God that looks so tight-do all the work myself on my 1997 saab 900 and now I am going to try to change the ignition switch.., Been down The alternator ,starter, a couple clutch cables and a few serpentine belts. Now i have a SRS warning light on that drains the battery and a has initiated fault code. This began when ignition switch started failing. intermittently dying after start. If any of you SAABFANS ..catch this I could use some advice as the car is a joy to drive -900S 2.3 manual 1997
wonder why always americans brakes with the fog lights on european cars. im swedish and the 900 is pretty much the only saab i like after 96 2-stroke and v4.
Wow. Sweet exhaust note. How is the dual exhaust done. Did you split the header or tap into the single pipe from the manifold? It has that small block flowmaster muffler bark. Nice ride!
I agree, please give us more info. On the topic of drive train mods, I was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to make a 9000 All-wheel drive. The 164 (which shared the same chassis as 9000) was available in this format so there must be room for everything down there.
Of course you can mod them I am talking about a stock 5spd box which is what this guy was talking about.
I dont think there are all that many 750,000km c900s kicking around, rust, headgaskets and gearboxes seem to be making them drop like flies where I am.
First of all jimmbronson, whoever the fuck you are, You are a liar. You DID NOT BUILD that car, Boe did. Your a loser, go steal someone elses hard work. A hole!!

These gearboxes are made of glass, they will break apart if you boost hard in 1st and 2nd, hard launches will completely destroy them.
They weren't designed for 20w50, its 10w-30, even the bentley manual says so, for the record most people put honda MTF in.
They will do 500K if you baby them like crazy, most they will do before you have a really nasty notchy super worn synchro change is ~300K
Compare it to any Nissan, BMW or honda gearbox of the era and cry.

i work at a saab repair shop, and i constantly see c900's with over 750'000 km on them (600'000 miles ish)
theyre not glass
you just have to treat them right
and use a chillcast case, with a 91-93 pinion, a type 8 primary, and redline MTL
then they can hold up to 400 HP
the Morgstrana (i spelled it wrong) was the saab rally box, its been known to hold well over 600 hp
in sweedish morgstrana (however u spell it) means "the big box"

Which is a shame because I love them.

well, i do have the advantage of working on them, so i tend to see a hell of a lot of c900's
theyre out there, not all of em are pretty
but they all still work, and drive.
