1953 my brother put a 78rpm on the gramophone or turntabel and out came Surf Ride Popo Over the rainbow etc and i was hooked ever sice at that time I was 12 years old.
Saw Art Pepper live with Tommy Flannagan, Leroy Vinnegar at a place in Hollywood in the mid '60's called Bonesville. After hours place. No cover charge, $1 for a coke. Listen all through the wee hours. Ahhh....man those were some great sets!
Superbly cool and typical of West Coast Like Shorty Rogers. Pepper and that genre ? An Era of magic music. Hey Freeman girl agree with you RF was ace. Tell you who else I really like as well Bill Evans. So cheers.
60otaku3: You've got superb taste. Art Pepper's birthday is tomorrow. My uncle and jazz educator Dr. Herb Wong visited Art in San Quentin during one of his prison stints in the 1960s. They dropped off a clarinet.
Hi, Paula! I'm a young altoplayer who has 50 LPs, at least with your father, Art, Richie and a lot of players. The sound of this session is so good. Yeah!
Hello to you, Altoman! That is so completely cool to hear about your Russ/Art vinyl collection. Please let me know if your collection has any gaps that need filling...perhaps I can help!

I feel your pain, Mr. Pepper.
It's so bad we treated drug addicts as criminals.
I'm glad his talent earned him cred in San Q.
What a waste.
