You know what annoys me about this song... the Alto part compared to everything else... i play the alto part for this in my quartet and it is ridiculously easy compared to every other part.
One of our best sax quartets at Mansfield University will be performing this suite at the Navy Band Symposium in Washington DC this coming year. This quartet did a very fine job, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance =)
The middle section sounds great. I played this last year, and I absolutely loved it.... it seems as though you did too.
On a side note, I'm playing his Alto Saxophone Concerto next year with the Symphonic Winds at Houghton College. That too, is absolutely amazing. I also suggest to get a recording of his 8th Symphony ASAP. =D
The middle section is at the same tempo as the rest of the fast section. The bari player has downbeats on each bar and only moves during that time so it is not distracting. With the tempo, it was easier to follow but we didn't change any part of the music. Thank you for the kind comments.
wow, this is very well done, good job to everyone! one question though, did you decided to take the middle section in cut time as a group decision or were you advised to take it in cut time?
BRAVO! the bari runs are ridiculously clean! BRAVO BRAVO!

Wow guys, that's amazing. I like how clean your runs are. The intonation is great too. Sara, you have a great sound on the soprano.

@saxmanclay Symphony 8 is gorgeous. My Wind Ensemble recorded that for a Naxos CD last year. Great writing...

this is really cool.
maslanka has such an awesome
perception of the way music could be written. It's like nothing i've heard before.
And that is what i love about him most.
But this is very well played and enjoyable
and entertaning to hear.
