@getleashed are all boostmobile phones walkie talkie with that push to talk feature? and if i have a boostmobile can i use push to talk with a nextel phone?
@getleashed. i dont wanna sound like a dummy..lol but what drive would that be? when i plug in the usb cord i hear a sound on my computer but thats it, i dont see an appropriate drive or anything associated with the phone
@David279300 it depends on your computer. just go to "My Computer" and start clicking on drives. It's diffidently not C or D drive, those are usually your hard drives. that's all i can really say.
Thank you for this video man =) You've convinced me. I have been debating which phone to get and on what carrier. 50 bucks unlimited on boost's nationwide network/and that badass phone. Kudos dude.
lol my parents don't pay for my phone, I do. obviously you know nothing about this phone because you would know that you can infact make the flash automatic. and yeah it kinda does have to do with where you live because unless you live under a rock, you most likely get boost mobile coverage because they are nationwide dumbass. so if it "takes forever to send and receive test mesgs" for you then obviously you live in an area where boost coverage sux. lmao get a life & actually upload a video.
This phone is actually one of the best iDEN phones to date.
Unless you live in bumblefuck egypt the texting is just fine on Boost. I live in Chicago and have no complaints. I don't know what you were expecting, but the internet is not 3G. You can download Opera Mini to enhance your browsing experience - the browser actually makes the web faster. You can set the camera flash to automatic, and theres nothing to do about the shutter sound, but thats hardly a reason not to buy this phone.
yup! it is! i dont have my i9 anymore cuz i got that Nextel Blackberry Curve 8350i that I flashed to Boost Mobile, but yeah when I had my i9 it was hot. I got it right when it came out and i was waiting for it and when i got it it was awesome. great phone, just i need a full keyboard and shit and nuthin beats blackberry with dat boost mobile chirp! lol
this video has gotten over 7,000 views and during the time it's been up, you're the first to tell me this. stop hating and try uploading some vids of your own instead of hating on other people's vids that have thousands of views and almost a hundred positive comments.
I have i9. I saw someone at the store that called someone by just saying the persons name without opening the phone! Then I tried it! And its says not having voice acitivated or something! I saw it again on Youtube that someone did it! I cant find it! Would you know how to activate it and do it? I would like to add that My family owns houses in Mexico! And I can call them on there Nextel Radios and I have Boost all for the same fees! Nothing extra! They say 10 bucks more! I have never paid it!
I have no idea how to set up voice dialing, but I think this phone has that capability. As for the international connect from Boost Mobile, it's an additional $10/month for Monthly Unlimited subscribers and you can chirp people on Telus Mike in Canada as well as Nextel Mexico, and people in Peru, and other parts of South America.
Other than that I really don't know much about International Connect cuz I don't have a need to use it.
Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting!
THANKS for replying back .you were really helpfull it worked but my problem was that i didnt used the memory card before what i mean is that i didnt put it inside the phone before ..and i have a lots of pictures on the phone memory ..i couldnt get trnsferd to the memory card ..any idea would be appreciated ...
First have the memory card in the phone. Once it's in the phone go to your media center, then get to where it shows your pics that are on the phone. Then highlight the photo, press menu, and click "copy to card". do this for every pic you want from your phone on your card.
then from now on go into the camera settings, and change the default destination where the pics save to your card.
lol im not gonna do a demo of the web just for you, but i will tell you that it isn't 3G because Boost is not a 3G network. All Boost and Nextel phones come with GPS capabilities.
First make sure you have the memory card in the phone, then plug the USB into the phone and into the computer. The phone will recognize that you have the USB cable plugged in and so will the computer. Finally, go to My Computer and you should see the phone listed as one of the external drives.
sorry about that... already apologized in the description, but I'll say it again... I was using a really jacked up camera to record this review. The sound recording on it isnt that good. Didn't find that out til I already did the review... my baaad.
anyway, back on topic... YES! Boost is awesome and the i9 is a great phone! thanks for watching and double thanks for commenting!
hell yes man, fucking ditch tmobile they suck ass. the i465 is a great texting phone. hey subscribe to me cuz i have a review for the clutch i465 coming along with more tech reviews and stuff coming really really soon like in the coming weeks so yeah subscribe please!
nah, I already sold mine lol cuz I got the new Clutch i465... sorry man. I've got a review/unboxing vid of the i465 that I'll be premiering really soon.
I have the I9 and the 50 dollar plan and the texting is the network problem, my only beef with it is that you only can record a 1 minute video and for some reason I can't send vodeos it tells me that the message is too large. some one help me
I'm sorry you're having problems with texting because Boost has improved their service greatly in the last few months.
With a MicroSD card you can record videos that are as long as you want and the reason you can't send videos that are too long is because you can only send videos like 30 seconds long or less.
Are you guys having problems about sending and receiving text? It all of a sudden says it can't receive text, or it can't send the text. Anyone know how to fix it?
hey can u send stuff like pictures and ringtones through bluetooth adn can ppl send stuff to u through bluetooth on the i9..also were do pl get the free mosquito ringtone dat adultsz cant hear??THnxx
If you have iTunes you cant put music on the phone unless you have the music files somewhere else on your computer because once you put music on iTunes it doesnt let you take it off of there.

