RECORDING: I think sound is too good for a camera phone... Anyway, thanks!
MUSIC: I do believe she's Garanca, this sound light but rich is hers. Wonderful. Kasarova sang it in Barcelona and it was too wild and pressed, no Mozart there.
kasarova is one of the most incredibly overrated singers of all time. her diction has slowly become one of the worst i've ever heard. graham is a soprano. garanca is as close to perfection as a mezzo can get.
I used to appreciate Kasarova's unique qualities, but now I find her just too eccentric. Her mannerisms are getting really out of control according to the recent footages I see on YouTube. If Graham's a soprano, so are Didonato, Bartoli, Troyanos, Kozena, and Ludwig and any other mezzos who sing Elvira and Cleopatra. I don't quite understand it myself why these ladies are considered mezzos, but then they don't seem to mind the label.
I just discovered her, but I'm already a big fan!
This year at christmas (on the 25th), she will be performing with the no.1 orchestra in the world, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (chief conductor is Mariss Jansons). Monteverdi will do a live internet broadcast of it, audio and video.
Really? Who's better, live, and on a camera phone for God's sake? She sounds amazing. It's too bad we can't see her. You are either old singer biased or just plain ignorant.
Despite the limited recording quality, I enjoyed it very much! Since it's taken from a live recording, we have a real idea of the ample and full sound of Garanca's voice. Fortunately it has a real mezzo sound, very warm and resounding throughout all the vocal range, from top to bottom. ;-)
It's definitely her--I was at that performance. And the next one. And the next one. It was a lazy production, I thought, in terms of staging, but Garanca was EXTRAORDINARY--her acting and especially her sublime singing. This recording does not do it justice, though it does bring back good memories...
diffuser un enregistrement sonore aussi "pourri" ne peut en rien servir une artiste aussi merveilleuse!!!

Wow, yet another great Sesto! I prefer her rendition (of this aria alone) even to those of Graham and Kasarova.

I was there on June. 13 and 23. I really hate that production, but the singing was amazing! I totally fell in love with her Sesto.
By the way, how did you manage to record it? Wow.
