  • 120million lives were worth the price payed to keep the china intact. Were it not for Mao, the warlords would have returned and china would have suffered the same fate as yugoslavia or the ottoman empire, broken into hopelessly backwards bickering nations.

  • @AlternateArtisan It was 40 million and 1billion people = chinese population 1b divided by 40 milion = 1/25

  • @AlternateArtisan -- Do you really think Mao was the only person who could have led China to unity and progress (such as it was)? For instance, the founder of the CCP was not Mao. It was Chen Duxiu. Why could the same or better results not have been achieved under his leadership?

  • @adam13weishaupt thats hard to say really, no one can truely say that anything different would have worked for sure since the events around the PRC's creation were very much a gamble. I'm just happy I have one country and not 100 waring provinces.

  • @AlternateArtisan. I understand. So would many former citizens of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. By the same logic, we can be even happier when the whole world is a single country.

  • Only the cheap dump love Mao-- the most fucking garbage on earth.

  • love mao ,support mao!!!!

  • Chairman Mao, the greatest leader in the Asia, as for Formosa it is just a renegade bit of china. Funk hole for the landlords and lackeys watched over by a US that is slowly loosing it's influence in Asia as the force of the PLN extends it's influence beyond the third island chain. And the East (will be) Red! Red right up to the coast of California.

  • I'm a huge Obama supporter... but Obama aint even an ounce as good of a leader as Chairman Mao...

If it was not for Chairman Mao, China would still be a very very backwards place, and they never could have opened up to the west under Deng, without being exploited.

  • @seanisthelizardking How dare you even compare Barack Obama to Mao Tse-Tung, a man who cant even run the US, a hypocrite who denounced the Iraq war then sent more troops. Mao Tse-Tung a man who industrialized China, and brought it into the 20th century, through tough policies that may have hurt some but benefited many. Never Never compare an american president to Mao

  • 2:55 wow...

  • Wow. That's a prime example of a totalitarian communist cult of personality. His name was in practically every line of that hymn. Long live adulation.

  • viva el presidente MAO TSE TUNG

  • mao also had a loyalty dance - youtube "mao loyalty dance" and watch the first clip - so good :)

  • frightening

  • Beautiful, but so much...bs.

Just finished reading "Son of the Revolution." Opened my eyes about how misguided the CCP was with Mao at the helm.

  • Misguided being an understatement :)

Sometimes I find myself wondering why so many catchy songs are made in dictatorships, e.g. 1930´s Germany & USSR. Listening to this beautiful song and watching the beautiful coreography almost make me want to join the Chinese communist party =D ...I mean who remembers any catchy political music made in democracies?

  • @Paska10 Oh say can you see that star spangled banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

That's a pretty sweet line from a pretty sweet song imo.

I'm not even american and I think that's a sweet song.

  • @Paska10 every government carries out propaganda and brainwashes its people. The difference for the "democracies" is that they do it more subtlely than the communist countries. Just look at all the messages Americans are parroting with the War on Terror, etc.

  • @tritonraider yeah but the democracies are not doing a very good job. I never got very impressed with the Bush regime propaganda for the need and efficiency of so called war on terror...perhaps they should put some composers to work to get the message in the western public, "Chinese style" you know! =7

  • @Paska10 IDK... but most Americans are very supportive of their troops, and genuinely believe that they are fighting for their freedom, even when all they're doing is occupying another country. I'd say that's the success of western propaganda. Once again, it's the subtleties that appear to work much better than the blatant communist ones.

  • @tritonraider I realize you posted this 1 year ago, but your saying, "it's the subtleties that appear to work much better than the blatant communist ones" fills me with hope. So few people realize this in our country. If only more knew the extent to which most Americans are brainwashed then, perhaps, things would be different here. Ignorance is not bliss--ignorance is slavery.

  • China doesn't have to give up maoism all the way, they just have to alter parts of maoism,

  • your greedy capitalist pigs no different from us, the only difference is the lack of democracy

  • Comment removed

  • China is no longer Maoist anymore is a major part of the problem. The have simply turned into another greedy Capitalist nation unfortunately.

