I just got a special military version of this pistol and have yet to fire it. I've been hearing some folks talk about jamming with double stack 1911's, was just wondering if you've ever had any issues with that.
This gun, the very idea of a double stacked 1911 in .45, is my dream gun. Its a shame I live in the UK where gun rights literally dont exist. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any other double stacked 1911's chambered in .45, or other with a similar high capacity.
Additionally, I was wondering what the quality of Para Ordnance pistols are like compared to other companies manufacturing 1911's, does it rank up there as high end? How about value for money?
Agree, Not ay all good for carry, but extremely accurate. I carry it whenever i travel, and have put at least 500 rds. down range. The trigger does have a little slack. I may get it worked. Because its stainless it is ageless.
this gun solves the capacity problem of the 1911 but still no tactical rail... although i hear that para has put out a pxt tactical with a rail and high capacity (drools). glocks are excellent firearms, light, reliable, accurate, but i've never really been a fan im mor partial to Sigs myself
@ibanezkid07 We can't in Canada. There are a few lobbyist groups advocating it for people with special licences, but I doubt we'll see that passed in parliament anytime soon. - Thanks for the interest my friend.
@ibanezkid07 yes but no. Legal process is long and everyone without exception is prohibited from conceal carry. Of course if you are a lawyer or judge, carrying even a prohibited firearm for some reason happens although we aren't supposed to know. I expect some determined man will be threatened with death and issue a claim of right to the government after stonewalled: "You will provide me with a full time police officer for protection or I will construe this as permission to carry."
@kdevil5000 I think you could reasonably expect to hit a target up to 50 yards away, people that are well trained and experienced marksmen can hit targets @ 200 yards... I honestly don't have any idea of when a 45acp looses it's ability to be leathal.... I am reasonably confident I coudl kill someone @ 50 yards if I had to.
@boobear1964 From what I understand, the majority of gunfights take place somewhere within about 12 feet. I only say this because you mentioned lethality. And before the youtube commandos jump to tell me how wrong I am, keep in mind that I'm talking about the majority of gunfights, not all of them. Massad Ayoob wrote a great article about a 163 yard pistol shot in American Handgunner a few issues back. BTW do these come in commander models?
Very nice. I'm really starting to become a fan of paras and I think it will be the next gun I get. This is coming from a guy with a full size kimber cdp 2, so I have really high standards for 1911's
@mrpicky510 Kimber are great guns, I guess I was thinking about Para's large mag. capacity.... I love the 1911 platform, hard to believe it is going to be 100 years old next year! I honestly think the 1911 is the gun to which all other semi-autos are compared too.
My dad has a custom 1911 with the P14-45 bottom and a colt officer slide, either a series 70 or 80, fluted barrel, and double spring. I love it, Para makes great stuff, I can't wait to get one!
glock is a toyota corolla, cheap, reliable and takes you everywhere; para ordnance, even though not a merc, I would put it as a 5 series beemer or a VW CC... both do the same that the corolla, but with more style! my opinion....
@buckwheat40 You are a fucking idiot. Glocks are high quality but they are a dime a dozen and don't retain their value worth a shit, Your $550 glock is worth about $300 as soon as your fire it. There is nothing special about glocks period and to say anything to the contrary only proves my point. Eat a dick motherfucker.
@buckwheat40 To further my point Ruger makes high quality firearms also, but just like the glock they fail at retaining any value. This is only true of their semi-auto pistols, their revolvers and rifles retain most of their value. Don't open your dickwasher again fuck face or I will make you look twice as stupid, if that is possible considering how stupid you already look.
@buckwheat40 Would you kiss your mother with that mouth?! not mine....yours! potty mouth! your a bad man! awful man!!!!!! Jesus wouldnt say that either!

@Furicist Another double stack 1911 is made by the company STI, located in Texas. They make competition guns for the most part.

This gun is the best gun ever! You know why? Because it fixed the ONLY problem the original M1911 had: A low magazine capacity.

how is the recoil on this gun?
buckwheat40 1 year ago
@buckwheat40 not bad at all, my colt defender has a lot more precieved recoil. most 1911 have a nice smooth feel when you are shooting them.