you can only view the youtube mobile site, but none of the videos are available to watch because this phone is not a smart phone and doesn't offer the amount of internal memory nor software needed to watch flash video. hope this helps!
hey great review man very helpful just quick question...do u no anything bout the supposedly new phone comin out august 2 itsz called "banfi"...it suppose to be sum kind of slider phone n it will be out august 2 for around 140??do u no anythin bout it??
yeah the i856, code named Banfi, is said to be coming out in August. It's the first ever iDEN slider phone (the first ever slider phone to offer walkie-talkie capabilities). besides that I don't know anything else about it. I'm not really interested in it cuz I hate sliders lol. I have my Clutch and that's awesome. I also have my i9 but I'm selling it cuz I use my Clutch more and I'm getting a digital camera (I was only keeping the i9 cuz of it's camera lol).
I looked through all of your comments and none answered whether or not i could download ringtones or not or if i could download music from my pc and set them as ringtones so can u please respond to this message and help me thanks
Nice review, I was recently thinking about getting the i9 or i465 from Boost Mobile. But I keep on hearing that you get "text messages 2 days late", is that true, does that happen to you?
Thanks!! It's always nice to see the support! Both the i9 and the i465 are great phones, and I'll be putting up a review of the i465 really soon so look out for that. As for the text messaging.. I have both phones (i9 & i465) and texting on both are fast, reliable, and fun. There was a problem with the messaging, but Boost has been hard at work fixing that and let me say they have come a long way and have made many improvements so ignore all the complaints about texting! lol
i might be getting this phone and i loved the review, but i was wondering can you set your own pictures as you background on the eturnal or inturnal screen
Good Job on the review man. I've been thinking about getting this phone on Boost mobile and you showed very well that it is fun and easy to use . And its a whole lot cheaper then the other phone comanies out there. I'm sold
Thanks man! Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, YouTube doesn't always notify me of new comments :(
Anyway, the ringtones on the i9 are very loud and clear because despite the i9's thinness and sleek high style design, it still embodies the classic iDEN phone features of a loud and clear speaker, and extremely solid walkie-talkie quality. Hope this helps!
ahh yeah I know, I'm sorry. I only have this handheld camcorder and my cell phone to record stuff. Cell phone has okay quality, great sound. handheld camcorder has crappy sound, better video quality... so its a bitch I know lol.
Hope that didn't take away from your viewing experience! thanks for watching!!
yeah ... bought an i9 today and tryed out texting w/ my old sim card and it has to download a simple message ... regular text messaging to be exact ... does your i9 do that?
yes, every Nextel/Boost phone does that. there are some things you can do to assure a better texting experience and one of them is to set your phone so that it automatically downloads texts. that way your phone wont alert you until the text has downloaded. that's one of like 3 things you can do, but I don't remember it all off the top of my head.
Anyway, using the web on your i9 go to "Boost Updates" and click on "Messaging Tips" the tips in that section should better answer your question :)
I've only done that a few times and every time it has managed to send it, but I wouldn't recommend doing that because closing the phone cancels/exits you out of most everything so for total assurance that your text was sent, I would just wait until it says "message sent".
you have to put music from your computer on the phone. currently, boost does not have a music download service. the only thing you can download from their site is ringtones, wallpapers, and games.
dude no way i would pay $300 for this phone. its not good for texting or web, its only good for music. i think i would pay at less $100 for this phone. the Clutch i465 is going to be way better then this phone.
no actually, the Clutch i465 is only better if you prefer a full QWERTY keyboard for texting. other then that, it's a pretty average phone. The camera on the i465 is only VGA, the i9 has 3.1 megapixels with flash and auto focus. The i9 has an awesome media player, but that's not the only thing that makes it a great phone. I'd do your research first before you say things because obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Take it from me, I know what I'm talking about.
You have a Sidekick which obviously means you have T-Mobile and you're calling me a dumb ass? Wow. Dude T-Mobile blows so I could understand why you would hate on people that have better phones on better networks.
Whats up buddy i just receive my i9 , but i cant take pictures with the flip closed , do you know how to take pictures?? i cant find the button that take the picture.
