yes you get the same exp so i recommend metal armor to lower bonus.

yust wear armour like iron, the spell will fail. you get the same amount of exp and you can cast again more quickly ;)

you can also use air strike on magic training targets in lumbridge, won't give you hp exp!. you can also use curse there ;)
