You have no idea if Barbaro would've won the Preakness. Sure, he was a great horse. But it seems to me most people only jumpred on his bandwagon AFTER he won the Derby impressively (he wasn't even the fav in the Derby). The Triple Crown trail is such a strange deal...you just never know. IMO, the colt that had the best chance to win the TC in recent years was Smarty Jones and I didn't even bet him in the Derby! BTW, what's with no video for Red Bullet's win in the '00 Preakness? My pick!
hi from puerto rico. great montage .exellent work.i would like to see a belmont montage too.and i have one question. i wanna know if horses from another countries can compete on the triple crown. cause in the 1981 kentucky derby i think there are a horse named habano. that horse is from mexico and he finished 20.the he runs in the caribean derby of that same year.but i,m not sure if that horse is the same.if somebody knows please let me know.thanks like i say before great work.
i love the preakness, it is the race for redemption, Hansel, Point Given, Afleet Alex...n so many others come back with fierce performance; Like he said "point given redeem himself"
If you like, I could get you clear network broadcasts of the 2005 and 2006 runnings. The call on network TV of Afleet Alex was superb, I still find myself quoting Jack Buck everytime I see that 2005 finish "I don't believe...what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw." Three years later, I still don't believe it.
Awesome video, I got chills watching Afleet Alex come back and win, brought back great memories. "How much the best is he?!"- the best part. Thanks for posting this, really well done.
Really now? Bernardini ran one of the fastest Preaknesses of all time - and other than a craptacular ride by Jerry Bailey in his first race, the only horse that ever beat him was Invasor. Bernardini was one of the best horses of a generation. I get the Barbaro love, but claiming he would have won does a great disservice to a fantastic racehorse.
Its hard to say who would have won. Both were very talented horses with good tactical speed.I think Barbaro had more early speed and he could certainly finish. Bernardini was as smooth as silk, and with great tactical speed could be placed anywhere.Bernardini, though, took advantage of slow paces and mediocre competition when he won the Jim Dandy,Travers, and Jockey Gold Cup.When faced by a quicker pace in the Classic, he struggled to stay with the leaders, and had little left for the stretch.
i love the call on silver charm, "head to head nose to nose oooooooooooh is close" he is so into it. and funny cide "he is heading home back to belmont"
Holy, that takes me back. I forgot how good some of those duels were, especially Silver Charm/Free House, and I'll never forget Afleet Alex's stumble. Great montage!
on my opinion the Sunday Silenec and Easy Goer Preakness duel is the best duel I've ever seen in my life.. both horses are great... as well as the others...thanks for the video..PEACE
i was wondering if you were going to do a belmont stakes Montage these are absolutely awesome please if u have time do a belmont stakes great music as well solid well done
I'll put the Belmont video together befoe the race this year. Derby is done from 1968-2006. Not going to add this years winners to these, but after the Belmont I'll do something with all 3, not sure what yet though.
2000 I couldn't find anywhere. I should be able to get it soon, but wanted to post this before the race Saturday. Will add it in at some point in the future, but no rush at the moment :o
LOL. What a minute. I watched this video at 1 AM on half an Ambien and thought the song was Oh Christmas Tree. Hence my comment about surprising choice. I just watched it again and realized it's Maryland, My Maryland.

1) Wonderful video, great job.
2) Is that song playing "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree"?

the best horse not to win the triple crown is Afleet Alex. Second would be Point Given.

Excellent work. If I had to give out awards, here's my choices
1) Most exciting Preakness (in the montage): 89' Sunday Silence-Easy Goer. Close 2nd is Silver Charm-Free House-Captain Bogit-Touch Gold.
2) Most amazing performance- 05' Afleet Alex's miracle recovery and victory.
3) Most dominant- 04' Smarty Jones by a Preakness record 11.5 lengths.

Also, I for one love the music choice. Next time you do a montage, use the Peanuts Christmas music, that should work 'em up!

Awful choice of music, it puts you to sleep when the stretch runs of any race are the most exciting part!

He's already got two similar videos of the Derby stretch runs, starting in 1968. Click on BeefSupremeX's name and you'll see all his videos.

Great video. I even loved the subtle music, a surprising choice but I thought it worked.
Funny how many Preakness stretch runs I could not remember, as opposed to the Derby.
Someone on YouTube needs to find a video of that 2000 Preakness. I think some of the pre-'89 Preakness vids are missing as well.
