As the Intelligence Operations Officer of our 4th US Armored Division in Goeppingen, Germany, I had the honor of receiving the first news of an imminent invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Red Army. Having been a victim of the Soviet Invasion into my home town Breslau, I decided to remove the Red Army's access to our Soviet Military Liaison Mission's Restricted Area. My boss, Colonel Antero Aakkula, who had fought against the mighty Red Army in his native Finland, had only one word: "Approved".
