I remember singing this song in chorus while I was in high school. It had been running through my head for days. I'm glad you had posted it. I can't believe I had remembered all the words after all of this time! Great song!
Face it; this is the only type of thing that could possibly wake up all those poor kids/teens lying wasted in the depths of emo/punk.
Living in the present, dreaming of the future, is our only hope...not fascinated by 1978, not 1996...it's TWO THOUSAND ELEVEN! Wake up! Listen to more Alan Parsons!
soon to be just a memory myself but music like this tells who I was for my four sons.I want them to know what kind of music moved my soul and drove my desire. This is definately one they must hear. Life is so precious, take that from one who let the sands go thru his fingers, forgetting time, too, has an end
soon to be just a memory myself but music like this tells who I was for my four sons.I want them to know what kind of music moved my soul and drove my desire. This is definately one they must hear. Life is so precious, take that from one who let the sands go thru his fingers
@prissie44 heard the song many times, but never paid any attention to the lyrics. have to admit, got a lump in my throat. what happened to this kind of thoughtfulness in music, in merely just a few decades? (can you find it anywhere any longer?)
Why do the APP songs all have this certain melancholy air about them? or is it just me.....This song in particular get's right into the heart - I associate it with life as it was a few years back when self employed driving many miles each day with mainly APP for company - those were very special days to me and I wish I could recapture them
@Decibelz15 it sounds wonderful, where can people go to find a picture like that? For i do believe that our true Creator is the essence of all creation, as a sub-atomic particle known as gluon,His open eyes peer out from our very soul...i misbelieve that He judges on any lines but Truth, all else being only the part of what is not, not the What Is. when troubles come, let your heart not fear, follow the truth in your heart and you will be fine...blessings, }:-
Every time I Pass a Hawk or Eagle on the side of the road I ask them to Bless me. They are God's Watchmen. You get to know them because they are territorial and live in the same place. You can pass by and say "hello". I just hope God can hear me say "Hello" through them.
@Hemlat of course He can..All of nature is part of a whole that is one, in a way that doesn't take away from each parts uniqueness....we are IN the Lord, this is the part we don't seem to understand. If He knows the hairs on our heads, surely we are always in His heart and hands
TRUTH ANSWER REVEALED! "He who has ear, let him hear." (Matthew 11:15) "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them shall fall to the ground without your Father."(Matthew 10:29) The same way God allowed thus mass fish, bird die-off, etc... to forewarn mankind about the "Three Days of Darkness, Chastisement and Deliverance" will come. "I tell you all, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish." (Luke 13:5) Le Nghia, ”unworthy servant…” (Luke 17:10) a Capuchin Franciscan
from the 1st l ever heard this song, i was young and wild, and not due for this life for long..there were no videos[so we had to see our own dreams in the song.] when l heard the song i loved it, but it wasn't till i heard the words- l knew it was a love song from my Lord, a prayer for my heart, a chance to throw myself into His arms, and feel true LIFE,not the barren survival of a broken hearted soul looking for TRUTH. He saved my life, he opened me up to theSPIRIT of the Lord, and set me free
I lost my daughter on August 5th...she was only 21. At her memorial at our cottage on lake Michigan we had 4 eagles that stayed with us and flew above us as we scattered her ashes on the lake. The eagle is very symbolic to me...this song is beautiful!! I know she is in Heaven with God, the eagles represented this!!
@Alicia69Andrew In 1977 I lost three very good friends in a boating accident. This record was release just before the funeral. Always reminds of those friends. Sorry for your lost.
I've been an APP fan since '77. This is, and has always been, my favorite song by the group. When I see other videos and read people's comments about how beautiful that song is I always leave a note telling them to listen to this song (or Old and Wise) and then get back to me on what qualifies as a beautiful song. I lost a friend back then to a motorcycle accident, and now can't hear this song without thinking of him. I've told everyone that I want this song played at my funeral.
Alan Parsons, what can one say? ...and the days of this life are but grains of sand as they fall from your open hand..cherish every day with the ones you love.
YemSom- I could't agree more! I've always thought the Dream Within A Dream was the only AP song that affected me that way. Now The Eagle Will Rise Again may have overtaken.
Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.
This song brings back so many memories, like the memory of my father driving down a country road under the afternoon sun as we listened to this song on the radio i was just a kid but i'll never forget that day, Thanks Alan Parsons for being the soundtrack of a little part of my life
This song also provides me a mix of emotions, i feel a little sad because it makes me remember to my father, it also makes me feel fine because it makes me remember how many times i've raised up after falling trying to follow a lost love...
