Very pretty song though the words "curl me up inside let me hear you through the heat" don't make much sense. Nevertheless, I give the song a solid B.

A truly great song! Thank you for posting! Suzanne Vega is from a time back when you had to have talent in order to make it! Too bad now it is all about physical appearance.
I heard a different version of this song by someone named Kalin Sivov. I like his cover of it a bit more than the original, to be honest. But of course I wouldn't like the song at all if he didn't have great source material to work with.
Anyone doing that facebook 30day song challenge? Well i'm on day 05, a song that reminds you of someone. Picking this song because like many other people who have commented, i found this song thanks to the perks. My ex bought me a copy of the book (when we were still together) and i loved it, and the following christmas one of her presents was a cassette with all the songs from charlies tape for patrick. This was our song from then on.
I'm not sure what it is about the song that just calms me down. Im stressed out with work, and my head keeps stressing me more. I listen to this song and Im chilled. And Im alright again for a while.
Ohhhh, this song always takes me back to the late eighties, it's a very special song to me. I went to see Suzanne Vega live a year or so back and I was so stunned and touched when she played this I actually burst into tears in the concert. (What a wuss, heh!) A great talent for observation and turn-of-phrase.

@LyricWatch : You watch for the lyrics LyricWatch. The large characters... as a child your mummy noticed your fixation with words...there was the time you daubed your name in crayon on the kitchen wall. i'm sorry, but you're deluded. words don't mean shit. the whole language thing a biological fucking delusion which is hard-wired into our 'human' selves. furrO your writings are fascinating, they are deep and full of strange meaning. You are arranging disorder where people who are not privy to your kinds of experience are simply appreciating the beautiful song gypsy in their own way. They need some space to do that. Don't be hurt no-one here wants to hurt you.
You're the jester of this courtyard with a smile like a girl's
Distracted by the women
With the dimples and the curls
By the pretty and the mischievous
By the timid and the blessed
...they remind me of an old friend from university times, Besion..just like seeing him..that funny face like a jack in the box, the jester...such a happy frame of mind, I wonder what he's doing now, if he's still joyful..of course he's no longer the jester, we all grew old
Me lembra o Bension, the jester, "the jack in the box", amigo dos velhos tempos, just like seeing him, slender, joyful. Agora estamos todos velhos, gostaria de saber como ele é, como está hoje em dia...