theres a camera button located on the right side of the phone. its right under the keypad lock thingy. also, make sure you remove the little plastic wrapping from the lense or else your pics will come out blue lol
video on the i9 is as long as the microSD card inserted in the phone can hold. 8GB is the biggest card you can get for the phone and it holds four hours of video.
you can listen to music more privately using a pair of micro USB headphones that you can purchase on eBay for around $5
videos, both recorded off the phone and put on the memory card from your PC, can be watched using the phone's media player which works very nicely.
Are you saying that this phone does not come with earphones since I have the razr 2 being very similar phone that did come with those earphones. It can also be used with 3.5mm headphones as well as 2.5mm headsets with the right adapter.
correct. this phone does not come with headphones, you need to buy those separately. and the ones that are compatible with this phone are microUSB headphones. this is because there is only one port on the phone to stick things into (the charger port, which is microUSB)
ok that helped now another ? how do i make the gps work?i thought it was turn by turn?not lateral.and can u c youtube videos on ur yours?thanks!i really appreciate it
I personally have no experience with the GPS. I do know however, that its an additional cost not included in the $50 Monthly Unlimited price. Also, it's a program you have to download called Boost Loopt which charges you a monthly subscription fee of around $5. Other then that, that's all I can tell you about the GPS. Try calling Boost Mobile at 888-BOOST-4U and ask them your questions about GPS.
hey can u tell me how to upload internet images on it (like the ones u google) ive tried but they never show on my phone they sync but dont show!also i cant figure out how to shift when texting?please help me, thanks
you need a data cable that can be purchased on eBay for around $5. once you have that, you need to connect it to your computer. it should automatically detect the phone, but if it doesnt, go to "my computer" and look where there are different drives, one should be the phone you have plugged in.
as for the texting, its different depending on if you have T9 enabled or not, so with that I suggest just playing around with the phone.
the phone does not come with IM software installed, and so far I have not been able to find out how to get it on the phone. So idk I'm not sure about that one. My best guess would be to call Boost Mobile (888-BOOST-4U) and ask them if the i9 is capable of having IM.
no, the Boost and Nextel i9's are the same exact phone. the only difference is one is with boost and one is with nextel. in my opinion though, i would have to say the Boost one is better because you can activate it on the new $50 monthly unlimited plan from Boost. Nextel makes you sign contracts and their unlimited is $99/month.
I already answered the question about myspace and facebook in an earlier comment, please read below...
as for the texting problem.. Boost is working on it and since shooting this review, the texting has gotten faster so Boost isn't lying when they say they're working on it.
hey man i have the i776 and it sucks 4 texting i get texts like 2 hous later wat is the longest u had to wait 4 a text on the i9 and if its any better wen it comes to texting?
oh by far the i9. the samsung instinct is a great phone, but MetroPCS is a sucky service. first off they're only a regional company so they will charge you roaming charges up the ass if you try calling out of your home calling area.
Boost is a nationwide company which means you can go anywhere in the US and not EVER get charged for roaming, period. they also have coverage in select areas of Canada and Mexico for an add. $10/month. go with Boost man, you'll be way happier.
I've been having a terrible time with boosts new unlimited plan, sending and receiving texts are slow as hell! Anyone having this problem too? i've complained so much to boost about it that they credited me 10 dollars to my account so i would stay with the company. Apparently they're telling me that its because this new plan is so popular that they network is bottlenecking. I've noticed too that the phones are selling out everywhere so this could be true? i'm going to give it till end of month.
its always been slowish, have had nextel (same phone system and towers boost uses) for about three years. it has always sucked when it comes to texting, its slow but its bearable.
oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. a lot of people are saying that and to be honest I have the new i9 and it's not that bad at all. it's because they weren't expecting this much of a response from the all new monthly unlimited plan.
they are currently working on this issue and it should be resolved by May 2009.
please stick with Boost, they're a great cell phone company that's doing what no other wireless company is even daring to do. they're just working out the kinks so bear with 'em lol
Yeah, it doesn't take regular standard size, or headset size earphones. The only input for cords is microUSB. There's one microUSB port on the side of the phone. That's used for the charger, USB data cable (sold separately), and earphones

