  • I'm just curious, because I know nothing about motion control.....when using these on a quiet set, how do you not pick up the noise of the motors running? It's obviously loud, but when you watch a movie where these are used you can't hear it.

  • A lot of dialogue and sound is added in post production or re-recorded later. Very rarely is actual sound recorded on set is actually used in the final production. Often there's just too much ambient noise from equipment, environment etc or sometimes the actors voices may not have come accross strongly enough. Far better to add sound effects and actors dialogue afterwards than record it live. Having said that, I believe the movie 'Stardust' used special on set dialogue recording techniques.