  • Major part of the problem??? If PRC remained Maoist it would be a poor, undeveloped country with decresing power. If PRC want to be a growing superpower, it must gave up the Maoism !! Like or not, this is the truth!

I think you are a western(or japanese or russian or indian) agent who doesn't want PRC an omnipotent superpower!!

  • Lol, actually I am an Anarcho-Communist who want no super powers. But as long as we deal with these super powers I would much rather have China change the balance of power a bit since the Chinese people in power would mean more people are taken care of financially(due to the fact they have the worlds most populous nation).

  • In the past, in the present, and in the future the stronger nations want to influence the world, like the stronger persons their social environment! This is a very natural behavior of the mankind.

  • Are you trying to pull out some "human nature " argument?

  • I don't want to pull out anything, i just don't understand why do you defend the maoism?

The fate of LIU SHAOQI and DENG XIAOPING (+ millions of innocent chinese) shows the brutal, cynical and harmful face of this ideology. The some results what PRC achieved ( e. g. hydrogen bomb, sattelite) were thanks to ZHOU ENLAI's common sense.

  • @Xtrail121

I doubt you really know what maoism is. Otherwise, you wouldn't write that PRC stopped to be maoist, or, let's say marxsist, since maoism is not some kind of a separate ideas and philosophy.

  • @timfidotru

But I'm sure you have the illusion you know what maoism is.

  • May I ask what do you consider being maoism?

  • @timfidotru

Maoism is the far eastern version of stalinism.

Main features: radical and brutal change of the society, killing or prisoned millions of innocent people. Economical deadend wich mean severe starvations. Both mean FEAR in the whole socety (also among communist).

Is it marxism or not? This is not a prior question, it's a machiavellist practice of power managment and covered itself with ideology.

  • Oddly enough, no one in China ever described "Mao Zedong ideas" to be somehow related to stalinism. They are considered being developed from marxism-leninism.

And, Chinese for some reason tend to awfully disagree with you for some reason.

You are saying that it is not philosophy, but why there were so many maoist students in european and japanese riots in sixties, why there are maoist parties in Europe now (and almost no stalinist), Why are there maoist rebels throughout Asia and in India and

  • Nepal? And why hasn't the Chinese government ever rejected his ideas?

I doubt that you have ever read Mao, and almost sure you watched a bunch of antimao propaganda programmes and might read few books like Mao-the unknown story.

  • @timfidotru

    4. In the 60's the maoist PRC (+Albania) sponsored these groups but there was no stalinist SU at that time.

    5. It's not necessery to reject the maoist ideology because of the roots and legitimation of CCP. It's enough to go as far as possible in practice. That's what CCP are doing since 1978.

  • @timfidotru

The Chinese government has rejected his ideas. The two biggest examples would be rejecting class-struggle between 1978-80, and rejecting the Party as leadership of the peasantry with the rise of technocrats after 1976 and the Three Represents in the 1990s. Moreover, they've abandoned world revolution and the notion of revolutionary will being able to overcome historic materialism (i.e. Mao's insistence in Great Leap policies of will being able to speed up socialist transformation).

  • @timfidotru

    You are WRONG!!

    1. Stalin and Mao were close ideological allies. ("Live for 10000 years the SU-PRC friendship!") The split between the two state become during Khruschev who gave up stalinism and that was hurt Mao!

    2. Fundamental paralels in methods, rethorics, and practice! Great Purge(SU)= Culture Rev.(PRC). Paralel fates:Tukhachevsky-Peng Dehuai, Buharin-Liu Shaoqi, Yezhov-Lin Biao.

    3. There ARE stalinist cells in Europe but fortunatly as marginals as the maoists.

  • Mao considered Stalin to be a great thinker who understood Marxism Leninism very well; he is considered to be very influential. You can find references to Stalin in his writings, including at least one place where he talks about Stalin's "genius." Mao said that Stalin was 70% good, and 30% bad, so Stalin gets a passing grade from Mao. "Stalinism" is mostly a term used by Trotskyists as a perjorative, however. Hardly anyone actually identifies as a "Stalinist."

  • 現在西方紅 (美國)

  • He never thought he was a god. He did many great things for the people of China.

  • Many great things???

