  • Whoa...

  • Semper Fi to all of those WWII veterans. I'm glad i'm part of our brotherhood

  • I'm glad this was made, I'm so tired of the whole ETO coverage. Although I do have to admit I liked the characters in B.O.B. just a bit more then in The Pacific, but it's still a great watch by all means.

  • A good series and a very different flavour from Band of Brothers (which is still my favourite account of the two). I'd agree Snafu ("Situation Normal: All Fucked Up" or perhaps in the Marines, "Situation Normal: Army Fucked up") was a gem of a character to play, but Leckie and Sledge I think resonated the most with me. Joseph Mazello was a bloody revelation.

  • I wonder if Steven Spielberg is going to focus on WW2 in the Philippines -there's plenty of material to work with there too...

  • Spielberg you bloody legend!

  • Last episode was the best and it was almost as good as Band of Brothers

  • The korean war, a.k.a the forgotten war. Sad...

  • thumbs if u didnt know the guy who played sledge also was the boy in jurassic park!

  • the only good thing about war is a movie - Dont kill in reallife

  • The most incredible experience would to be able to dress up as a WWII soldier and have no lines just act like your literally in the battle.

  • Pacific had amazing special effects.

  • I think Spielberg needs to do a series on the Korean war, to many people over look it.

  • @MeAndMyUnicorn have you seen "Brotherhood". thats an excellent Korea film. Very heavy.

  • @pianospawn1 Yer i have, that wass an amazing movie

  • it would be cooler if it where a german platoon in europe!

  • Descriptions from the book With the old breed from Peleliue and Okinawa is not quite correct, When we look at the beach of Okinawa Eugene B sledge writes in his book that they met very little resistance on the beach with only sporadic artillery. But The Pacific is quite diffrent. They show that there was heavy fighting at the beach, Something that did not fit from the book. But otherwise... This is a damn good series, And in my opinion its mutch better then Band of Brothers.

  • @NorthernNorwayDigger actually the beaches on okinawa were almost exactly like iwo jima

they got our troops on the beaches and lowerd our worry and then cut us up when we were last expected it and blew us to hell with artillary and the army went north and the marines fought south but actiually the marines had the easy part....

  • @MRPSU101 oh and Peleliu from all the vets ive talked to its exactly how it was descripted

  • I love this show I can't get enough of it

  • "Snafu" was the best character in this one. Very well played by Rami Malek.

  • @femaleqari he talked like a fucking retard every time he spoke. half the stuff he said i couldnt understand. sledge's character was the best because it showed how he progressed throughout the series from becoming an ill young kid, to a ruthless and war torn man

  • @xXmonstazXx Well, we all have different opinions. I stil think Snafu was best :-) But hey it does not mean I do not like Sledge.

  • @femaleqari I agree - great performance.

  • This is my favorite WWII documentary I've even read all those guys books:)

  • I sure hope that HBO will be making more World War II series' with Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

  • I prefered band of Bothers over this movie, but this one was really good too, dont get me wrong ! ;P

  • @atixamd It's not a movie bro

  • @mrelliottjackson Miniserie then *

  • I hope the make another like this.

  • yeh but Eastwood was brave enough to do something for the Japanese - they died for their country as well (not arguing about the regime - same for Jerry) and they suffered bravely just as much as the Yanks if not much more - they had no food for a start so they did suffer much more

  • Excellent !

Is there the same making of for Band of Brothers ?

  • A Vietnam series would be fucking awesome. The war lasted so damn long in Vietnam, it would be such a huge series.

  • i love the actors they picked for this

  • @abdg32esd23 Damn that would be cool, like a platoon of Russian soldiers.

  • The worst thing about the pacific is that they kept taking you out of the war. BoB really didn't do that.

  • Spielberg - Hanks ... I'd like to see more their films! About WWII. What about series about tank crew during European war 1944-1945. Or African-Italian period. There is no many films about battles in Tunisia or operation Torch.

  • Great series. WWII's brutality was unequaled. The European theatre and Pacific theatre each had their own "DNA" of misery, horror and violence. My dad still to this day can't talk about it after all of these decades. We can only imagine the what humans suffered through.

  • I want the Navy's point of view! It would be cool too see some Navy battles.

  • how can 29 people dislike this!?? there probably japanese.....

  • To barraki150 watch the movie Letter's From Iwo Jima (This is the island that Basilone was killed on), great movie. Ken Watanabe amazing actor

  • I hope 1 day there will come a movie from the japanese point of view. Really, just imagine how it was crawling in those small tunnels knowing a flamethrower will come any minute..

