I honestly think that it was right for Angela and Jordan to end up together, they were pretty much meant for each other. Sure Brian obsesses over Angela and wrote the letter, but those were just words. Brian doesn't really love her. He frequently showed interest in other girls, and all he really wants is a girlfriend. But Jordan actually showed change. All of that time after he and Angela broke up he could have been with other girls, but he chose her. Which is major growth considering his past.
Oh God!!! This scene kills me! they only made one series but I like to think that a week after this scene, she tells Jordan where to go and goes to Brian. :)
It's been 2 days that I've started this show and I've already finished it. It's amazing how it shows in such a realistic way the relationships at the age of 15 or so.I mean really.Jordan and Angela have this special connection..one of the best couples ever.The way the were built-up was amazing.I don't doubt Brian's feelings which are def strong but Jordan truly loves her and he changed even though he did a lot to her before that.Sometimes the person who deserves you is not flawless.
I just imagine, if facebook was here in 1995 when the show was cancelled...or the show was aired in these days...if the community on facebook would save the show... maybe yes... because nowadays many ppl listen to voice of facebook (I hate FB and have acc here, but if it would save MSCL, i would love it :D)
Brian + Angela, definitely ! chemistry between them...the fact he loves so hardly and soooo long... Catalano is maybe attractive to girls..but he is simple guy, Angela deserves better one. She deserves to be loved for rest of her life... by Brian. He can make her happy, they can argue with each other, be angry and a few seconds later keep smiling... they are meant to be together. They are a real soulmates... for me, they will be together forever :))

I never liked Brian and I never thought he'd be good for Angela. He acted like he was entitled to her affection because he's a "nice" guy but I thought he came across as just as rude and insensitive as Jordan, just a LOT less attractive and "cool"....especially less attractive. Angela deserved a really truly awesome and wonderful and amazing guy, which Jordan wasn't, but Brian wasn't either.
@xxrebelangel eh. I agree with some stuff you said - Brian often was rude, insensitive. He is less "cool" but that hardly matters. What I disagree with is that Angela was so much better. Not that she - or anyone - doesn't deserve a person who will treat them with respect. But I don't think she's so much higher than Brian. She was a great character, but she was, like all of us, flawed. She could be rude and dismissive to peoples feelings too. She was human. So were Brian and Jordan.
Agree with most of that, but not all of it. They were all flawed -- equally. I personally prefer Angela with Jordan, probably because Jordan actually grew as a character over the series and most of that was due to Angela's influence. Angela generally made Jordan better, but she made Brian worse -- the incident with Delia Fischer is evidence of that. He wasn't that 'nice.' None of them were. They were human -- and kudos to the writers for writing them that way.
@idiotjello I'd ammend that to "they were all flawed except for Rickie". Rickie's the one character who was almost never mean or unfair to anyone. They sure were all fascinating though, and MAN did this scene make me wish there was a second season so I could see what happened next!
Jordan changed? When? He seemed just as functionally retarded at the end as he did in the beginning. He's so dumb, its hard to seem as anything but a disabled person. His part doesn't even require acting. Just someone who can stand there and look confused. He's basically a clown.
I think Jordan's purpose was to illustrate how smart girls often end up with dumb guys because they imagine there's more to them. The writers probably planned to split them up from the beginning.

I watched this show when I was about 13 and it killed me that Brian never ended up with her I always thought he was way better for her but my mom told me that's life and the nice guys usually get overlooked first :/
@pladpuss I always strongly identified with Brian (because I was the awkward, somewhat shy and very insecure outsider type when I was in school, and the Brian character perfectly captures how it feels to be that way), but even I can admit that Brian is no more or less a "nice guy" then Jordan. They both have their positive and negative traits, just like almost any other character on that show besides Rickie (who was pretty much perfect) and maybe Delia (who don't know much about).
I used to really like Jordan when I first watched the show because I was a teenager too. I think in growing up I've realized that there are better options out there than the typical pretty boy, so Brian appeals to me a lot more as a character. Also, it's awful that the series got canceled so unexpectedly, otherwise they might've been able to at least write in some kind of an ending last-minute and it wouldn'tve been such a let-down.

