  • Wow! this was on my "slow jams" mixtape of songs I recorded from the radio using my cassette recorder (my hand ready to hit the pause button when the song ended or in this case, before dj started talking) and would always ad-lib the end because I didn't get the "faded out" part on tape and just did it again.

  • My all time favorite song, my eyes have sparkle in them when they look at you.

  • Awesome!!!

  • GROWN FOLKS ONLY CAN APPRECIATE THIS

  • What a classic!!!!!Brings back priceless memories!!!!!A Fan 4 Life From East St. Louis:)

  • i went to this concert and kicked it

  • this is one of the best love songs written with a hint of movement, not to slow or to fast, just right. A love stepping song by CAMEO!!!!!!!!!!! I saw the sparkle in the eye of the woman I married. This is still the sh__!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • somebody help me i'm fallen in love

  • Beautiful

  • they really dont make music that can come close to this.music.these days they singing and rapping about screwing this is about true love and making your man or woman feel good

  • Listening to these old school classic makes me so sad. Technology has really destroyed us. It has destroyed music and it has destroyed how we interact with each other as black people. I remember growing up in the 70's and early 80's as a youth no matter how bad things we were we as a people knew how to enjoy life. The music being made nowadays I would never spend a dime on.

  • @blackra Makes me sad too. As a White kid growing up listening to NOTHING but R&B i.e. Cameo, Bar Kays, Lakeside, Zapp, P-Funk, One Way, etc. This special music helped to unite people. I can't say that about today's music :(

  • @joeskaterAZ i am hoping one day people really wake up and say enough is enough. i hope this is just a phase we are going though in music right now. this cannot continue.

  • @blackra4 I agree, wheres the talent in modern music. its like recording contracts are givin to anyone.

  • .....everytime i hear songs from the 70's i think back to a place where life was good....im sure my parents had their share of struggles....but as a child i remember the fish fry's, the card games, my mom and her friends drinking rolling rock and eating peanuts, the days when we had to be home before the street lights came on, when the neighbors look out for one another's kids.....smh....live was good.....what happen?

  • I learned to play this groove on the guitar and once i learned called my 1st gf and sung it to her on the phone, she was the captain of the cheerleaders and i was the prettyboy , i learn something tho'...if u put ur mind to anything u can succeed !

  • I'm doing the KC two step....yeah!

  • really takes me back

  • TOP NOTCH

  • This songs brings back the "TRUE" R&B! True meaning of rythm and blues.

  • R & B, has truly lost its Sparkle. Thank goodness for the Soul music.

  • @KaishaLaSha83

    PREACH!!!

  • THIS IS THE GROOVE !!!

  • It doesn't get any better than old school R&B!! Nothing like it!

  • this music makes me Smile! a wonderful song!

  • The jam

  • I was probably in the 4th or 5th grade the first time I saw my classmates "slow jam" . . . This was the classic I remember . . . I had no idea at the time it was Cameo, a group that I knew much better for their funky hits . . . This shows how diversely talented they were.

  • RIP BIG RONALD..this song reminds me of him =(

  • i remember the 70's i was in junior high school . dance group did a dance to this at westview junior high.

  • Thanks Mom and Dad!

  • Reginald Heard also sampled this joint for Pac's original version of Loyal to the Game. But I have appreciation for the old school funk/soul artists, so, one love.

  • One of my favorite songs of all time...

Can music get any better than this?

  • Someone close to me had that Sparkle once!

  • One amazing song that brings back all of the greatest memories. I remember falling in love with a lovely young lady in '79 while a freshman in college who do this day is still near and dear to my heart. Thanks Cameo for creating a masterpiece.

  • Hearing this after so many years socked me in the gutts! Where did it all go? What a time to be young black and beautiful! wouldnt trade it for the world

  • I heard it on the radio and researched the lyrics to try to find it... I would have never thought it was Cameo because it sounds nothing like the two Cameo songs I have heard all my life "Word UP" and "Candy" but omgeesh, the dude singing...I love his voice!!!

