You actually don't shake the phone to make it fart, just turn it over. When you flip the phone 180 degrees it will make the fart sound, so you don't have so much trouble getting it to work. The developer has mentioned adding belching sounds to this useful iPhone tool, which should help overcome your need for GPS, flash, and various chat programs.
