its paiste or nothin . i dare anyone to show me a non paiste hi hat that can make a more awsome sound then my vintage 3000 series sound edge hi hat . paiste is an industry standard in my book. i got paiste cymbols from both the old swiss shop and the new shop in germany , both are exelence . any serious drummer will prefer paiste.
I went to test paiste brilliant alpha 18 crash at my music shop, it was no were near as good as stagg furia rock 18 crash which i bout for £40 less and is absoloutly awesome. CHECK EM OUT
i played zildian zxt's 16" and 18" and they're gone after a year, ive been looking to replace them and im thinking paiste is the way to go, just don't know which version. i play rock and do sometimes use the 18" crash as a crash/ride but they're both completely destroyed. anyway, im looking into something that has a nice crash, whether playing a more soft-rock tune or something i can wail on and don't have to worry about cracking for a bit, and on the >$100 side.. any suggestions?
@crazy4milk Whaaaaa? That statement is just insane to me. Go to their website and listen to any cymbal from 2oo2 and up. They are so crazy good sounding. I am currently in the middle of converting from Sabian to Paiste and it was a great decision.
paiste...sabian and meinl...all those companies get their ideas from zildjian!!!the ONLY LEGENDARY CYMBAL MAKERS!!!zildjians always have a good sound ever!!!how do you say that paiste is legendary??if they are only 15 years in cymbal making business??zildjian is the best>A CUSTOM , K CUSTOM AVEVIS and ARMAND..top em all!!!i have A CUSTOM cymbal pack..sound great.
sabian hhx beats all this shit I will tell you, and beleive me Ive had heaps of cymbals to tittu on upwards of 150 , the hhx is the best so chew of that one for a while..tarrrrrr
I`m busy ditching them too haha :P started with a 14" pst5 china that wasnt expensive and sounds good, 2nd bought a pst5 8" splash, also def nog bad :) and today I`m proud I bought a 10"thin splash and 16" medium crash.... Those last 2 are from the Alpha series :P I like the sound of em, gonna try em out tonight with my band haha (A)
Don't listen to the Zildjian lovers, Paiste certainly has always been in better quality (German) unlike other companies where they mass produce cymbals as if they were toys. Why does it have to be a competition anyway?
ive got the 14'' 2002 sound -edge hats which ive grown to love ! thinking of maybe a 16'' full sig crash and an 18'' sig fast crash - i actually prefer the sound of the 2002 rides to the signature rides so im looking for a beastly 24'' 2002 ride ! only heard it but never tried it - has anyone got either sig crashes or the 24'' ride and think theyre good ?
you are crazy. Paiste is legendary and you cannot deny the crisp amazing sounds just because you are a zildjian fan. 2002s, Signatures, RUDES and the alpha series. all amzing lines plus all the others
Helllll no man!! i have Paiste after Zildjian and i Can Tell you, as a professional Drummer that i Am, Paiste its for so much far, Better than Zildjian and Sabian!!
Hey Goerge...if you look on the end of that stick you will see a tip...very useful in the playing of cymbals and such. Why would you demo hats and ride cymbals with the shaft of the stick? Hi-hats played properly have on entirely differently sound. With that said, I do think Paiste are probably the best sounding cymbals on the market, just overpriced.
the twenty's are paiste's answer to zildjian k constantinoples..only with a brilliant finish..great powerful cymbals with that classic turkish cymbal tone and sound....also , i just went deaf with that 20 inch bell ride and the nicko mcbrain signature ride..OUCH !!

they sound fucking GREAT!! Especially the 2002 sound edge ones, they are loud as shit open and they are actually REALLY versatile, but they dont really do that well in REALLY low volume situations, like light jazz in a really small club
" I have a 20in zil cust K that's perfect for riding AND crashing" Perfectly False.
Any quality crash is better for riding and crashing. Understand me?
Ride Cymbals are extremely ltd. cymbals in application. Variety Crashes are better in general. Young plyrs on ltd $ need not waste time on ride cyms. BUY VERSATILE CRASHES. FORGET RIDES! Ex. If you had to buy 1 cymbal for eternity for every application in the world for all styles it would be a 18-19 zil A med crash.