Nice review, I was recently thinking about getting the i9 or i465 from Boost Mobile. But I keep on hearing that you get "text messages 2 days late", is that true, does that happen to you?
hawks12thman 2 years ago
Thanks!! It's always nice to see the support! Both the i9 and the i465 are great phones, and I'll be putting up a review of the i465 really soon so look out for that. As for the text messaging.. I have both phones (i9 & i465) and texting on both are fast, reliable, and fun. There was a problem with the messaging, but Boost has been hard at work fixing that and let me say they have come a long way and have made many improvements so ignore all the complaints about texting! lol

That's good to know! Thanks for the help!

i might be getting this phone and i loved the review, but i was wondering can you set your own pictures as you background on the eturnal or inturnal screen
shandellyo 2 years ago
first off, thanks for the love! always nice to see the support!
now to answer your question... yes you can take any picture on your phone and set is as a wallpaper or picture caller id.
using a data cable, you can also take pics from your computer and put them onto the phone and apply those as wallpaper and picture caller id.

how do u get ur ringtones?
Lamar033 2 years ago
can you get ringtones with this phone?
Dewight84 2 years ago
ringtones are available for download through boost mobile's website and by going to "Boost Live" on the phone
getleashed 2 years ago
i really like this phone but im not sure how much it cost with the unlimited plan all together. can any one tell me
2gutta4dat 2 years ago
About $355 give or take basically
($299 for phone, $50 for plan and add taxes)
markVIIchick 2 years ago
All together it will be $350.
$300 for the phone, and $50 for the first month of service...
If you put money on your phone through Re-Boost cards, the store you purchase them at will add a $5 tax onto the purchase price..
However, if you buy them on eBay you can get them tax free and most time for about $5 less then they normally cost.
And if you use a credit/debit card there is no charge for taxes.

Good Job on the review man. I've been thinking about getting this phone on Boost mobile and you showed very well that it is fun and easy to use . And its a whole lot cheaper then the other phone comanies out there. I'm sold

Aw thanks man! It's always nice to see the support! I'm glad my review could help :D
getleashed 2 years ago
My question is how loud and clear is the ring tone?
The boost mobile I have, its gurgled/low sounding (if that makes any sense) and I have missed many a call >8-(
Great review!
markVIIchick 2 years ago
Hope this helps!
getleashed 2 years ago
Oh it did! Thanks! Because I am using a Boost mobile phone now and my speaker on it is /crap/.
Thanks again!

am i the only one that has all incoming calls go straight to voicemail when the phone is locked??

ahh yeah I know, I'm sorry. I only have this handheld camcorder and my cell phone to record stuff. Cell phone has okay quality, great sound. handheld camcorder has crappy sound, better video quality... so its a bitch I know lol.
Hope that didn't take away from your viewing experience! thanks for watching!!

thats a sweet phone I'm thinking of getting it. Only $50 a month for unlimited on everything well worth

you bet! this phone has everything!!
i've had the unlimited plan since March and it's awesome! best value in wireless!