  • @2164urob your pops was right...but dont get me wrong...I love kiddd cudi...lol

  • Great song. I think I was 17 when this came out. They came to Roanoke, Va for a show and their plane was late so they didn't get to have a sound check. We were always early for shows because there were no reserved seats and you could get front row on the floor. Anyway we were chilling and a group of guys walk out on stage and grabbed their instruments and played this song. It was Cameo and they were amazing. Private concert for about 25 people. The 70's were an amazing time.

  • @rzracer1 Amazing, Amazing time. NO crack, AIDS, little crime, many Jobs, .75 gallon gas, no wars, friendly people.... today people would never understand. They say we old, maybe ,but i grew up In America during the best years of AMERICAN LIFE.

  • Im 38. Now lookin back i can see that the 70s and 80s was a very special time. Nobody had a lotta money, but we made due with what we had, and we had fun doin it.

  • @Jamboree2012 and there was some GREAT music...not like today's garbage

  • @Jamboree2012 -So true brah. I'm 44 & to me old school music like this & many others has such an impact on our women, friends, husbands, relationships, good times & life in general. I'm sorry but today's music just does not have the same soul, chemistry, love, maturity ect.. Brah we are so fortunate to have been brought up in that era, Today everything seems to be about money, bitches, cars, fame, bling, houses, guns, & respect. I'm 110% 60's-90's funk,soul,hip-hop, R&B,classic rock, & blues. keeps me true.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I couldn't have said it better Jamboree. And by chance do you remember loving, and being down with your family? Friday night fish-frys? Sunday dinners? Spades and dominoes? And all that good music! I see you're straight outta Texas. Houston born and raised here. I miss the old days. When I retreat into myself, I always find myself in a sweet memory dated somewhere in the 70s. When the only thing black people had was "each other". The generations behind us missed it for sure!

  • @LadyDos2008 i hear that my brother, we played spades for hours everyday back then

  • @LadyDos2008 same here, doing da fish fry on Friday nite , letting the cool summer nite breeze flow over while you sitting out doors enjoying good fish and music. Playing spades, here the little children laughter in the back ground, then either you are your sister around the side of the house making out with you boyfriend.

  • @LadyDos2008 I feel ya on that! I'm from Houston too! JJ Rhodes and Frost Elementary, Woodson Jr High, MacGregor Park and Astro World season pass in the summer! TSU student life center and walking a girl home after gettin her parents permission. Asking her all silly, "Will you go with me?"...lol

  • @Jamboree2012 The 70's was the "Best" decade us Black folks ever had in these United States of Amerikka..

  • I GREW UP WITH THIS SONG....OH WOW!!!!!!

  • Pure butta, baby Paul!!!

  • I wish young people would listen to our music more often! the 70s and 80s music brings such good memories...plus it the best!!!

  • Gotta be one of my favorite love songs....

    Cameo is BADD...

  • eyes closed head grooving to the beat, memories of my jr high crush, so innocent, we could only talk at school, because i wasnt allowed to have phone calls from boys yet, but he would dedicate this song over the radio to me almost ever night

  • No one should remake this song unless they sing like the dude

  • Sampled By 9th Wonder

  • I remember when i was a fetus listening to this song through my mommas stomach, i couldnt wait to be born to hear it without sounding like it was underwater...naw seriously, this song will never die!!

  • A lot of people here are saying thay were 9, 15, 18, etc, when this song came out. I wouldn't be born for another 5 years and didn't even hear the song until about 2001 but it is one of the most romantic, beautiful songs I have ever and probably will ever hear. Cameo rule!

  • Oooo...do you feel that bass line? It makes you wanna rock and sway...

  • He really poured his heart out to that woman.Hope he got the responce he was looking for,I got the responce.Still have that sparkle in my from 6 years ago.

  • If this song came out in 1979 or 1980, then I was 9 or 10 years old. Of course I was too young to know what the lyrics meant. Didn't stop me from singing it though. I still love love LOVE this song!!!

  • When this song was on the charts i was about 17 or 18 absolutely a beautiful song unfortunately you won't hear it on network radio! God bless!

  • someone accidentally hit the thumbs down button...

  • i remember i was a teenager when this song came out. wow the memories..back then cameo was one of the best groups out!! after all these years, this song still sounds good!! it's just priceless..

  • Me and my band won first place in our high school talent show back in the day off this song. I was the lead singer, but I didn't do it any just like Larry Blackmon & Cameo.