Nothing is wrong with me but maybe you.
I just want to say it again for young drummers reading.. When buying cymbals especially if you're on a budget. STAY AWAY FROM ANY SIZE RIDE CYMBALS IN GENERAL. The reason in general is crash cymbals example. 18,19,20 are great crashes and excellent "ride" cym. RIDE CYMBALS ARE AWFUL AT BOTH. Avoid them.
Dude, you have no idea what youre talking about. maybe thats the case for some, but youre speaking for all. Ex. I have a 20 inch zildjian k custom dark ride that is perfect for riding AND crashing. You probably only play punk or just straght rock or metal. Riding on the crash is clearly overused in those particular genres, leading me to believ thats what you play. Expand your knowledge my friend.
i play rock and metal, but somtimes iget bored and play some jazz stuff. i would agree wit u, people use rides way to much as crashes. it doesnt even sound right.
i think a RIDE CYMBAL will be better for riding than a crash cymbal which is for crashing, not riding. anyway you should encourage them to buy both and just save up
are these better cymbals than sabian i play gospel i love sabian but i do have a paiste 13" psc 3 crash not my favor it but very durable i want to try a better paiste crash like the psc 5 mayb 16" fo more power
pst3 series are basically the updated version of the 101s, still brass and for beginners, the pst5 series is made similar to the sheet bronze which the 2002 series is made from, there also very cheap. They sound alot better to sabian B8 or zildjians zbt/zht/zxt cymbals. If you want the next level then go for the alphas, but 2002s and sigs for me
Cymbal talk to the young boys with limited. money!!! If buying Paiste(super$) get ONLY Signatures in 3 sizes and in this order 1st 18med,19med,17med crash. DO NOT BUY TRASHES EVER! They're useless as well. Do NOT BUY RIDE CYMBALS! Ride cymbals are useless as crashes and have an extremely limited application. I'm assuming most readers here are young and playing rock. No more than 3cym on a kit. NO SPLASH cym! You've not played long enough to know what the hell to do with them anyway. Ask away.
um why are you trying to dictate what cymbals people use. splashes are used for accents and for riding on some occasions everybody knows this. ride cymbals shouldent be used to crash anyway there for riding. if its your kit then do what you want but i dont think anyone is goig to take the advice of a randomer on youtube
Man...is useles because the rides first of all are for RIDING buy thin if you want crash the rides in Paiste has some specifications that any other brand has like a big bell ride, the Zildjian sound like a piece of metall being hit and not pingy at all...the Meinl is almost the same thing..almost,the Sabian is good but to small for the vibration to go throught he cymbal to make the full tone 22"and Paiste has a 24inch and pingy so,and splashes are in preference too,but my main point is the rides.
2002's, twenty's, alphas, giant beats and signatures are pretty versatile lines so look into them. If your into jazz, afro cuban or dry and trashy sounds then new signatures and traditionals are perfect. Check the paiste site if you want to hear the individual cymbal sounds.
The big crashes and thin hats beautiful. Im on a budget and alpha hats and rides work very well for me and if i need a jazz sound i use sticks with the tip cut off.
I wish he'd quit hitting all the cymbals with the shaft of the drumstick. He's hitting everything like they're all crashes. We wanna hear what all the cymbals really produce, especially rides that need to be hit proper with the tips. I couldn't hear the difference in any of them cause this clown from Paiste was hitting everything with the shaft of the drumstick.
What do you think of the new black Alphas and RUDES that Joey from Slipknott uses and helped make. I think they look amazing. Dose any body esle have an opinon. Let me know.
