The C64 port of OP Wolf was one of the best on the 8-bit micro's of the time. If you want the best console version check out the port for the PC-Engine.
@OhFishyFish If I had the money to play this in the arcades all day along I would agree. Playing this with joystick wasn't such a bad experience back then when nobody had a mouse. Can you imagine some kids are still playing FPS games with a PS / XBOX controller.
this game was not meant to be released on home computer or consoles. This is a perfect example of an Arcade game which does not suit at home consoles. Although today with the Wii & PS3 it would suit better with lightgun ability. And FPS games are meant to be played on PC they don`t suit to Consoles but unfortunatly the companies are pushing more and more of these Games into the market. Anyways thx for the vid
@htdmc2010 I forgot to say this game would've worked with a Magnum Light Phaser (uses same port as neos mouse). My friend had one, but I never bought it, because this would've been the only game to use it with. Other c64 games with lightgun support were propably not worth playing.
Interesting to know that. The NES & SMS Versions had Lightgun support aswell but back then the Lightguns for Home usage weren`t the same as the Lightguns from he Arcades. Otherwise it would have been pretty awesome. Thx for the vids
@htdmc2010 Tell me about it, I had the chance to play Space Gun in the arcades. The gun recyl and pumping up grenades into the stomachs of aliens was an unreal experience. Also got to try the rotating cockpit of Afterburner. Really sad there aren't many places where you can play these games anymore :-(
It is really sad to what has happened to the Arcade Maschines. But with the New Consoles i can somehow understand why they can`t stand up against them. I just hope the New generation Consoles will go on further to bring the same feeling as the Arcades and they make good Progress i have to admit that. Yet i also feel sad that Arcades are a rare thing today.
@MorreskiBear I read something about this in the magazine Retro Gamer. They used a rather clever trick, the part of the screen where all the stats are displayed are not static but moves in the opposite direction of the scrolling. If the game scrolls to the right, then the objects on the stat screen moves to the left in the same speed as the game. Something like that...
I loved this when i was a little peep.Great gameplay, graphics and sound were not bad for the C64 and the icing on the cake was that brilliant loading tune.
Yes, you are correct. I wouldn't had gotten so many of those if I'd played without saves. The game is really frustrating in that sense, because sometimes one gets a lot of specials in a level and sometimes only few clips and grenades. It gets really annoying if one is doing well and then a bad luck screws up the attempt in later levels.
I'm pretty sure I played this to the last level on c64, but couldn't complete it because I always had to use the only credit earlier.

I always used to leave one guy alive at the end of the level and wait for supplies to stock up, before going to the next level

Side-scrolling with a vertical split on the C64? How?

A true C64 classic. Thanks for posting this! Though I must say I never saw so many SuperGuns when I played!
