  • Aww you almost wanna reach out & touch one....but then you come to your senses. Colt put on a good show :)

  • This clip means alot. Let the US keep saving the whales

  • Whales are the creatures with the most beautiful singing voices ^_^

  • Adopt a whale ?What does this mean ?

  • There are whale adoption programs in New England that use the funds to help protect whales.

Adoptions of Colt can be made by Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society North America and Whale Center of New England. A simple Google search of whale adoption programs will give you the URL's.

Most programs cost $30-35 and you get updates through the year via newsletters, a picture of your whale and other things.

  • We adopted Colt yesterday Sept 15th 2009...we did not get the chance to see Colt but we picked him because we are Indianapolis Colts Fans! We did get to see Coral!!

  • That is fantastic. Colt is a wonderful and amazing animal. He is one of the fifteen humpback whales highlighted on Salt & Friends: Humpback Whales With Names.

Coral is also on Salt & Friends.

    Dan

  • That is so incredibly sweet. I hope Colt is still ok and thriving!

  • My mom just readopted Colt again for my 27th birthday. hahaha, too funny. :) I feel like I'm 5 again. haha :)

  • Colt is my whale! my family adopted him when we were just young kids! he is born the same year as me! this was a fantastic video! glad to hear he is doing well!

  • I am so happy to show you your adopted whale. There is more from this clip on our DVD "Awesome Whales For Kids" and a whole segment on Colt on Salt & Friends: Humpback Wha;es With Names.

  • Oh cool, that's neat. yah i saw down farther than someone said he had adopted this whale and i didn't know if more than one person can do it or maybe they are just confused. Anyways, we adopted colt when i was just a kid, and my mom just sent me this link because we were wondering if he was still around. Glad to see it! :) thanks!

  • Wow i cant believe he's singing for the people on the boat!

  • Hey ppl who are reading this i wanted to tell you that i was so excited when i found this video because i adopted a whale from the New England Whale Center and thats him.

  • Save all the whales!!! Just got back from Hawaii and what a beauty to this planet. Shame on all of you that are for killing of whales!!!!

  • SAME HERE!

  • TransientOrca - okay you and I we are not enemies - but please let me tell you one thing!

I DON'T care about the internal japanese politic and economy. Fact is they are killing my whales, your whales everybodys whales. They do this for money - they don't need this meat because they are starving!

They are incredible bad players - the know they can't hunt, so they make research! gee vomite

  • You may not care for the internal politic, but i respect that. I just think someone does, and I might as well be the one who thinks about the other side of things. And I am sorry that things had to start badly between us.

  • Colt you are a great guy - you alol are so inocent - and we are all criminals, all those who kill and all those who look away without helping!

I wish you and all of you and all your protectors a long and healthy life!

  • TransientOrca you are totally retarded!

japan is the richest country in the world - and you care about the internal politic and you don't care about out planet with all her beautiful wild life on land and into water!?

YOU ARE - gee lost for words!!!!

  • god bless all those who protect the whales - the rest should burn in hell!

  • thank you. :) I do, in a way, understand where you are coming from. Because I could not IMAGINE that these folks are PROUD of what they're doing. There's both ends. Some ppl could NOT care less; not feeling any wrongdoing at all. Some--not so happy but feel like it's 'the only way' for w/e reason they 'must' do it. But I will always be hurt deeply on the issue of animal cruelty, they deserve SO MUCH more respect that's all. Take care now.

  • I do apologize though if I "bit your head off". I do very much apreciate the fact that you have a heart and it's refreshing that you DO realize it IS cruel. It's just that I am VERY passionate about animal rights and it hurts me to my core to see people being so heartless.

  • To that I also, would like to cite a wise adage:

Only after the last tree has been cut down,

Only after the last river has been poisoned,

Only after the last fish has been caught, Only then will you find that Money Cannot be Eaten? - Chief White Cloud

  • In Nazi Germany, the construction of gas chambers & 'death camps' probably provided work for someone. The 'job excuse' is not a moral or sound reason for allowing the unneccessary slaughter, cruelty & suffering of hundreds of thousands of innocent, helpless living beings.

  • FAIR?? What about being FAIR to the whales? What about them? What humans are some ALMIGHTY being who should do as they please? TRADITION? Slavery was a tradition, should that have been kept alive? 'tradition' doesn't mean it is right or make it an excuse for cruelty.

  • This is how things SHOULD be. People gathering together for a sight seeing adventure to see the true beauty of nature. It is a gift. Yet people are COLD and turn what SHOULD be clear, clean blue water into a dark and evil BLOOD BATH. It is such a horrendous sight. Such beauty and innocence.. DESTROYED. Sad. Very sad.

  • sweet!! but the colt i know was from the New England whale center are you sure this could be him?

  • Yes, it is him. There is only one whale in New England named Colt. He has a big round floppy dorsal fin and is very well known. I'm sure that the researchers at WCNE would be happy to acknowledge this fact for you. They are just as friendly as Colt.

  • danthewhaleman where was this taken cuz i adopted a whale and his name is colt. plz let me know

  • This was taken on Stellwagen Bank off the Massachusetts coast. It is your adopted whale.

  • Colt is a major star on Salt & Friends: Humpback Whales With Names. If you want to meet Colt and 14 other humpbacks and their families, get this dvd on our website or amazon. (Whale video dot com

  • OK, so we're all opposed to the commercial, "scientific" whaling of Japan, Iceland and Norway. Subsistence need must be verified, but the Alaskan Inuits seem to have done that. The Makah have not; they just want to kill gray whales.

  • You were so lucky to hear these whales? I thought they never sang except in the tropics! Why were they singing here?

  • No one knows why they sing in the northern latitudes. Perhaps just because they enjoy it. It is very rare to hear them sing on the feeding grounds. It was just one fabulous result of recording 17,000 whale watching trips on video and preserving it for future generations of researchers.

  • Japan whales to put meat on supermarket shelves, not support centuries of tradition. There is no way to kill a whale humanely. Do you know whale and dolphin meat often contains mercury, and they serve it to schoolchildren!

  • In my opinion, there are no valid reasons for whaling. It is not easy to kill a whale and the death can take hours. Whale meat in at least the major whaling nations is no longer needed to survive, it is considered a delicacy. Finally, there are many historical examples of cultural norms no longer exceptable, i.e., slavery, human and animal sacrifice.

  • Just awesome!

  • This is about the best whale footage ever seen and heard, shows how magnificant these animals are...how can anyone contemplate killing them?

  • Incredible ... to hear them singing and their behavior at the same time.

  • I enjoyed this more than any other animal video on youtube.