Yo practicamente me críe con la música de Alan Parsons, desde que tenía 6 ó 7 años vengo escuchandola gracias a mi hermano 10 años mayor que yo y nunca me canso de escuchar I Robot ó The Eagle Will Raise again, canciones que me traen muchísimos recuerdos de mi infancia y juventud...
When you are with everyone but me, you're with no one. When you are with no one but me, you're with everyone. Instead of being so bound up with everyone be everyone. When you become that many, you're nothing. Empty.
Rumi, mistic poet in the Xl century talking about his talk with god
There are gems throughout the APP catalogue, but I think Pyramid held together best thematically, and this piece makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Eric Woolfson, RIP
And I will easily fall from grace and another will take my place! For the chance to behold your face. Wow these words are so profound and spiritual. I love this album it changed my life in 1978 and solidified my worshipping APP. God Bless you Eric and Alan!
This series of tracks was dubbed the 'Pyramid Trilogy' by our local album rock FM station when it was released over 30 years ago.
The opening of Pyramid is gripping and to this day retains a mystique and untiring musical eloquence.
Pyramid, along with the other albums in the APP library, have the absorbing and satisfying intellectual flavors that will last the lifetime of the discerning listener. It is impossible for my APP CDs to gather dust in my collection while I am still around.
The first LP of AAp i bought, and felt in love with this song, and how many times we have played it, in the the parties, just to dance cheeck to cheeck with some girls... but....... never happened!!!!! eh eh eheh. But anyway, a wonderul piece of music, AAP will reise again!
When they get old and blunt and can't hunt anymore ,they retreat-to-death high in the mountains where nobody can find them...they hit the rock until they're old and blunt claws and mouth falls off ,and they wait until nature let it grow on them again.
It is great to hear this beautiful song many years later... This is real music and the lyrics are wonderful. Now, this song, reflects my present feelings. Thanks for sharing !!!!
The lead singer in this APP song is, according to the following-Colin Blunstone,
The 3rd album of the Alan Parsons Project, Pyramid, is certainly one of their best.. This release lives up to their reputation as a "prog lite" band. One of the most successful guest vocalists that they have used over the years is Colin Blunstone, and on this album he sings the gorgeous acoustic ballad, "The Eagle Will Rise Again", surely one of the best songs in their long career. (courtesy of Google).
i have both alan parson project double greatest cd's and both best of cd's 1 & 2.wonderful selection of songs.great song i wonder if alan parson still performs.
I love the main theme (would you call it a riff? I'm not sure what to call it), it almost reminds me of "Valley of the Mind's Eye" by Thomas Dolby, which, if you like APP type stuff, I'm guessing you'd like that song. :)
I still listen to this on 8 track once in a while on a old sony deck, tape has a soft and natural sound that goes with this music ,screw the ipods, give me the the inconvieniance of older sound reproduction with big speakers
Beatiful song, one APP's best; on each record they had the one romatic song with a similar musical structure of a minor scale change (Time, Old and Wise, The one in Paradise) but this one's exceptional
Hi Fretliner! I completely agree with you! This song is one of the best of the entire APP's discography, and Colin Blunstone's voice is outstanding. 5 stars for the music, 5 stars for singing and 5 stars for the lyrics: the result is 15 STARS...
Bought this lp in 1977. I lost two good friends in a boating accident that year. This song always reminds me of those friends and funerals. Great song.
This song is wonderful and it means something different to everyone. Religious people might see it as a declaration of adoration for god, people in love might see it as a pure declaration of love to their special one, spiritual people might see it as homage to Destiny...for me, it´s a song expressing my worship for Edgar Allan Poe. A very personal song, and that´s beautiful.
Ease up,man, many of us are simply enjoying the beautiful music.
APP has been a soundtrack to my life for over twenty years and without knowing about 1946..and I'm still here enjoying this beautiful music.thanks for posting this JOEneil69!
Great song and lyrics. I shared it on my blog makeitabetterplaceforus.

Fretliner 3 years ago
Hi Fretliner! I completely agree with you! This song is one of the best of the entire APP's discography, and Colin Blunstone's voice is outstanding. 5 stars for the music, 5 stars for singing and 5 stars for the lyrics: the result is 15 STARS...

Beautiful song. I bought this album new in 1979.
Thanks for posting this. I think it is the best fan made video of AP music!

Bought this lp in 1977. I lost two good friends in a boating accident that year. This song always reminds me of those friends and funerals. Great song.
Alan Parsons is far too underestimated group.
Do they still tour?

This song is wonderful and it means something different to everyone. Religious people might see it as a declaration of adoration for god, people in love might see it as a pure declaration of love to their special one, spiritual people might see it as homage to Destiny...for me, it´s a song expressing my worship for Edgar Allan Poe. A very personal song, and that´s beautiful.