  • @barraki150 Letters from iwo jima bro. Clint Eastwood film, pretty epic, but you have to read the subtitles

  • @barraki150 clint eastwood already did one, its called letters from iwo jima and its a fantastic movie

  • They are making a mini-series about the civil war. It's called "Cotton: if we knew it was gonna cause all of these problems, we would have picked it ourselves"

Supposed to be filmed in Harlem at the McDonalds!

  • Amazing, the best war movie series I have ever seen!

  • I heard the next HBO war series will be about the Civil War and its called To Appomattox. It will be finished in 2013.

  • The BEST EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The eastern front wil be a good 1

  • @stonecoldkiller33 Yeah i agree. Or maybe some RAF pilot in the battle of Britain

  • no democracy ....no success

  • VFX at its best!

  • By the sounds of it, they are going to make another part of this series probably dealing with the pilots that fought in the pacific. Cuase if you have read the book they included a group of pilots that went through midway on the USS Enterprise.

  • @falcon3268 that would be awesome! maybe they could make something out of the vietnam war?

  • Interesting Trivia: the majority of the Japanese soldiers are actually Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean. The producers and staff had a hard time trying to recruit Japanese actors to play the role. Many Japanese refused to be part of the series.

  • @TheStickUpKid187 Because the Japs knew this was an American movie and knew they were going to loose.

  • @thesoutherncross100 it just reminds them of WWII and their defeat and like to forget about it, same with Band of Brothers, the majority of the German soldiers are actually French, Dutch, British and Polish. The krauts refuse to be part of the series.

  • HBO should make one about a german company of the 6th army. Following them from the plains of russia, Stalingrad all the way back to the battle of the buldge.

  • Contest started: goo.gl\QyzJ5 - obtain iPad 2.

  • what is the name of the first song?

  • Is Rami Malek black or white? I can't really tell... lol.

  • HBO should do a series about the Korean war or the Vietnam war.

  • @xXSgtWolfXx I've heard there's rumors they might do a series on the Korean war and the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir.

  • This shows how good Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are in making movies and series!

  • Comment removed

  • one of the band of brothers soldier is in pacific

  • @munez95 which one?

  • @Scope1468 dont know my mate saw him, in episode 3, or 5 they re sitting a table and one of them pull out a nazi flag and he said he got it from the european wr

  • 2 questions. 1) at around 10:30, the guy yelling at Leckie "We've got to get out of the beach", is this guy Hoosier? I rewatched the episode the other day and I couldn't tell (still can't actually). 2nd question: could someone tell me what kind of bonus there is in the Pacific dvd set? Is there something about boot camp like for BoB or something? Thanks for answering :)

  • KILL THEM JAPS!!

  • To me this series was a major disappointment! Honestly they should have left out the Basilone story and stuck with leckie and sledge. Chose a different actor for sledge and not made the series so overly dramatic

  • @notredale123 you sir have no sense of what a masterpiece is. At least respect the veterans and their stories

  • @TheIncarceron Pardon me for having an opinion! Seriously, did you take time to consider what i thought or did you just say the first thing that came to mind? In no way did i say that i didn't respect their stories. Most people would agree that you shouldn't mix love and war and the pacific does that. Mind you, i think the combat is terrific, just the acting is uneven at times and overly dramatic. I didn't see the Basilone story relevant after the 2nd episode and Jon Seda was just awful!

  • exactly they should make one about the vietnam war

  • @mofogek While i do agree with you, they've already made a ton of Vietnam War movies. I don't see how they could surprise anyone with a new story line. Not that it wouldn't be a great series, it's just that i think they've made enough. I kind of agree with the top thumbs up guy about making one about Korea cuz it's not well known.

  • what about a vietnam mini series HBO full of intense drama and action could make a pretty good series, thumbs up if anyone agrees.

  • American marines scooped out the gold tooth of Japanese soldiers who still lived with a knife.Anne Morrow Lindbergh

  • @SOVIETasTheINVADER and now ?

  • @killerrj8 Charles Augustus Lindbergh wrote "The Wartime Journals of Charles A. Lindbergh" during Pacific War.Yes,the book includes the episode of the goled tooth of Japanese soldiers. And after WW2 American marines raped 20,000 Japanese women around Tokyo and Yokohama for 6 months. And Now,American marines rarely rape Japanese girls in Okinawa. It is big progress.

  • @SOVIETasTheINVADER yes but that with the gold tooth is also in the movie ? then japan shouldn't have attacled the USA

  • @killerrj8 Yes,you are right . But Spielberg conceal the fact of scooping Japanese gold teeth. He likes refined marine .I read that Director James Cameron plans a movie of Hiroshima in Wikipedia.Spielberg is a hypocrite, but Cameron is an artist.

