Instead, many have become "The 13th Grade," where moderately more organized/sophisticated "gangs" belittle the student who actually CAN read, write, and spell. I'm not saying ALL HBCUs are bad, but if you are different--that is to say, you have different interests (like programming, physics, anime, science,atheism, agnosticism etc)-then you find yourself being "not liked".I really hate this conservative attitude in the black community; how anything different is hated and feared. One of my closest friends is emo and she's black, but people dont judge her at all. If anything the black community embraces difference, we dont hate it nor fear it. composure is not just a tone of voice. It's maintaining a positive attitude and choosing to be respectful and being a gentleman in every situation. I also transfered from an HBCU in small part due to teasing because I was smart. Turns out everyone gets teased and how you respond to it determines whether you get respect of not. Not saying it's right that's just how it is. You will probably be happier at your new school, but please try not to insult our people no the internet. It's not classy

@369DSGB Hm... I think it's important that you understand that race is just a color and racial slurs, despite their name, do not apply to race itself. Racial slurs should really be called cultural slurs because that is what they insult. If I insult black people by calling them 'pants sagging coons' then clearly I'm insulting the culture of people that sags their pants and act coonish. This does not apply to people of just the black race but to anyone who shares the black culture.
