No offense. But if you can't hear the songs, you should turn up your speakers, or maybe get hearing aids. If you understood the laws of sound and motion, you would understand why the quality is so bad. I.E~THER'S THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THERE REDUCING THE QUALITY, OR THE CAMERA IS SO OLD.
...except they have no sound. Honestly, they look good, but they can't project for shit. I had to listen to the announcer to figure out what they were playing.
The camera was up at the pressbox and the speakers for the announcer were near the camera. Plus, the Rose Bowl was made in such a way that the sound just disappears and doesn't resonate in the stadium because it's so flat.
Someone can be as smart as they want, but being smart and unaccomplished will get you nowhere. So to me, the people who are accomplished and ambitious ARE the smart ones.
You're first comment is something people say when they're in denial of their school sucking. You don't have to petulant with a serious case of an inferiority complex just because you're writing this from the basement of Topeka State/Gonzaga/St. Mary's.
Actually it does. There's a reason why Google, Yahoo, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, Apple, etc. only seem do job fairs at Standford, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Cal Tech, and Harvard - it's because they're smarter.
I'm confuse to what was going on....Was that Univer. Cal Marching Band or UCLA. The Script Cal is kinda joke. There's nothing like The Ohio State University Marching Band and seeing Script Ohio. Go Bucks
It was the Cal Band not the UCLA band. However, they do the UCLA cheer in between our song because UCLA stole our fight song years ago and now have their own version. Also, about the Script Cal: The Ohio state one is too long and the only thing cool about it is the dotting of the "i". I think the script Cal (and script UCLA) looks better especially because of the ripple bow at the end.
@goldxmonkey Well, it is clear that Cal feels it is not right for UCLA to use the song in any capacity. This is Cal's fight song, always has been. It is embarrassing (and irritating) to hear two seperate universities (no matter what their organizational ties are) playing the same song during the same game. UCLA should simply use the fight song they finally came up with in '82. As a outsider, I would say the Cal fight song is not worth fighting for in the first place. Let them have it.
Here we go with tradition. C'mon, if we didn't have tradition we would be wearing the same dark colors that you wear. Talk to UCD about tradition, becuase UCLA has established itself as it's own seperate entity.
Well, I also prefer our other fight songs, "Fight for California" and "Sons of California" over "Big C" (your 'Sons of Westwood'). However, I like the glockenspiel (bells) and it's tradition, something UCLA doesn't have very much of being a younger school and all.
Plus, you have to admit......the UCLA band is kinda boring though individual UCLA band members are very nice. Cal Band is just more fun to watch. Even UCLA band members have admitted it to us.
I myself like Mihty Bruins better than Sons of Westwood (Big C or Sons of Cal,I forgot which one it is) as a fight song. But, IMO Cal's sounds too fast and the little bells don't help.
I must admit. Cal's band is pretty cool. Since we have the same fight song, it's funn, you can hear people saying the UCLA yell during the "Rah" part.
I love how they just stayed there for a good 20 seconds after the music stopped with the "Cal" script on the field.
Cal band great!

Then stop watching all of my videos and go away. Obviously, for you to watch more than one of my videos YOU weren't THAT bored by it.

agreed. Even drum corps couldn't fill the stadium at DCI like they usually do.
JakobderLugner 3 years ago
Yeah I was at DCI Championships at the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl doesn't do well for acoustics.

Both.

And wonderfalls, why do you keep coming back to this specific video? A CAL video, when you are a bRuin fan?
Your fUCLA degree couldn't get u a job? LOL I wonder how you are in person.

I think it's funny that the UCLA crowd did the UCLA yell to your band's song.
You're one to talk. You actually want a university to suck you off.
You're such a child.

Yep, you're right. Script Ohio is just waaaay too long and the only appeal to it is the dotting of the "i". Otherwise, a buckeye is a rotten nut.
srotagadirolf 5 years ago
i wouldnt say UCLA stole it, every UC shares the song as well as the colors blue and gold.
it was Cal's first, but IMHO i think UCLA made it better.
The UCLA and Cal's scripts are both cool.
btw, as a UCLA fan, im not trying to start something, i respect Cal as a school.
Go Bruins!!

We don't just "have the same fight song," you bastards stole it!
pincrakkah 5 years ago
We're like Avis, we made it better. :p
It's a diferent pacing. All the UC bands do it. Ask Stanford, they've been beaten by ever UC school, and that was just in 2005!
wonderfalls 5 years ago
In my opinion, the UCLA version sounds a lot more like an overture and not like a fight song. In turn, it sounds rather weak.
