What McCain doesn't understand is that the group calling itself "Al Qaeda In Iraq" (AQI) is "Al Qaeda" IN NAME ONLY. They had no support from Osama Bin Laden whatsoever. Al Qaeda is and always has been in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

It's pretty absurd how his first reaction to any question about his weaknesses or mistakes is: "well i was right about the Surge!"

and he continuously lies about how he totally admitted economics isn't one of his strong points.

when faced with a specific question about something he previously said that was stupid or false, all he can say is that "obama isn't going to give us victory in iraq"

Ouch. He just won't shutup about the Surge. In fact, there is no clear evidence that the surge is the reason for the reduction in violence, the surge did not improve political processes in Iraq, and the surge did not resolve any of the dormant civil conflicts. He even speculates on what would have happened had the surge not taken place, yep only speculation. Sounds similar to problems he claims can be resolved by drilling off-shore.
