A lot of free time and a lot of money can make miracles. And maddening people. I don't see the genius in this delirium but its effects is surely original. Not a de vinci though.
@zobazoba69 you know nothing about it, obviously. it wasn't free time and money that drove her mad. it was fear. terror. the poor woman suffered a lot and on top of it was mislead to believe that the spirits will kill her.
if you fail to see the genius in this creation, all the beauty, practicality, innovation, imagination...and that it's a true work of art.then you should stick to those little insignificant things you can see and make no comments.
@xXturbo86Xx I'm sorry you can't take a different opinion and order me to shut up. I see you are yourself very closed to interpretation. And, please don't comment on spelling errors, everybody makes them, except your holy self i see....
Secondo: I feel that an artist is imaginative when he transcends common usage of things to use them otherwise crearively. To use a door for the support of a sculpture is witty and creative, using it for a house,: less...
The more I learn about Sarah Winchester, the more I begin to wonder if this poor woman ever stopped and allowed herself to be amazed by the beauty and awkwardness she was creating!
@gyqz the loss of her husband and child had an impact on her sanity. then she visited a mad medium who told her that the spirits of those killed by her husbands rifles are responsible for her loses and that she should keep building to apease them. bottomline is that the poor woman was suffering allready and that stupid medium pushed her to complete insanity by making her afraid of the spirits.
what a shame. that building shows how smart, imaginative and practical she was. a great woman.
@xXturbo86Xx I couldn't agree with you more! Although you have to bear in mind, that in that time mediums had a certain level of respect and they themselves thought that they truly were the guides between men and spirits...nevertheless is it a real shame! This woman was creative beyond bounds and maybe (just maybe) I'll be going over in April next year to see this wonderful building for myself. Cheers!!
nice to see she respected the first nations that were slaughtered in the genocide of the old west
although the rich old bag could have just helped the first nations back then with her millions. probably would have made her happy too instead of being a scared of shadows obsessive freak.
Such a beautiful house, too bad it came from such a terrible story.
