@AfricanKillerBees By stringers, by actually having knowledge of rackets. Do a little research, you fucking idiot. You seem like one of these clowns who think players are using their paintjob, which is only the case 15% of the time.
i've seen many matches from him, he has no touch at the net, just try to hit the ball harder than the oponent and nowadays every player cant surpace him in speed
What the hell are you smoking? Chela is from Argentina is a typical competent clay courter and slow surface player who can do most things reasonably well. Despite not having the biggest strokes, he could outwit his opponents by keeping solid strokes in court for long periods of time without missing. Most players ARE limited in some way, just as Tim was at the back of the court. At times he'd have good ground strokes, particularly off the backhand but he was a net player.
@glutamin111 At the time Coria was being awesome (2003 - 2004), Coria wiped his ass out. Gaudio.... who's Gaudio??? Oh yes, the idiot that had a great backhand, now I remember that.
Coria wiped his own ass out in that final more then he will wipe anyone elses ever again. Sadly, about 99% of tennis fans will remember Coria as the guy who made the biggest choke in grand slam final history and therefore went downhill with his career.
The rest 1% which were his fans, will remember him as the clay court king of summer 2003.
But Gaudio has to be the worst player that has won a slam in the past decade at least, if not worst ever.
@glutamin111 I'm a fan of Coria but... Isadly have to agree with you :/ I'll try to keep the good memories in my head (killing drop shots, nice topspin drives, solid defensive backhands, unlimited staimna to run....) but it's to forget RG 04, Roma 05 and his double faults..... :/
I remember Coria had a nice chance to set himself up a first French Open final in 2003. How the fuck did he lose in straight sets to that fat douchebag Martin Verkerk i dont understand to this very day.
Maybe the incident with the ballboy played a big mental part in the match as Guillermo might have lost his focus. Maybe! But a certain thing is that Verkerk played way beyond his normal level in that tournament and against Guille he might just have had the best match of his life
@glutamin111 Yeah that's truth, but anyways he was then a rising star yet. What I CAN'T understand, bah I can... but I was so sad when he lost to Ginepri at US Open 2005, fifth set, tie break.. and a double.ft made him lose. That match Willy did like 25 DF's. That's really sad cause he always said taht in practices he puts every serve in but in matches he just can't... And he was stupid enough to say that he didnt believe in psycholog., when they could have helped him a lot.. (sorry my english)
@glutamin111 In terms of results, perhaps, but Gaudio was always highly thought of, before and after he won RG. He was arguably the 2nd or 3rd best claycourter in the world the rest of that year and all of 2005. He had psychological issues, like Coria, so it was not a huge surprise to see him disappear after 2006-2007. He was actually a pretty decent player and was a dangerous clay courter before winning at RG, but I agree to some extent, he was one of the 'worst.'
no doubt he was one of the best claycourters in 2004/05. But strictly claycourters. He was too limited for anything else.
Just consider this fact - in 1990s and 2000s we had precisely 31 different grand slam winners, of which 16 of them were "one-timers" (with only a single grand slam victory just like Gaudio). But Gaudio remains the only player among all of them, that has never played past the 3rd round of any other grand slam apart from the one that he has won of course.
@glutamin111 Gaudio is an extremely talented tennis player. He was one of the best clay courters in the world until Nadal stamped his authority. Gaudio was always known as a headcase though, which is why he didn't win more. I think it would have been a good match, but I don't think Henman would have 'nailed' Gaudio.
This year's RG showed that there are no typical clay court players anymore, like Costa, Kuerten, Muster and Corretja in the past. Nowadays players seem to be more allround.
Utter bollocks. He was intensely dedicated and tough throughout his career. He maximized his talent and kept improving and improving until he peaked at this tournament and the usa open the same year, reahcing the semis in both. So it was not only this tournament, you need to learn some facts. Also he reached 4 wimbledon finals, and the only reason he failed to win a grand slam was becasue he simply wasn't quite powerful enough or consistent enough.
Y r u guys slagging off henman on a henman fans channel go bitch about him somewhere else go on fuck off