I know what happens next. Brian goes into the house and hangs himself. Meanwhile Angela and Jordan run their car into rayanne and ricky walking across the street and then they crash into a tree then the car explodes. And the dad goes to the other womens house to have sex with her. The parents get divorced. And Angelas sister is ignored as usual. The End.
Everyone thinks Brian is so great..Why? He lied in an earlier episode about Angela sleeping with Jordan and ruined her rep. Jordan said that he didn't have any feeling for Angela cause he wanted to hide his feelings. He asked her to have sex but he never forced her. When she didn't he broked up with her not because of the lack of sex but cause he felt she lied. He was truely sorry and tried to tell her he didn't write the letter. He always wanted her and even her mom thought he was sorry.

I think that youre right now looking back and watching this show again so many years later. It was well written and i think that this scene we just watched Angela had a small wake up call the next season probley would have been amazing its a shame it was cancelled. We have to remember when watching this was the 1st season thats where u get to know the characters ect.. its a setup for the show.
To be honest thinking about it with more maturity its the idea of Angela with Jordon that bothers me - not specifically Jordan himself - but the way he behaves with Angela... they just aren't mean't to be i think... it's all the drama of it that kept the relationship alive.
I was 16 when this show aired and it was like nothing I had seen before. I did not relate at all to 90210, and this spoke to me in a way that makes me happy it exited but sad that they didn't let this show grow. I suppose that's why I became such a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, it's the same show with vampires.

I'm Brian! I've just been through this a few months ago. I've wrote a lot a things to a girl, but she already has a Jordan. She readed it and chosed 'Jordan'! As much I feel Brian's pain (I certainly do), I cannot agree that Angela would ended up with Brian. The show's writers always wanted it to be real. The reality is that no girl would dump her good looking boyfriend to date some nice guy who really likes her. Brian's like me, who writes letters to "their girl", always end up alone.
i would : ) ... but girls like me are geeks themself and spend all their time filmmaking and writing about guys like you and don't have time for relationships - it can be annoying how things work out.. i think it's just naivety though. i think it changes for a lot of young people as they get older. I always interpreted it as the way angela was looking at him, she'd finally seen him for who he really was - and just because she got in the car... doesn't mean she wouldn't end up with him.

Everytime I watched this show, I felt Brian's pain. I crushed on guys like Jordan, but I would have fallen for a guy like Brian, if I knew he felt that way about me. I was so annoyed when this was cancelled. TV execs are so out of touch. They didn't give this show enough time, and now the one season they aired are classics.

the coolest thing about this show was how flawed and rounded the characters were. I mean it's clear that Jordan is not the greatest bf in the world but you can also tell that he does care for angela. And angela knows that jordan isnt the perfect guy for her that brian might be but she cant help but be swayed by Jordan's good looks and intensity even though they dont provide much substance.

I think if this show could have gone a few seasons Angela would have went back forth between Jordan and Brian. At this point when she finds out brian wrote the letter she may realize some feeling but she has jordan now and I would think she would see where that went for a while. I am sure he would screw something up again though. Angela would probably turn to Brian, and thus begins the back and forth just like Ross and rachel, and Ben/Felicty/Noel.

I just finished watching all 19 episodes on DVD. The only reason I even heard of the show was in connection with articles about another brilliant show that was canceled, Freaks and Geeks. They always mention both these shows in articles discussing great shows that were canceled. I never could have imagined how much I would love this show. I am so heart broken that the story is over. That there are no more episodes to watch. In fact just 10 minutes I watched this scene. Thanks for posting this.

1:10 to 2:10--one of the most beautiful minutes of the series, maybe the top. I actually find it more romantic than the hand-holding scene, because they don't even have to touch, they just look at each other. But that's just my opinion.
But then Jordan comes, and it's mock-romantic. It's such a role reversal for Angela, too. Previously all she could focus on was Jordan, now it's Brian. And he's in so much pain. Beautiful. GREAT acting by everyone.

