "mass histeria". What I read is that some "claimed" they saw the "sun acting funny" and others claimed nothing happened. I tend to believe the second. Nothing happened. Well, according to my mother this is true. She was born in 1915, and was little, but the article was printed in The Detroit News about what had happened. My grandma saved the article for her to see when she was older. The Sun not only came close to the earth, but the article said it was spinning in place. U wont hav or bow before any graven image - neither that of Mary.

When God delivered to us that commandment, the egyptians were worshipping statues of falcons and other earthly beasts. The Bible also states in john 8:44, that the Jews are of the devil. Regarding the use of statues, icons, or images, never in my life did I hear the Catholic Church teaching that we worship these objects. The Catholic Church teaches that these are visual aids for authentic Christian prayer. The Catholic Church even cautions Catholics that these objects must not be treated as sources of magical powers. We communicate not to the statues but the persons they represent. The statues and images, as visual aids, showcase the kind of persons we communicate with.

Never in my whole life did I hear the Catholic Church teaching that Catholics worship the Blessed Mother of Jesus. The Catholic Church teaches that worship is for God alone. It teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints have manifested God's love through their obedience to God's will, their humility, generosity, and love of fellowmen. They deserve to be respected and that their ways of life or good examples are worthy to follow. Be open to learn and internalize the Catholic teachings.

It is a shame the Vatican 2 Mass has been using an invalid consecration for almost 50 years. I remember watching this movie as a very young child, and it leaving a profound impression on me. From that time forward, I always believed that Mary was our helper. I love how I came across this video hearing about the story from scholar just now "me being Muslim", I didn't hear the full story but that her in the name of Fatima, is who we believe in her holiness, the daughter of our prophet Mohammad, the story amazed me. Not that I never believed in such things, but how it's across the globe. Not for one religion but all believers.

Protestants and lots of non-Catholics are very mad to the mother of Jesus.If in the ten commandments, God said, "Honor your father and your mother", it follows that Jesus perfectly honors not only his father in Heaven but also his mother. If we consider Jesus as our brother, friend, and our God, why can we not also consider his mother as our mother too. The mother of Jesus is as human as we are but she deserves to be loved, respected, and appreciated for being chosen as the mother of Jesus

@emajawjaw I'm an ex-Anglican reuniting with Mother Church Rome. Even after getting into Catholicism I still had some old Protestant reservations about Mary and the iconography of the Saints; I thought "Sola Scriptura" and "Sola Iesu" only. After reading your comment, and reading and watching testimonies of probably millions of people to the glory of our Messiah's Mother, I have to say this will make me incorporate the Rosary in my daily prayers.

Never in my whole life did I hear the Catholic Church teaching that Catholics worship the Blessed Mother of Jesus. The Catholic Church teaches that worship is for God alone. It teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints have manifested God's love through their obedience to God's will, their humility, generosity, and love of fellowmen. They deserve to be respected and that their ways of life or good examples are worthy to follow. Be open to learn and internalize the Catholic teachings.