LloydPrilla 2 years ago
yeah ... bought an i9 today and tryed out texting w/ my old sim card and it has to download a simple message ... regular text messaging to be exact ... does your i9 do that?
grmnku 2 years ago
yes, every Nextel/Boost phone does that. there are some things you can do to assure a better texting experience and one of them is to set your phone so that it automatically downloads texts. that way your phone wont alert you until the text has downloaded. that's one of like 3 things you can do, but I don't remember it all off the top of my head.
Anyway, using the web on your i9 go to "Boost Updates" and click on "Messaging Tips" the tips in that section should better answer your question :)
getleashed 2 years ago
hey.. just one quick question.
when you text, can you close the phone while sending and will it still send ? or will it save the message unsent ?
grmnku 2 years ago
I've only done that a few times and every time it has managed to send it, but I wouldn't recommend doing that because closing the phone cancels/exits you out of most everything so for total assurance that your text was sent, I would just wait until it says "message sent".
hope this helps!
getleashed 2 years ago
do you download the music from your pc to the chip and to the phone or do you buy the songs from boost?
grmnku 2 years ago
you have to put music from your computer on the phone. currently, boost does not have a music download service. the only thing you can download from their site is ringtones, wallpapers, and games.
getleashed 2 years ago
does the i9 bring a usb cord? can you put a Micro SD in it?
lolmoper 2 years ago
these items are sold separately.
getleashed 2 years ago
dude no way i would pay $300 for this phone. its not good for texting or web, its only good for music. i think i would pay at less $100 for this phone. the Clutch i465 is going to be way better then this phone.
dlp323 2 years ago
no actually, the Clutch i465 is only better if you prefer a full QWERTY keyboard for texting. other then that, it's a pretty average phone. The camera on the i465 is only VGA, the i9 has 3.1 megapixels with flash and auto focus. The i9 has an awesome media player, but that's not the only thing that makes it a great phone. I'd do your research first before you say things because obviously you don't know what you're talking about. Take it from me, I know what I'm talking about.
getleashed 2 years ago
you need to do some research, you overpaid for this phone dumb ass.
dlp323 2 years ago
haha not my problem you're a cheap ass.