There is a moment where I like Jordon and its in the christmas episode. In the end of that episode he lights a candle for Rickie. I thought it was a beautiful moment for him and I gradually started liking Jordon more, Just not with Angela. I like the idea of Rayanne and brian always have and always will. Not permanently but in a relationship of some kind. I feel those two characters could learn so much from each other. Theres not enough space for me to explain why i love that idea so much.

I agree... I love the evolution of Angela and Jordan. He started as nothing more than a crush who "leans great" but became a better person with a truly strong connection to her. I really do think Jordan and Angela would've grown stronger together, but the ending hints that she gets with Brian. It's sad either way.
I personally wonder what Claire Danes would have done herself in a similar situation if she had to choose between two characters like Brian and Jordan & if she would choose differently now.

In the DVD commentary for the pilot episode, one of the producers mentions that Claire had a crush on Jared Leto when they were shooting. Of course, he doesn't know exactly what she was thinking, but the character Jordan IS very crushable. :)

Okay, I heard about My So Called Life when I was reading reviews about "Life As We Know It" and how people compared the two shows. I can't believe how it is so modern like. This was what.... aired in 1992 1993? They talk exactly the same and all. I mean, all you have to do is add in a cellphone and a computer and wallah! It's a show worthy of NBC's 2007 line-up. Maybe if I did watch this, then it might have meant something. But I didn't, but oh well.

@xxrebelangel eh. I agree with some stuff you said - Brian often was rude, insensitive. He is less "cool" but that hardly matters. What I disagree with is that Angela was so much better. Not that she - or anyone - doesn't deserve a person who will treat them with respect. But I don't think she's so much higher than Brian. She was a great character, but she was, like all of us, flawed. She could be rude and dismissive to peoples feelings too. She was human. So were Brian and Jordan.

Agree with most of that, but not all of it. They were all flawed -- equally. I personally prefer Angela with Jordan, probably because Jordan actually grew as a character over the series and most of that was due to Angela's influence. Angela generally made Jordan better, but she made Brian worse -- the incident with Delia Fischer is evidence of that. He wasn't that 'nice.' None of them were. They were human -- and kudos to the writers for writing them that way.

Jordan changed? When? He seemed just as functionally retarded at the end as he did in the beginning. He's so dumb, its hard to seem as anything but a disabled person. His part doesn't even require acting. Just someone who can stand there and look confused. He's basically a clown.
I think Jordan's purpose was to illustrate how smart girls often end up with dumb guys because they imagine there's more to them. The writers probably planned to split them up from the beginning.

@pladpuss I always strongly identified with Brian (because I was the awkward, somewhat shy and very insecure outsider type when I was in school, and the Brian character perfectly captures how it feels to be that way), but even I can admit that Brian is no more or less a "nice guy" then Jordan. They both have their positive and negative traits, just like almost any other character on that show besides Rickie (who was pretty much perfect) and maybe Delia (who don't know much about).

I used to really like Jordan when I first watched the show because I was a teenager too. I think in growing up I've realized that there are better options out there than the typical pretty boy, so Brian appeals to me a lot more as a character. Also, it's awful that the series got canceled so unexpectedly, otherwise they might've been able to at least write in some kind of an ending last-minute and it wouldn'tve been such a let-down.

Everyone thinks Brian is so great..Why? He lied in an earlier episode about Angela sleeping with Jordan and ruined her rep. Jordan said that he didn't have any feeling for Angela cause he wanted to hide his feelings. He asked her to have sex but he never forced her. When she didn't he broked up with her not because of the lack of sex but cause he felt she lied. He was truely sorry and tried to tell her he didn't write the letter. He always wanted her and even her mom thought he was sorry.

