I have the liquid metal 4 and my string (main) just poped. Can you tell me what its power and control level was (like on the ones by Dunlup they have that little chart. I can hit hard with it and generate topspin but i want one thats a little more topspin friendly . What do you think of Dulups Hexy fiber, Black Widow explosive polyester, Juice and HEADs IntelliTour.
@uwiththehair i don't know the dunlops, I know the wilsons. I would suggest to you that you try the various one--BUT ask the stringer--is it a stiff string or a soft string--the softer the string--hollow core etc, it will give you more spin. a stiff string will give you more power. polys are generally stiff
@12396Danny there's two prince synthetics--the old one classic and the new one with duraflex. the old one was what i call a solid core string--it's solid but it snaps, some strings fray out--those are SOFT. the old one was perfect, it would play well and SNAP when it died. when they put the duraflex. it made it more durable but it lasted past it's play time. for spin, the stiff strings are bad. try poly for power, but for spin, a nice soft string like wilson nxt or technifiber
@12396Danny if you're string bed has big holes--string bed of 16x18, and you hit mad topspin, you'll break it really fast-- i can break prince synthetic in 10 hours of hitting. if your racquet is a classic head type--18x20 or something like that, the string will last longer--try prince let er rip--it's a poly/syn blend that plays well...and if you like the stiffness--go full poly luxilon (freaky awesome power)
@hi10spro Well, if they break really quick then I'll probably stay away from them, I'm not going back to Luxilon - It gives me arm problems after a while, good string though. Thanks again.
@12396Danny OHHH then you need to avoid the polys, too stiff for your frame and your arm. you should go to a hollow core string--think tubes--no centers or SOFT strings that fray--technifibre, wilson nxt. those strings will grab more but you get a different feel and won't hurt your arm
when you are talking tensions shouldn't you mention that within the first 2 weeks strings can lose as much as 10% of their tension. atleast that is what my coach always tells me to consider when he is asking me what tension i want my racquet at
@menace1011 I think the more accurate assessment is to say that based on playing time, you're going to lose tension, but it's not significant to me, BUT it's probably about a lb per every 5-10 hours...or so. BUT are you going to have multiple racquets strung at certain tensions or are you going to play with it until it breaks... most people will play with it until it breaks. my strings are usually dead after 15 hours so I'll make that a practice frame, not a match frame
do you think that 2 different types of co-poly's as crosses and mains would work? or do you want to have two different "types" of strings(ex:co-polys mains, and synthetics-crosses)?
@shotyboy i'm starting to think, play all poly. my friend says all poly give more POP to the ball and spin. I'm going to try it out. just got the strings on my frame
@hi10spro no hehe, sorry i didnt mean it to be harsh, i just thought it was :) and what a bunch of idiots, how can their grandmas play with it if you have it ;) ahah
@1337SFpro 6 months is too long. what brand is pro hurricane? what frame are you using? what's the string bed pattern--crosses and mains, do you have big holes on the string pattern or small holes. wide body, stiff or flex frame
@1337SFpro babolat strings are usually solid, the aero--is that the nadal one. string it a bit tighter than the middle of the recommended range--maybe two lbs. you can feel two lbs, one lb differences are nominal. hard to tell.
aren't you breaking those strings really quickly. I break that in 10 hours of play, but if you use that on a cross, and get a poly main, that string set will be great
i cant find a string that suits me.i am a 4.5 player i am a baseliner with moderate spin moderate serve. i currently trying all kinds of strings. pro hurricane lasts me 5 weeks.. i started looking for another string because i didnt like the feel with the string. I am looking for a string that would last me about 3 weeks. Preferably a string that frays so i can tell when they will brake. any ides ( preferably babolat string but if you cant think of a babolat any brand will do..)
babolat vs magic? the gut is overrated and expensive, frays is a tough one. how long are we talking here. you play like 3 times a week? like 10 hours a week or more? becausae 5 weeks is AWESOME, that's 50 hours. technifiber is soft and responsive. the fraying strings are soft so you might want to just go poly mains and prince syn crosses :D like me, but it's SUPER stiff so not too much spin.
thanks for your help il try it out im also going to try a full set of addiction and a poly with addiction too. i play 10 hours of hiting and bout 3 hours physical training
I also use poly on main and synthetic on cross. My cross always breaks after about 10 hours. I have been replacing the entire string bed, but Is it OK to just restring the cross?
nope...you got to restring the whole thing...some of my friends would do that keep the mains, but come on... dude...you're breaking the cross...play full poly and see
I use Dunlop Syn Gut 16. Great string but breaks easily. But at 190 Baht ..no big deal. Please advise why you have different strings for the crosses and mains. Do the strings play better this way? And lastly, what do you think of the K Factor K5 racquet ?? Looks like a step-up from the ncode n3
define easily. i break prince synthetic after 10 hours of playing time...that's really, really annoying. it's a hybrid--the poly is hell on your racquet and arm--you can't play with just poly strings... the prince synthetic plays well but breaks really quickly. so mix them, but the poly blend--i tend to break frames now. 190 baht though hmmm... but everytime you restring your frame dies a bit. i tried the k5..not enough pop on my volley--not bad on the groundies though. i like the n2?
I tend to break strings frequently. Depending on the string 3 ~ 12 hours of court time. Hybrid seems to give me the power and spin. I string at 66 so control isn't an issue.
You can buy your own REELS like Gosen micro 17 synthetic for 29.99 and Gosen polylon SP for 49.99 thats about 80 bux and it'll get you about 33 rackets strung. All you gota pay for is labor or if you have your own stringer then its pretty much $2.50 per set. Hope this helps.
Hi I happened to see your guide on strings. It was helpful. Can you help me identify what kind of string i should get for my Prince CTS Approach 110? It's a really old racket so i need to change the strings.
I played with the old Lightning--it was a soft string--meaning the ball felt like it went into the string bed. If you're a baseliner, you might like this. I didn't. I like my strings more lively like Prince Synthetic. BUT with that in mind, if the strings are soft, you should get more control.
n codes break really easily.... and i mean all of ncodes lol it didn't last me 5 monthes and that was my first 5month playing tennis also i recommend using syn gut when ur beginner and develop correct techniques and change the string... like poly gives u lil bit more spin but plenty of pros use syn gut and they have massive spin.... so don't worry about string get syn gut when ur beginner
gut hybrids? REALLY... now that is something new. You mean gut and poly put together, or you mean a new syn that plays like gut... not too many strings actually play like real GUT... have you ever tried it. it's kind of awesome BUT if it gets wet, it snaps... and it can snap in your bag...
I use pro hurricane/xcel at 60lbs on a roddick gt+. I had arm problems. I'll try lowering the tension.
I also have a aeroprodrive cortex+ with a TNT2 at 58. I hate it too bouncy but the feel is good. Maybe I'll tighten it up tension next time.
