  • Jesse Keith hit #9 in Billboard, 2-14-87. God bless! RIP, Keith.

  • My dad's favorite song. I've known it by heart since I was a little girl and we've all but worn out his Keith Whitley albums.

  • Keith was a very handsome young man, deep voice, who put so much heart and soul into his singing, he shines. SO Hot is what he is. His song to Lori just amazes me. Can you imagine ? husband in Nashville singing to you on the airwaves. HOT, I tell ya, HOT. Still love his v o i c e .

  • I think a thank you is in order for his band Miami, you guys are often forget about but the music that u guys played nite in and nite out for Keith was truly amazing and only my best for u guys where ever u may be. You guys ROCK!!!!!! Back then and till this day you guys are my favorite band hands down. God Bless you always.. The baddest band in all the land.......MIAMI

  • @lno71 Thanks for recognizing the other musicians, but even beyond them was an arranger, the 'architect' of the entire package. My top music hero is a man who arranged top hits in the late 1950s for Johnny Mathis, Don Cherry, Guy Mitchell, & Marty Robbins. That arranger was Ray Conniff, who would record over 1200 songs of his own, combining swing & jazz and human voices sounding like instruments. Hope you might check out my 550 playlists of the best music on earth. There's one for Keith. Chuck

  • Keith died two years before I was born but don't think that I don't know him. If anybody listens to Keith then they know exactly who he is. He showed himself through his music. He is a legend in my eyes and there is no country music singer in my opinion that can hold a candle next to him. His music can always get me through the bad times. It's so true when they say only the good die young. R.I.P Jesse Keith Whitley

  • keiths voice with that sax made the song

  • there is nothing better than some Keith and an ol' dirt road and a cooler full of ice cold beer!!!!

  • I didn't know keith personaly, but he and I drank a many beer together. to his pure country songs

    RIP Keith

  • A great artist from a great era when purity like this could find its way to country radio.

Top to bottom this song was done right. Almost all of KW's stuff was like that.

  • Wish country music was what it use to be!

  • Keith Whitley what a pure and geniune voice. a talent that this world will never see again.... he was a gift sent to us for a short while but what a gift he was. his music will forever live on. Keith THANK YOU for the music and memories but most of all just for being you.....country music royalty!!!! You fucking ROCK!!!! .... Keith miss you brother and keep singing....again.... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!

  • @lno71 AMEN to that. I'm a proud Kentucky native, just like Keith. Kentucky has got some of the best talent in country music!!!

  • One of the best EVER!

  • we lost a part of the back bone of country music when he died.

  • After twenty years I still miss him alot.

  • Keith Whitley would have been the biggest country star of all times, if his life had not ended so tragically. He had such a soft soothing country voice. He was and still is the BEST!

  • Thanks for posting, I still get emotional when I hear Keith's tones..every now and then when Im singing one of his tunes..it still gets me.

  • what a great song sung by a great singer that will never be forgotten. i know heaven is enjoying this awesome singer now.

  • Keith, I got over being mad at you for leaving. I know you had your demons just like I had and still have mine. We both took ourselves out of the business, You by dying, me by just walking away. Keith, I miss you. I miss the country that you made. Hell, you wouldn' t know country today. Lorrie didn' t sell out. She' s still a country Queen. Neither did Willie, Jones, Straight and Haggard. The Ladies? Only one left is Connie Smith. Country misses you. You are remembered. Peace and love.

  • i was a senior in high school when he died and the pain is still felt till this day. there will never be another talent like this one. his voice and talent could never be replaced or duplicated and to his family god speed.. He was my HERO and i am eternally grateful that i got to enjoy his music and see him in concert . KEITH WHITLEY YOU ROCK AND KEEP SINGING IN HEAVEN

  • I still miss him....

  • I hear you there. I remember the day he died. I was doing laundry when I heard about it on the radio. Needless to say I was stunned.

