Mr. Fluck, as mentioned earlier, has owned this car since 1971, and I enjoyed an occasional ride in it as Mr. Fluck also happens to be a top-knotch trombone player and I took private lessons from him when I was a kid in the mid-70s.
Mr. Fluck definitely knows the engine has sparkplugs, and he knows it's not an Impala. His car-savvy and personal collection of literature is impressive.
LOL! I know the owner of this Imperial very well. Believe me, he knows exactly what he has! This guy lives, eats, breathes 56 Imps. He has owned this low mileage car since 1971. I have owned a few Imperials also, its amazing how people who aren't familiar with them get them all mixed up with other cars. If he said it was a 54 Impala, he was just kidding around!
@tomsriv When you're done, please post a vid of it, thanks. My grandmother owned one, purchased new. She used to drive my cousins, my older brother and me down to the Jersey shore (waaaaaaaaay before Snooky ever did, we were kids).
Oh, it has spark plugs... he may have meant to say "No spark plug wires". It does have them, they are under the long black cap on top of the Valve covers. This is a beautiful example... amazingly nice condition. I own one, but it's just a driver. Or, more precisely, it WILL be a driver again when I get a new fuel pump. *sigh*
When he said no spark plugs, I think he was kidding everyone. On an aside, the factory installed air conditioning has some interesting details. The scoops located behind the rear window supplies air to the a/c system. The cold air comes out from a vent located on the back window shelf. Finally, half the a/c system is located in the trunk! Love old Imperials!
I guess he only knows how to clean the car. His comment "It's a Hemi no spark plugs" is all wrong. Maybe he just pushed it out of the garage? You think? I'll bet it has eight one for each cylinder.
This is a 1956 Imperial 4 door Southampton, a division of the Chrysler Corporation, the first year of the 4 door hardtop. It features air conditioning and the Highway HiFi record player. Contrary to what the narrator says, the Hemi engine has spark plugs, as well it is not an Impala.

54 Chrysler Impala? I'd like to park that next to my Honda Corolla.