It was well written and i think that this scene we just watched Angela had a small wake up call the next season probley would have been amazing its a shame it was cancelled. We have to remember when watching this was the 1st season thats where u get to know the characters ect.. its a setup for the show.

I was 16 when this show aired and it was like nothing I had seen before. I did not relate at all to 90210, and this spoke to me in a way that makes me happy it exited but sad that they didn't let this show grow. I suppose that's why I became such a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, it's the same show with vampires.

IN one episode he basically tells Angela that he has absolutely NO feelings for her, but tells her he's still like to fuck her if at all possible. He doesn't give shit about her, and Brian clearly has the entire time, but Angela's too thick to see it.

I'm Brian! I've just been through this a few months ago. I've wrote a lot a things to a girl, but she already has a Jordan. She readed it and chosed 'Jordan'! As much I feel Brian's pain (I certainly do), I cannot agree that Angela would ended up with Brian. The show's writers always wanted it to be real. The reality is that no girl would dump her good looking boyfriend to date some nice guy who really likes her. Brian's like me, who writes letters to "their girl", always end up alone.

I always interpreted it as the way angela was looking at him, she'd finally seen him for who he really was - and just because she got in the car... doesn't mean she wouldn't end up with him.

the coolest thing about this show was how flawed and rounded the characters were. I mean it's clear that Jordan is not the greatest bf in the world but you can also tell that he does care for angela. And angela knows that jordan isnt the perfect guy for her that brian might be but she cant help but be swayed by Jordan's good looks and intensity even though they dont provide much substance.

I think if this show could have gone a few seasons Angela would have went back forth between Jordan and Brian. At this point when she finds out brian wrote the letter she may realize some feeling but she has jordan now and I would think she would see where that went for a while. I am sure he would screw something up again though. Angela would probably turn to Brian, and thus begins the back and forth just like Ross and rachel, and Ben/Felicty/Noel.

I just finished watching all 19 episodes on DVD. The only reason I even heard of the show was in connection with articles about another brilliant show that was canceled, Freaks and Geeks. They always mention both these shows in articles discussing great shows that were canceled. I never could have imagined how much I would love this show. I am so heart broken that the story is over. That there are no more episodes to watch. In fact just 10 minutes I watched this scene. Thanks for posting this.

1:10 to 2:10--one of the most beautiful minutes of the series, maybe the top. I actually find it more romantic than the hand-holding scene, because they don't even have to touch, they just look at each other. But that's just my opinion.
But then Jordan comes, and it's mock-romantic. It's such a role reversal for Angela, too. Previously all she could focus on was Jordan, now it's Brian. And he's in so much pain. Beautiful. GREAT acting by everyone.

Angela fell in love with Jordan and the other way around but somehow they never really figured it out...it's sad 'cause I think that they truly loved each other. There is a moment where I like Jordon and its in the christmas episode. In the end of that episode he lights a candle for Rickie. I thought it was a beautiful moment for him and I gradually started liking Jordon more, Just not with Angela. I like the idea of Rayanne and brian always have and always will. Not permanently but in a relationship of some kind. I feel those two characters could learn so much from each other. Theres not enough space for me to explain why i love that idea so much.

I agree... I love the evolution of Angela and Jordan. He started as nothing more than a crush who "leans great" but became a better person with a truly strong connection to her. I really do think Jordan and Angela would've grown stronger together, but the ending hints that she gets with Brian. It's sad either way.

In the DVD commentary for the pilot episode, one of the producers mentions that Claire had a crush on Jared Leto when they were shooting. Of course, he doesn't know exactly what she was thinking, but the character Jordan IS very crushable. :)

Okay, I heard about My So Called Life when I was reading reviews about "Life As We Know It" and how people compared the two shows. I can't believe how it is so modern like. This was what.... aired in 1992 1993? They talk exactly the same and all. I mean, all you have to do is add in a cellphone and a computer and wallah! It's a show worthy of NBC's 2007 line-up. The best show ever. I have two weeks off work soon and I'm just going to stay at home and watch the whole thing on DVD from start to finish.