  • @SOVIETasTheINVADER did u even watch the series ? In episode 6 there is that guy from the mortar from the 1st battalion that is in on Pelelieu after the landing and he took a knife and scooped some teeth out of the japanese

  • @killerrj8 its in 2 or 3 episodes

  • @bringtherain5 i know. I watched every episode

  • @killerrj8 Sorry, the Japanese soldier was still alive. But the marine seems to only cut the living Japanese soldier's mouth . He doesn't seem to scoop the Japanese gold teeth. By the way, there is a scene that Japanese soldiers make Japanese inhabitants shields for the soldiers in Okinawa. That is an absolute forgery of the history by Spielberg and Hollywood .Spielberg should apologize for Okinawa Defence Force.

  • Could watch it

  • @brooksfishing96 that would so graphic, I don't know If I CPI

  • They've got to make one of Vietnam

  • the japanese guys look vietnamese........

  • I HATE U.S.A

  • @stephanluvu fucking hater

  • @stephanluvu Fuck You !

  • Responder a este vídeo... Amazing Miniserie.

  • @stephanluvu sure sure, take a pill and get back in to you your stray jacket ...

  • HBO should make one about the Korean Wars. People don't really know that much about it. Thumb up anyone?

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL Good idea. I'd love to see a depiction of Inchon or Chosin Reservoir.

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL I totally agree with u, completely. I study a lot about ww11 and Vietnam. But I honestly don't know that much about the Korean war.

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL or Vietnam war?

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL Either that or a Vietnam series.

  • @Dregkar or even both!

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL They should make about Finland's winter war, i bet you americans don't know anything about it.

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL Why not the great world war? Wouln't that be awesome thing to see? =D

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL watch "into the fire" great movie

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL true, and all movies on the korean war. were made in korea, they aren't in english

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL It's been done. Eleven seasons of M*A*S*H.

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL me and my great uncle, who fought in it (USMC), agree with you

  • @iTECHNOCENTRAL i'm certaily up for it. A war that divided a country in two, aftermath that affects the whole word now wtih all the tragedies happening in North Korea. I also hesitate, since I do not want the regualr American viewers to forever identify Korea with only the war, and not with the people and all the cultures Korea has to offer.

  • Spielberg has become John Wayne. The Concept of Good War makes a genius director foolish.

  • @SOVIETasTheINVADER looks like one Japanese person dislike this

  • @SOVIETasTheINVADER We need John's. No one else can bring up the true memory's.

  • the thing about this series that really broke through to me and made it feel so real and so heartbreaking were the details, things that even when the vets tell their stories get lost. like the flies buzzing everywhere, the bodies that couldn't be removed and the inescapable dirt. the grime and mud and caked up dried blood, days of sweat just on every centimeter of these guys, their clothes, their hands. with that, you can just begin to picture the stench which is also never mentioned.

  • why no body makes a movie of japanese straglers after WWll.. that a good story how they survived in the junlge alone like lt. hiroo onoda in lubang island here in philippines didn't know that the war was over for almost 30 years,. thumbs-up if you agree...

  • i luv Rami!!!! he was sooo good playing snafu!!!

  • 0:40 travie mccoy

  • @MrBiena89

that's rami malek not travie mccoy

  • i love the pacifique :')

  • The Pacific, Band Of Brothers, and Generation Kill, best fucking series ever!!!!

  • @P0wnedChickenEffects whas Generation kill?

  • @P0wnedChickenEffects amen to that :D

  • @P0wnedChickenEffects i know it wasnt part of a series, but we were soldiers was good too

  • Marines, home of the brave, and home of the tough, Semper Fi "Always faithful" Marines are tough!!. They are mighty and true, they protect our freedom for me and you, Honor Courage and comitment is so true, it's all about protecting the red , the white and the blue!!!. Marines will never retreat break or bend, they're ready to fight and defend. We are proud of our military, I’m proud to say, and God Bless this country, USMC OoooH Raahh all day!

  • "I've been making movies since I was 5 years old" at 0:26. Really?? LOOL

  • @nddavi58 yeah, he was the little boy from Jurassic Park...

  • @nddavi58 he's an actor

  • hey what are they using for the gunshots? o.O

  • @nbajose305 Blank rounds

  • @skyfiller12 Yeah but the show mash took place during the korean war and that show lasted 11 years, its interesting that one of the longest running shows in tv history took place over the course of only three years

  • I would love to be an extra in a movie like that

  • WOW i

  • N. Korea and S. Korea are technically still at war.

