Very informative, thank you! My wife and I will be traveling the City of New Orleans in a few months in a roomette for the first time. Is there a shower time limit in the downstairs roomette shower?
the doors in your room lock from the inside only. I definitely recommend the sleeper as a quite place to enjoy a train ride. I cannot forsee any problems with using a power strip in your room. Lots of people i've seen have laptops and such that need additional plug ins. thanks for the comment !
I remember reading in a book on traveling on the train that the doors on the Superliners only lock from the inside and not the outside. Is this still the case? Have a trip in the early stages for a trip on the California Zephyr and I'm highly tempted on booking a sleeper. Mostly because my traveling buddy, namely my brother, gets some nasty ocular migraines and needs the quiet sometimes. Also do the conductors frown on using power strips with the outlets? Haven't found much information on that.
@simplystormie I will def do that in the next video! thanks! for now check out my videos, it should be in my trip on the Sunset Limited to El Paso and on my video of Amtrak from St Louis to Texarkana. Both those videos have a quick tour of my roomette at night time.
@luigirules1000 good question. I'm lucky to be within an 30mins of two major amtrak stops. So i can apply for a transit pass from the local city bus/rail system to get to fort worth and dallas and such. If needed i can hop on the train at dallas or fort worth and ride between the two points ( which is only 31 miles).
@JustinJLego possibly, usually with a single occupant they fold down the seats and leave the upper birth latched. I'll ask the sleeper attendant next time i'm around the train, and find out for sure.
@Hekynn the sooner you book the better. you can go online to amtrak.com and put the dates that you want to travel, and it will show availability for a roomette and the price. or you can visit the Tucson amtrak ticket office and have the ticket agents there give you full information about pricing and an itinerary for a trip from tucson to dc.
Thanks for posting this! I'll be on a Superliner Sleeping car next month (on a different route, however), and I found this very informative! You ought to submit it to Amtrak's site.
@secret1service good question! the answer is no. I am a Station Host Volunteer for Amtrak in Dallas & Fort Worth. I mainly work in the station, and do not have a job on the train. I made this video with permission by the conductor & sleeping car attendant.

Increase brightness, or limit the back and fourth from outdoor to indoor views. Great tour all in all, well done sir.

Are you alowed to freely filom this or do you need permission?

I wish they had superliner cars in the east. They only have one-level viewliners.