I tried a 15 inch thin 2002 last sunday. It must beautiful. Seriously stunning. Obviously being more af an effects cymbal at 15 inch i wouldnt use it as a main cymbal. But the sound is superb. Sounded far better than any of the A customs or avedis i tried.
I dont like any cymbal sound more than what Paiste offers. I use a lot of the 2000, and 3000 series cymbals, and they always capture the sound in my head.
They're incredible, I just bought a set and they're by far the best hats I've ever owned and I've worked in a drum store so I've tried literally hundreds.
Correction: Carl Palmer begins playing the 24" China Type at 6:16/17. It is the big cymbal, facing the screen, on the right side of the screen. He plays it upside right--which, to me is a better sound than playing it upside down. I play my 2002 22" upside right, and I love it!
I can't live w/o my 2002 Paiste's. I am fortunate to have one of the 1970's 22" 2002 Rides, and the sound is absolutely awesome. Also, the 13" Sound Edge high hats really cut through. I also use a 22" 2002 Medium crash, 24" 2002 Ride(which I use as a crash)a 22" china type, 17" crash/ride, 4,5, and 7 "cup chimes and 4,6, and 8" accent cymbals. All these metals are like a gold mine, in my opinion. Paiste's never crack. I've had them for years. Treat them with kid gloves--you wont be sorry.
have no shame on switching cymbals dude. its all you, just follow your ears. if you like pAisTe better then stop thinking it and do it. im about to change from K zildjian to 2002 and signature from pAisTe.
If you'd like to hear the sound of a 2002 24" China, type in "CaliforniaJammer1974".Click on Emerson, Lake and Palmer Karn Evil 9 1st Impression Part 2, and listen/watch Carl Palmer's drum solo. He used a 24" there, which he starts playing on at 6:10 into the clip. That drum set weighs 1.5 tons, by the way. Made of stainless steel. No drum stands, he invented the idea for drum racks, and clawless bass drum hoops, clear back in 1973!
i would definately get paiste over sabian, in my opinion i found sabian to be a bit ear piercing eg AAXplosion crashes, paiste give away a nice sound to em, i use the alphas and they are absolutely amazing are a really good price, even thought there supposedly mid-range cymbals loads of professionals still use em for all sorts of music, jazz to heavy metal etc, but my opinion maybe different to other people, its all down to ur personal preference but if i was u i would get paiste over sabian
yeah i know what you mean. I've got sensitive ears so finding the right cymbals has always been a problem :S I'm currently using AAX dark crashes which i still find harsh on the ear. I've been thinking about trying some paiste or zildjian k hybrids, though they're fucking expensive lol.
lol i dont mind zildjian, they r nice cymbals but the prices of the best zildjians i.e A customs, Z customs r way too high, but the paiste signatures r alot aswell, in my opinion the paiste alphs r the best cymbals i have ever heard but thats just my opinion tho
Paiste rocks I mean you can actually buy the cymbals (unlike zildjian) and you get a lot of quality. Even low line paiste cymbals are good not just for live playing but for recording too.
yeah they really are, they're over looked quite a bit because zildjian seem so popular, particularly the A custom series but I really like the warmth and sustain you get with some paiste crash and rides =]
This video have a bad audio quality. Maybe is the audio encoding. Very beautiful cymbals sounds. The sounds of the most Paiste is very clear, warmh and sweet.;-)
paiste is class. I love their cymbal sound and quality as well as their versatility. I'm not a massive fan of the rudes but all their other lines are incredible
can anyone please please tell me what model of cymbal that is what hes hitting at 3:38. im trying to find out cos it sounds soo nice. thanks to anyone that can help
man i want sum RUDE's and sum Alpha's so badly. He shud hav said wat series those were in cuz they soundd pretty good. i herd paiste's break easily though.
all other cymbals just sound like wood on metal. but paiste is a true sound