  • A Letter To Keith. Please indulge. You had one of the purist voices that I knew. Much better than mine. But we managed to raise a little hell together. You were my friend. We both suffered from the same addition. The last time I saw you was when Lorrie picked you up from Broadway. lol We had hit every club. She called me an asshole. lol Damn Bro I didn' t drag you. Anyway. I' m out of the business. 35 years was enough. Married 45 years to the same women . miss you

  • a friend of mine loves to tell the story of keith whitley and ricky skaggs digging a ditch for her grandmother... RIP keith.. awesome music is forever. :)

  • If he was still here, he would be as big as George strait if not bigger. Hes a one of a kind and no one has had a talent like his.

  • the best thats all they are to say about keith THE BEST!!!

  • This song makes me so happy! He took his "'57 up to heaven".

  • May You R.I.P. Dear Keith Whitley!

Also, may your music, singing & vocal range inspire up & coming artists, etc. forever!

    Dave :-)

  • Keith can do no wrong :)

  • i'm a ghetto boy that likes a little c&w and this song makes it.

  • glad to see that you have an open mind about music... most don't

  • I was 13 when Keith died. I listened to him then and loved it. Now I'm 33 and I am enjoying Sing his songs in my band. I plan on doing his song for a long time. If I ever made big I would be looking at remaking " I'm Over You".

  • if that is the case then i hope you do make it big

  • no body can remake that song

  • This is one of my favorite songs! I never used to like him, but my mom listened to him all the time, and when she played his cd " Greatest Hits", i loved it right away. Keith was one of the best singers of all time. In all my 16 years, ive never heard anybody who can beat out keiths vocal abilities. He's amazing. Sure other country singers are great too! But keith just has that voice that everyone wants to listen to again and again

  • When Keith Whitley passed away, Garth Brooks took over the reins. Country music has spiraled downward ever since..

  • I agree totally Garth owes his career to Keiths passing

  • garth owes his career to chris ledoux

  • All i was saying

  • Garth cannot hold a candle to Keith Whitley!!

  • @1998disco72 Aint that the truth good buddy!!!!!

  • time travel-------youtube

  • One Of a kind may never be replaced Keith has a real country sound to his voice high pitch whine god bless him for leaveing this

  • Instead of your usual no..you said yes...man...goose bumbs.

  • I never met him but wanted to before he died. He was my favorite singer when I was in high school and has proven to be my favorite many years later.

  • I was only 5 when he died but I remember when I was little I carried a cassette tape of his around with me everywhere I went. My name is Amy and I always would pretend that Miami, My Amy was about me.

  • y5rancher...

Not everyone knows him personally & many didn't say that they did know him, but they do know & love his music.

But, there are some I know Keith, so they aren't lying.

Why even post a comment like that?

It is not really called for IMHO.

  • i love this song...this is the one artist me and my grandmother can listen to...we listened to the greatest hits tape over and over for a 14 hour trip lol..we we're both singing along...i must say its one of my favorite memories with her :) thank you so much for posting it

  • This is one of my favorite, most beautiful album covers. Keith is beautiful, both in voice and to look at. I love the picture on this cover. I miss phone booths, and especially phone booths by the ocean. You don't see them any more. Like Keith, they are a part of the past, but the memory of both will live on. Keith was so beautiful and I will miss him forever.

  • wow what can say!!!!!!!!!! sweet!!!!

  • This song still gives me goosebumps. What an amazing voice. What might have been..

  • Just takes me back... ;)

  • One of the greatest of all time.

  • I run into people very often that have met Keith Whitley at points in their lives. Our conversations always are about his influential style, thoughts of what might have been, and the legacy that he left. However, never do I walk away from the conversation and have not learned something new about the man Keith was.... That, my friends, is his legacy. From Biloxi, MS

  • Funny, I lived in his hometown and didn't see him for he was always running. So yeah I knew why.

  • I grew up listening to Keith Whitley with my ole Man and my Bro. We have been out fishing in the middle of a lake and all three started harmony on this very song. Keith Whitley is one of a kind and a legend in my opinion.

Keith you will always live on.

    Gregg

  • Love this song!
