Wow, I was in South Africa at the time but still remember dancing to this stuff at hight school gymnasiums. Never knew this was going down in TX of all places! God, bring back the 80s !! Any idea where I can download these mixes??
i still have my tshirt from the last/closing party with Grace. Its pretty beaten up but i will NEVER get rid of it. (Gogo) Mike Dupriest was my DJ mentor and used to give me copies of records he had doubles of. R.I.P. Rick, Mike, Vaal. The best club ever in Dallas...nothing besides Club One ever came near to touching it!!!!
Hanging on to the cage or rail while dancing, coed bathrooms, the cold room, vip tables, curtains, dancing by yourself, what great times...Scooby Snacks
takes me way back... i worked the door w rodrick 84-drugbust 86 dale took my place....miss sita ...miss crazy craig ...vaal -rip girl! miss u big time! xoxo ur favorite and mine....teddy
@PH1069 I went to the Starck all the time -- my pals worked there. So glad to see this thread! Can someone tell me what happened to Vaal? I tried to reconnect with her in NYC in the early 90s, but we lost each other. I see RIP posted to her and am dreading the news that she is gone. Can anybody tell me? You can email me privately if you'd like. Cheers to the pleasures that we had and endless nights of dance. xoxo to all,
i remember walking into starck club for the first time in 1986 and thinking it was the coooolest place i'd ever seen - i still think that - the curtains, the couches, the bathrooms, the bars, the dance floors, all incredibly awesome!!! this mix takes me right back to that night! thanks!
Nice to know there are real Starck Club afficianatos! I was a regular in 1986 and on. I danced there, for the first time in my life...to Sparks, "Music That You Can Dance To"...with a lovely young woman whose name I never knew!
I remember, she was exceptionally pretty and short, though!
underage and on the guest list.. my fantastic bartender craig du bois .. and never forget VAL selling cigarettes .. it was the best time of my life and never to be forgotten.. i grew up there..
Hadn't lstened through No Promises since Rick dragged the needle across it, held it over his head, and broke it (one of those painful ex-GF moments - Rick was fantastic in so many ways). He never played it again if I was there. I miss him.
@willrace OMG. Rick Squillante THE BEST D J EVER !!!! AND stole my heart and feet away in San Antonio -this was at a club b4 The Starck Club. My feet followed him to Dallas. Me and my entourage made it right in. Rick would say "open your mouth" - and wah lah!!! - Reserved in the sectional couch area next to him - danced above everyone all night long. i would go 5 days a week. i still have the t-shirt "no dancing"
Abosultely, With Dale and Rodrick at the door watching over who they would let in to play with Us and Ceta Lemure watching all of us dance from her little private balcony
Ahhhhh. :-) That is a nice glimpse indeed, into the Starck-dust coated memories. I can almost smell the cloves. What a splendid time that was. Where is my drink with the napkin wrapped around it? Thank you for putting this together and I hope you are inspired to do more. :-) :-) :-)
great memories.......

Never went to Starck or even knew about it until recently. Must have been an experience. Maybe it can be revived in some form.