I can't wait for the Paiste Black Alpha series.
COLUMBINE1818 3 years ago
have no shame on switching cymbals dude. its all you, just follow your ears. if you like pAisTe better then stop thinking it and do it. im about to change from K zildjian to 2002 and signature from pAisTe.

Yup. All you do is call Paiste America. They will make a 24", but you have to buy it through your local(favorite ) music store.

No drum stands, he invented the idea for drum racks, and clawless bass drum hoops, clear back in 1973!

god i love those brilliant finish crashes. I'm getting more and more persuaded to switch from sabian to paiste if i'm being honest.
wolfy18 3 years ago
i would definately get paiste over sabian, in my opinion i found sabian to be a bit ear piercing eg AAXplosion crashes, paiste give away a nice sound to em, i use the alphas and they are absolutely amazing are a really good price, even thought there supposedly mid-range cymbals loads of professionals still use em for all sorts of music, jazz to heavy metal etc, but my opinion maybe different to other people, its all down to ur personal preference but if i was u i would get paiste over sabian
123Baggies 3 years ago
yeah i know what you mean. I've got sensitive ears so finding the right cymbals has always been a problem :S I'm currently using AAX dark crashes which i still find harsh on the ear. I've been thinking about trying some paiste or zildjian k hybrids, though they're fucking expensive lol.
wolfy18 3 years ago
lol i dont mind zildjian, they r nice cymbals but the prices of the best zildjians i.e A customs, Z customs r way too high, but the paiste signatures r alot aswell, in my opinion the paiste alphs r the best cymbals i have ever heard but thats just my opinion tho
123Baggies 3 years ago
Look Zildjian is amazing but I just prefer pAisTe.
TheMakyoura 3 years ago 2
20" crash omg
akosijimmy 3 years ago
Paiste rocks I mean you can actually buy the cymbals (unlike zildjian) and you get a lot of quality. Even low line paiste cymbals are good not just for live playing but for recording too.
TheMakyoura 3 years ago
Watch Zildjian videos of how they are made, theyput as much love and care into their cymbals, just like paiste.
Barbosa123 3 years ago
i play alphas

i've honestly never heard of paiste before, but now that i've done a little research i realize their cymbals sound amazing
nosocks4life 3 years ago 3
yea dude i have a full set of those cymbals their same quality as zildjian and sabian, no doubt
mouthforwar1 3 years ago
yeah they really are, they're over looked quite a bit because zildjian seem so popular, particularly the A custom series but I really like the warmth and sustain you get with some paiste crash and rides =]
tommathytorrent 3 years ago
This video have a bad audio quality. Maybe is the audio encoding. Very beautiful cymbals sounds. The sounds of the most Paiste is very clear, warmh and sweet.;-)
VittorioPetrina 3 years ago
paiste is class. I love their cymbal sound and quality as well as their versatility. I'm not a massive fan of the rudes but all their other lines are incredible
phatphace 3 years ago
y dont u like rudes?
McBc666 3 years ago
I don't play heavy metal. I have no use for the sound
phatphace 3 years ago 2
Their Giant Beat reissues are the best cymbals I've ever played.

dwdrums200 3 years ago
man i want sum RUDE's and sum Alpha's so badly. He shud hav said wat series those were in cuz they soundd pretty good. i herd paiste's break easily though.
owaaaa984 3 years ago
If you play any cymbal incorrectly, it will break. If you play any cymbal correctly, it won't break.

Who the hell plays on TOP of the HH with the shaft of a drumstick?
Sacryfyx 3 years ago 5
are pst 5 universal better then the zildjian K custom and A custom? i wanna buy cymbals but i dunno T_T
chickenticken 3 years ago
You can´t compare pst5s with K Customs or A Customs...
They´re a different class take highclass Paiste cymbals 2002 or signature
Schlomoasdf 3 years ago
a and k customs are 10000x better than pst 5.
pst5 are the lowest b8 serie of paiste
metallifukinca 3 years ago
it really shows how crappy your cymbals are when you hear these. man i want a whole set.
