  • This has made me want to go to Morocco so much. It looks like such a interesting place.

I have spent a lot of time in Beirut, Lebanon and I think they must be quite similar.

  • welll,where is part 2?

  • there's no part 2? :O

  • Great movie. Really strong performances.

  • Thanks for sharing this.

Quite a few kids went trough a similar upbringing. During the late sixties there was quite an expat community Essaouira, many of whom were Americans. By '72, however, when the events in this movie supposedly take place, that expat community had largely disbanded. By '72 many had gone on to Ibiza and Formentara. ... Quite a few of those kids felt much like the Bea and Lucy, in as far as they longed to be able to live a "regular" live to attend a school "back home."

    ;)

  • @DanHadan I felt like this when my parents took me to live in Beirut in 1996. I longed for the structure and normality I had when I was back in the UK and learning to read and write Arabic was so difficult but now I am in my late twenties, I often fantasize about living a life that is free of the restraints my western life now gives me. Mortgages, bills and a high cost of living. I still visit Beirut atleast once a year. It's amazing. My father lives there, although my Mum is in the UK. Thanks!

  • @alecsmith

In retrospect, & seeing how some of those kids evolved, the careers they undertook, it wasn't such a bad experience after all was it? At the very least I was hands on, practical cultural relativism, wasn't it? & it has allowed 4 insights that others can't really grasp. For my part I can only say that these kids grew up to become dedicated social workers, creative engineers, and that in may ways they do appear less stressed, more laid back, living a normal alternative life.

  • To touriaification, I did live there for a year. My husband and son are both moroccan. If you are moroccan and talk about your county like that you should be ashamed of yourself. The moroccan people are wonderful! You are the one that sucks!
