  • BS! I've seen Dewalts fall off ladders and the cases broke. I guess you have to drop it just right. Maybe Dewalt should move their plants to the US since they're already charging US built prices. I have Dewalt batteries made in Japan and Mexico. Why are they so damn expensive???????

  • i've seen 4 XRPs break now.

makita all the way, cheaper, better batteries, more powerful and more reliable.

  • i love my dewalt tools. i use dewalt exclusively. i just wish the 18v batteries were not so expensive.a couple of days ago ,after 3 years of heavy hard use,my 18v dewalt drill finally started smoking. it lasted longer and worked harder than any drill ive ever had.i bought another one today. ill have to save up for a while for replacement baterries though.

Drills can fail because the carbon brushes on the motor wear out and all they require is to have the brushes replaced, if such was the situation, you could save yourself the cost of a new tool.

  • @WordWiseful Well now I hadn't thought of that. I still have the old drill, maybe I'll just take it apart and have a look. Thanks!!

  • @bctruck

Sure, not a problem, the process to replace the brushes, is relatively simple and would probably take 5-10 mins.
