What kind of plastic is that, thats being used as spacers? and what are the measurments, ... 1.1/8ths inch? 1 inch? 7/8ths? i got similair speakers in a 07 WRX. where can i get that plastic?
@cepterone its called HDPE. (high density plastic extrusion). You buy it at Tap Plastics online or in person. There is no set size, you buy the thickeness you need for your project. I got a mix of 1", 3/4" and 1/2". This stuff is pretty expensive, probably $25+ for a 12" sheet of 1" HDPE. But its good stuff and you pay for the quality. No degrading from water, etc..
Thanx alot for these videos you posted, It's been alot of help thus far.
I would like you to help me further though, I would like to know what the standard sizes of the speakers are, front and rear respectively. so I can buy the right stuff from the start. And which size speakers did you fit into the front (with adapters) without having to alter the door panels? I have an 07 STI but I think the panels and speakers are the same.
Lot of more basic speakers can get by with a 3/4" spacer. Also, the 04-05 door panels have a lot more clearance than the 02-03's. If you have a 02-03 even with a 3/4" spacer, the speaker will probably smack the door panel.
i suppose ill figure it out, thanks for the info :)

So in the video, the one inch spacer worked for you? Was there room to put the door panel back on without cutting the factory speaker cover?