15-20 million peolple died in hunger between 1959-1962. + Culture revolution. It was a big North Korea. Since 1978 (thanks to Deng XiaoPeng) become a rising superpower!!

  • China was still poor, they had many more people starving prior to that. Mao turned things around.

  • Taiwan was one of the poorest region in China before the mid 20-th century, so since then there was no starvation ( and MAO) at all.

  • Are you an idiot? Taiwan(or the Republic of China) is an island. Not even a part of mainland Asia and NEVER a part of the People's Republic of China. Learn some geography idiot.

  • More probabably you are an idiot asshole.Who said Taiwan is a part of mainland, but isn't it a chinese territory??? (please learn more geography, and history)

You are a tipical demagouge. If somebody is not on your opinion, you become pretty nervous, and the other is idiot.

  • They have their own governing structures retard, the Chinese government maintains some level of control, but it is not the same as a typical PRC territory.

  • You logically misunderstood something!

We speak about the past when there was no PRC control over Taiwan at all!! .There were (are) two China: ROC (not communist) there were no starvations, but political terrorr was. PRC (communist) there were severe starvations because of the irrational economic and political system (great leap forward 1958, cult. rev.1966-1973) I must repeat: Since 1978 (thanks for Deng Xiaoping and NOT for Mao) PRC become a growing superpower!!!

  • The cult. revolution would be more fatal and harmfull for PRC (sentenced the nuclear physicists, and missile researchers) if ZHOU ENLAI did not soften MAO's idiotism!!! Probably PRC had no hydrogen bomb at 1967, and had no satelitte at 1970.

  • Well, no wonder you don't understand what is maoism, since you make such statements. Taiwan was a part of Japan, and was considered by them as a core japanese (in other words, not colonial or occupied) territory, so it was an integrated part of far richer nation than China. Not to mention the Chang Kai Shek took all chinese gold reserve and funds and, well, anything he could take and of course, Taiwan was an unticommunist inflatable carrier, while China stood all alone and even isolated.

  • Despite all above, several regions of China surpassed Taiwan in development.

  • @timfidotru . 1.Please describe what are the main features of maoism?

    2. Which of these features are still determine PRC's internal politics?

  • @ Xtrail121

    1. Maoism is a philosophy, and not some kind of economic policy. It is not an independent school either, but implementation and development of marxism. It used some fresh approach comparing to other dogmatic marxists and developed some new theories and ideas. For example, Mao stated that no revolution could lead to any other type of society than the one that is determined by the industrial progress of a country. In chinese or soviet case it was capitalism.

  • He launched a cultural revolution since he proposed that a permanent revolution could lead to socialism directly, and that the people could establish direct democracy instead of a party bureaucracy. However it failed to do that.

    2. That it remains being their philpsophy and methodology. It determines the way they think & generate ideas, and the ideology of course, but that is secondary.

  • @ timfidotru, if you are chinese in race than you are a traitor. If you are japanese, than I swear in blood, before the day I die, china will unite and take revenge on Japan. Japan will no longer exist.

Call me a communist, a racisit, maoist whatever. I do not care.

  • @ nunvikingsofthesea

My nickname obviously determines my russian origin. I still have some connections with China.

It seems though you didn't understand what I was saying in my comment above. I told nothing about the future of Taiwan, just mentioned the historical fact of the island being a japanese territory and its administrative status to indicate its wealth comming out of it.

I advise you to reread my post and understand it better. It is rather prochinese, not anti-

  • Mao is the true hero of China. All ignorant western monkey men, shut up!

  • 操!太强大了!不过现在想想还不如回到毛主席时代呢,人人看病上学免费,贫富差距不存在,因为都很穷!怀念我们伟大的毛主席啊!

  • You compare Obama with Mao... tthat has to be an insaine compairasion.. one of the most insaine..

  • You are right.

    Obama is worse.

The American government tricked the whole world into believing he was the hero to save the day so everybody loves the states again after Bush fucked everything up. As if it wasn't planned to do it like this all along.

Mao just was openly evil and the people got along with it.

I prefer Mao over Obama, because you could have done something against him if you want, American "leaders" are the same hypocrits and liars but with a clean suits...