Whats up buddy i just receive my i9 , but i cant take pictures with the flip closed , do you know how to take pictures?? i cant find the button that take the picture.
Sorry for my bad english
R9fanatik 2 years ago
theres a camera button located on the right side of the phone. its right under the keypad lock thingy. also, make sure you remove the little plastic wrapping from the lense or else your pics will come out blue lol
getleashed 2 years ago
hey nice vid thanks.
I was wondering how long can a video be and can you use headphones to listen to the music instead of having it on speaker?
what about watching movies and what not? is it capable?
MsKayTV 2 years ago
thanks! always nice to see the support!!
video on the i9 is as long as the microSD card inserted in the phone can hold. 8GB is the biggest card you can get for the phone and it holds four hours of video.
you can listen to music more privately using a pair of micro USB headphones that you can purchase on eBay for around $5
videos, both recorded off the phone and put on the memory card from your PC, can be watched using the phone's media player which works very nicely.
hope this helps!!
getleashed 2 years ago
Are you saying that this phone does not come with earphones since I have the razr 2 being very similar phone that did come with those earphones. It can also be used with 3.5mm headphones as well as 2.5mm headsets with the right adapter.
asterbaster96 2 years ago
correct. this phone does not come with headphones, you need to buy those separately. and the ones that are compatible with this phone are microUSB headphones. this is because there is only one port on the phone to stick things into (the charger port, which is microUSB)
getleashed 2 years ago
ok that helped now another ? how do i make the gps work?i thought it was turn by turn?not lateral.and can u c youtube videos on ur yours?thanks!i really appreciate it
jovis311 2 years ago
I personally have no experience with the GPS. I do know however, that its an additional cost not included in the $50 Monthly Unlimited price. Also, it's a program you have to download called Boost Loopt which charges you a monthly subscription fee of around $5. Other then that, that's all I can tell you about the GPS. Try calling Boost Mobile at 888-BOOST-4U and ask them your questions about GPS.
Hope this helps!
getleashed 2 years ago
hey can u tell me how to upload internet images on it (like the ones u google) ive tried but they never show on my phone they sync but dont show!also i cant figure out how to shift when texting?please help me, thanks
jovis311 2 years ago
you need a data cable that can be purchased on eBay for around $5. once you have that, you need to connect it to your computer. it should automatically detect the phone, but if it doesnt, go to "my computer" and look where there are different drives, one should be the phone you have plugged in.
as for the texting, its different depending on if you have T9 enabled or not, so with that I suggest just playing around with the phone.
hope this helps!
getleashed 2 years ago
the phone does not come with IM software installed, and so far I have not been able to find out how to get it on the phone. So idk I'm not sure about that one. My best guess would be to call Boost Mobile (888-BOOST-4U) and ask them if the i9 is capable of having IM.
Hope this helps!!
getleashed 2 years ago
hey is nextel i9 better than boost meaning as color display and menu image let me know
vgcoolgirl 2 years ago
no, the Boost and Nextel i9's are the same exact phone. the only difference is one is with boost and one is with nextel. in my opinion though, i would have to say the Boost one is better because you can activate it on the new $50 monthly unlimited plan from Boost. Nextel makes you sign contracts and their unlimited is $99/month.
getleashed 2 years ago
wen you call someone, does your name show up on the caller id?
biggtravis 2 years ago
not unless the other person has your name/number in their phone. otherwise your phone number will just show up.
getleashed 2 years ago

ticset89 2 years ago
I already answered the question about myspace and facebook in an earlier comment, please read below...
as for the texting problem.. Boost is working on it and since shooting this review, the texting has gotten faster so Boost isn't lying when they say they're working on it.
hope this helps...

hey man i have the i776 and it sucks 4 texting i get texts like 2 hous later wat is the longest u had to wait 4 a text on the i9 and if its any better wen it comes to texting?
wezzyx3 2 years ago
How do you download music to it and make it a ringtone?
CHEVAAN29 2 years ago
oh by far the i9. the samsung instinct is a great phone, but MetroPCS is a sucky service. first off they're only a regional company so they will charge you roaming charges up the ass if you try calling out of your home calling area.
Boost is a nationwide company which means you can go anywhere in the US and not EVER get charged for roaming, period. they also have coverage in select areas of Canada and Mexico for an add. $10/month. go with Boost man, you'll be way happier.
getleashed 2 years ago
I've been having a terrible time with boosts new unlimited plan, sending and receiving texts are slow as hell! Anyone having this problem too? i've complained so much to boost about it that they credited me 10 dollars to my account so i would stay with the company. Apparently they're telling me that its because this new plan is so popular that they network is bottlenecking. I've noticed too that the phones are selling out everywhere so this could be true? i'm going to give it till end of month.
TheHubologist 2 years ago
its always been slowish, have had nextel (same phone system and towers boost uses) for about three years. it has always sucked when it comes to texting, its slow but its bearable.
RevoHalo 2 years ago
oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. a lot of people are saying that and to be honest I have the new i9 and it's not that bad at all. it's because they weren't expecting this much of a response from the all new monthly unlimited plan.
they are currently working on this issue and it should be resolved by May 2009.
please stick with Boost, they're a great cell phone company that's doing what no other wireless company is even daring to do. they're just working out the kinks so bear with 'em lol
getleashed 2 years ago
do it do ringtones
montklem 2 years ago
Yeah, it doesn't take regular standard size, or headset size earphones. The only input for cords is microUSB. There's one microUSB port on the side of the phone. That's used for the charger, USB data cable (sold separately), and earphones
