The only significant difference between a law and theory is that the laws have been consistent through time... a theory or law need only be disproven ONCE under reproducible circumstances, and our fundamental laws (Newton's) are even being called into question now by string theory and other ideas of our universe's basic structure. Not entirely correct. Once a THEORY is proven, it is no longer a theory,but becomes FACT. A SCIENTIFIC THEORY is a theory that others in the scientific community agree on, and is suitable for further study. A SCIENTIFIC LAW is a theory that has been proven to be correct or accurate enough to ALMOST be a fact, but without making it to the FACT status. A THEORY of iself has to be able to be proven or disproven on equal counts.