  • Yes because the Government is one big united mass with a single overmind dictating policy and direction... they're obviously ruled by a bipartisan shadow council ¬_¬

The Republicans wanted you to vote McCain, face it... You yanks have such a backward hostility towards Governments that you'll blame them for anything ¬_¬

  • Mao was a hero. He turned an impoverished starving China into a super power.

  • Yeah, Obama is more like Hitler.

  • @Eopyk Yeah, Mao was SO much better a leader then Obama!

  • you can't compare communist leader with president because communism and democracy is very different

This song is a well-composed song anyway

  • @25minutesTH -- The tune was from an old folk song. It was just set to new lyrics, which are hardly inspiring unless you worship Mao as a god.

  • @ Schwarznasen

Obama has been elected. Didn't you vote, too?

  • He can be turned out of office, you know, via impeachment or recall. It should happen as soon as possible, in my opinion.

  • So all those American citizens that have voted for Obama don't count for you?

You think, in the U.S. democracy should be abolished in order to keep people like Obama from being elected?

    Then say so openly.

  • Mousie Dung.

  • 气势轩昂!

  • thanks for your sharing. how nice of the song

  • I heard this film is required viewing for the Obama cabinet.

  • haha

    I heard that too

  • So is Triumph of the Will required viewing of the Bush cabinet?

  • Who gives a rat's ass about the Bush cabinet? They're GONE (just in case you haven't noticed). You must be a liberal...always trying to change the argument. Bush and his cronies are history. Deal with the new incompoetent in DC town.

  • I'm not the one trying to associate Chairman Mao with Obama. Or is that big W sign around your neck making you think unclearly?

  • I see. Now you are trying to associate me with the former president? Your unflagging liberalness is showing. Yours is the typical lib eral response to any unflattering observation made of your beloved messiah...change the argument. There is no point attempting to argue rationally, logically or cogently with you since you can't remain true to the core issues of the debate.

  • Nowhere did I mention anything about Obama. I certainly don't adore him, since he is a human being.

    Try again.

  • Perhaps you should return to the Altar to Obama you have in your bedroom, light a few candles, and bray to the enlightened one. You'll feel better, and stop polluting youtuibe with bullshit. In case you haven't noticed, W has been gone for a long time.

BO is at the helm. Let's see how well he steers the craft.

  • i rather be in a german like fascist society than a communist dictatoral chinese society where everyone is poor and miserable and life sucks.

atleast life was good from germans who were german and nothing else

but il take good old capitalist america above both!

  • Ah, another "Mussolini is a good guy because at least he made trains run on time" moran.

  • maybe you should read more than the first line of my post before you start ASSuming what I believe.

  • 哪里庖出来的幼稚园孩子?

  • Yeah citizens really had it worse under the DDR than Hitler... all that blasted socialised healthcare, free daycare, guaranteed housing and consumer products.... terrible.

  • Mao was a man, but he was a great man, a man of many triumphs and mistakes. But he indeed changed a nation, the kind of achievements he had (and his comrades in arms - some of whom he later did indeed suppress) are so grand, it's unimaginable. They were much more substantial than some imaginable fable God of the Bible; the old generation of comrades are really "Gods" among humans.

  • rofl apparently kim jong il is a diety like his father was

  • @ubcphysicsyangbo

I am half Chinese half Guiawlow, my father is portuguese and my mother is chinese, my chinese grandfather was a landlord, he was killed and his possessions, my mother was humiliated and paraded around the streets, she migrated to Macau has a illegal migrant, and worked her way to were she is today, in capitalist macau, what did the communist party achieve? rotting out Chinas intellectuals? killing millions of its own people, my grandfather included, for what?

  • @portugalreis because your granpa was a reactionary. he deserved it. for all we know, your grandpa might have committed some blood debts against the poor peasants in his village :P

  • @portugalreis In short, your grandpa deserved to die for being a landlord.... Actually dying that way would have been better than being starved to death as a peasant.

  • @portugalreis

    "for what?"

    - For Macau turn to part of continental PR China;)

  • @ubcphysicsyangbo So is the Great Leap and Culture Revolution he created. Absolute power makes a man very corrupted, so much more so on a great man; the addiction to power and worship makes a great man commit crimes 1000 times worse than corruption.
