Shale is not on the list of options when you're choosing who is attempting the breakout.

Incidentally, she also can't come along for the part that gets the Warden captured in the first place, since she can't wear a disguise like everyone else.

lol, i didnt realize this was possible, i figured the "Wait for help" option, was just a joke to give alistair some ammo for commedy when you break out later so i always just seduced and killed the guard on my own then dressed up as a soldier and walked out

That's right, you have to pick the option "wait for help." Then, you and Alistair will muse about the likelihood of who might come to save you.

You'll get to say, as a joke and I'm paraphrasing, "insert companion here will come for us," and then "insert another companion here will come for us."

Except your joke will turn out to be real and the companions you think of will be the ones mounting the rescue effort.

Not EVERY guard. The Dog can't bluff past the last checkpoint, Guard Tanna, for her you have to have a different companion do the talking.

You need to get his approval rating quite high before you reach that scene. Give him lots of gifts (leather and precious metals), and be nice and respectful to him when you talk to him.

i defeated ser cauthrien this way: i had me (tank), sten (damage dealer), morrigan, leliana. Run into Anora room, only cauthrien follows, let the tank taunt her so that she focuses on him. Then cast force field on him, when that runs out cast misdirection hex on cauthrien, then force field again etc.

Ever had the dog try to bluff? Oghren was also with him and he didn't peep a word the entire time. Until we got to the sargeant.... the dog must've been shy, and oghren just fails with his "charms". lol

Pardon me for trying to say this without spoilers. Near the end of the game, you're rescuing somebody important. A very tough warrior will attack you. Either surrender or die. If you beat the tough warrior, you won't see anything that happens in this video.

After you rescue the Queen from captivity (main plotline), you are confronted by Loghain's lieutenant, Cauthrien.

She's the toughest fight in the game. If you lose or surrender to her, you're imprisoned. If you beat her, you don't get this part.

Actually, Shale is blocked from the entire Rescue the Queen quest chain.

If you try to bring her along, the servant says Shale can't wear a guard uniform and would give your disguise away. You're forced to pick another party member.

That also means that Shale would be an even worse bluffer than Sten. She's not even an option.

Yes, you can. Mainly, you need to retreat quickly and then pull her into a side room alone. Then just keep wailing on her while staying healed.

I was disappointed that nobody really comments on it. Just Anora saying something like, "Since you killed Cauthrien, Loghain will really hate you now," or something like that.

yes what this guy said. i just broke the battle down spell by spell and it was really quite trivial. i was a rogue though so i could ginsu my way through every opponent but still.

I found it quite easy..

I used force field on Cauthrien to keep her out of the fight as long as possible, killed the mage first (using the prison spell, can't think of the name atm), then just mowed down all the archers quickly.. by the time everyone was dead, Cauthrien was all that was left and alone she's pretty wimpy. :)
