The flaw with Wegener's theory was that it lacked a plausible mechanism (understandable for 1912). Carey's expansion tectonics has never been observed to occur, and Paul Dirac was merely thinking out loud when he half-heartedly suggested that an expanding earth could be a consequence of an expanding universe. Plate tectonics explains all the observed phenomena (seafloor spreading, subduction, continental collision, etc.). Throw in mantle plume tectonics and you've a complete explanation.
@lahoucine66 To a non-scientist perhaps. Plate and mantle plume tectonics explain all observed phenomena and are testable with independently verifiable results.
@TheSnowballEarth plate tectonics doesn't explain ALL . because modern science is still young . it seems that nothing is sure . type this in google & read about problems with plate tectonics : bill mundy expanding earth
@lahoucine66 Plate tectonics & plume tectonics are a complementary framework that best explains the various geophysical phenomena that are observed on Earth. Earth expansion theory fails because it lacks a plausible mechanism. I suggest that you read a few papers available on the web by Don L. Anderson and Carlo Doglioni. You should also read a few by James Lovelock on Geophysiology. You'll get the "big picture" that way, and see how the biosphere interacts with the lithosphere.

"If we are to believe in Wegener's hypothesis we must forget everything which has been learned in the past 70 years and start all over again."

Kids ,please look elsewhere for your scientific knowledge. It clearly isn't here.