  • The Korean cease-fire was signed July 27, 1953, and has never

been replaced by a formal peace treaty. It was signed by North Korean & Chinese

military leaders on one side, and by the U.S.-led United Nations command on the

other. No South Korean representatives signed the agreement, which was always

    intended as a temporary measure.

On May 27, 2009 North Korea announced that it no longer considers itself bound

    by the cease-fire agreement.

Korea remains a very touchy subject.

  • They need a korean war its forgotten people have to remember.

  • Would LOVE to see a decent budget production regarding the Falklands war. Visuals alone would be superb....Have watched an Argentinian production from 2008 called Blessed By Fire - That is brilliant and well made. Really would like to see something from the British perspective though. Have read some amazing accounts.

  • I want a movie about the Falklands war!! :)

  • this is a great mini show

  • we need a vietnam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thier has to be a tunnel rat in the group, my principle was a tunnle rat. i got to tal to him about shitt. he came across a whole hospital, he didnt say what he did after he found it, but i think its implied.

  • @scaryzack

Watch "We Were Soldiers" its good

  • It's never a war movie without Tom Hanks..

  • Ok - credit!! LOL

  • Rami malek is going to be one hell of an actor in a couple of years. holy shit he's good.

  • Everything the US was built on???? Take a closer look at every war we have been in to see what America has been built on. Cash!

  • @SEAVet69 Cash? American got no cash.. lol

  • does anyone know what branch Captain Dale Dye is from? I always thought he was Army for Band of Brothers.

  • @Silentstorm231 Marine corps according to wiki

  • HBO really knows how t do things right The pacific, Band of brothers, Generation kill all amazing documentaries. God bless al that fought and died for the United states we all have you in our hearts.

  • The Pacific is the closest thing to being there with out actually being there. God Bless all the Troops of the 1st Marine Div and all of the Troops Past Present and Future who have given or will give the ultimate sacrafice to keep our Country Safe from tieraney God Bless you all and you're Famlies.God Bless America...

  • The Peleliu landing scene is one of the most epic, well-done and powerful scenes I've seen in any war film. And I've seen a LOT of war films.

  • Only somebody that has no grasp on history would make the comment that America would be embarrassed by a series on Vietnam. The American military DID NOT LOSE the Vietnam war - Washington and its money-mongers did. I was there and we had many men and women who gave their lives believing their country was behind them. You sir are a fool and the embarrassment that you talk of.

  • @SEAVet69 i'm not anti-america or anything, but in my opinion 58,212 american deaths in south Vietnam alone, $686 billion spent on a war that achieved very little, especially since it was pretty much anti- everything the USA was built and based on under no circumstances, even if these so called Washington money-mongers gave funding to the military, true victory could never have been achieved. As part of victory is that yes you win, but the people are happy with it and the country is not cripled

  • my grandfather was in the marines and this miniseries made me truly appreciate what he went through every day on these little islands

  • I dont understand why they couldn't just go and FILM at the actual iwo jima?

  • Last weekend i lost my spoon lure in Guadalcanal...what a pity ...

  • God bless AMERICA and its ARMY,NAVY,AIRFORCE, and of course the MARINES!

  • Why are there dislikes?

  • one problem...I wasn't acting

  • hey how bout korea. it is time to make the forgotten war into a movie that respect the ones who sacrificed their lives.

  • The opening scene on every episode with the music is my favourite part.

  • this series and the band of brothers series were both great i loved them! stephen and hanks next prodject should be vietnam or iraq/afghanistan

  • @Devildog1591 HBO already has a series based on the Afghanistan war. Have you heard of Generation Kill?

  • @naomilygirl yeah ive heard of it but isnt that about the invasion of iraq in 2003? i heard it wasnt that good either probably cause hanks and steven did not do it.

  • @Devildog1591 Oh yes, I was mistaken, sorry. I don't know too much about it except it's not connected to BoB or The Pacific, so....I guess I'm not very interested. I'll probably still watch it though!

  • @naomilygirl its all good. yeah for sure i feel the same way

  • @TSbowker Well i do agree with Vietnam but the Falklands well i dont know. The Falklands was'nt that devastating then WWII, what i'm trying to say is that Falklands did'nt have much of an impact with military history as opposed to WWI II And Vietnam. Also another thing is that the Falklands did'nt have any US Involvement, so the chances of an American film company making something that involved the British are slim unfortunetly.

  • yeah , let's we see a miniseries IN VietNam ,

  • 5:44 Caroline Dhavernas?

  • I see 25 Jap's still can't get over the fact they lost.

    Semper Fi!!

  • Snafu is the best! (to me ofcourse)

I think they should make another mini serie about the Falkland or Vietnam like TSBowker says

  • but i want a big 'war' movie without sex scene , ihate it
