Excellent Overview! In response to the flagged message below, I say to you: The idea that you could cure an allergy with a placebo is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Like ALL SCAMS, people self select. It just makes sense to certain individuals and hence they get hooked.
The common fatal flaw in the thinking process is always that the person attributes a result to the SCAM. They are not willing to consider any other reason for an "effect" such as placebo.
Look at how many SCAMS are active currently...and all done with a straight face.
