  • Good morn`n AMERICA How are Ya???

  • My favorite Willie Song. Performed perfectly by the Greatest Country Artists of all time! God Bless them one and all!

  • We cannot forget that for the success of that show, two geniuses (one of the guitar another of the harps) that are in the "back-office" of legend's Country Music and they support practically all of the music. I refer REGGIE YOUNG and MICKEY RAPHAEL. Observe their performances.

  • G'morning AUSTRALIA how r ya! G'morning AMERICAN brothers an sisters how ya doin'. xoxoxox

  • Man this was one show I regret that I missed but at least I can still see and hear it on Video Legends in their own time The Highwaymen GOD BLESS them all. Country at its very best.

  • Great tune .....makes my feel like i'm riding that train

  • Amazing! Love it !

  • as an englishman i cant comment on what country means or how it feels to hear this music and love america even more etc.

but i can say that this music and this song awakens something in me, a song that makes me happy, and not due to the words (although i love them) but the guys on stage 4 of my fav artistis. i love the fact that they dont dress to impress or worry about "standing or acting the right way on stage" (like moden proformers do) all they care about is the music and each other.

  • This , is not a song about , just geographics , it is a song about Freedom !!!

  • ich muss wieder mal was dazu schreiben... immer noch voll der hammer... einer der besten songs i´ve ever heard

    gruss

    sacki

    stefan suckfüll

  • I suppose when there are over 1.7 million veiws you will get 40 or so that will make a mistake and press the dislike button due to eyesight or unsteady hand problems

Does Country music ever get better than this!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Spinifexman nope not any better...but jonny denver is a very close second

  • these guys are what country is all about

  • @stacynbonnie agreed but this is not country music.

  • This IS America. The song, the spirit, the voice, the man. It could be the National Anthem. Happy Fourth !

  • What a beauiful voice...song..4 some Long Live the Highwaymen!

  • Well said miralgo, pass the paper bag that holds the bottle!

Believe it or not, we have trains in New Zealand and I have experienced the rumbling beneath the floor while pondering why one would suffer the indignity of riding such an outmoded means of transportation, until, I heard this song and changed my attitude. I am now looking forward to my next trip on the railway line when I will be humming this refrain to myself whilst passing around the paper bag that holds the bottle.

  • So many have covered this song and nobody sings it like Willie Nelson - all the others sing it too damn slow - it should rock along like this

  • man oh man the memories these songs bring back...country music's one and only outlaws...willie, waylon, johnny and kris!!!!!!!!!!! yeeeeeeeeehaaaawwwwwwwww!!

  • kim suojanen

  • at last the hiway men are no more god loves to listen to them too

  • God, give us back The Highwaymen

    We give you Justin Bieber

  • @freddyoks hahahahahaha! Right on, right on! "Behold.... Justin! Salvation is near"

  • @freddyoks yeah that would be trade of the year hahah

  • @freddyoks Trust me, he's going to see that's a shitty trade.

  • @freddyoks that makes zero sense, but the highwaymen rule in that you are correct

  • @freddyoks God wont take that deal! Would you if you had Waylon and Johnny?.....I wouldn't!

  • @freddyoks I couldnt agree more ;)

  • I allways wiwh to be an USA son, and sometimes, when I get some blues, I use to listen to some kind of musics, which one is often this one and "dont think twice" . . .

But still aworried "non native son" of America

    And I' first, a Zappa fan !

MG, from France, and long time travelling 'round the world . . .

  • You willl never hear it like this again!

  • Nós brasileiros amamos sua musica e sua personalidade parabéns.... fico ouvindo suas musicas me trazem uma paz. muito boa ..

  • To 50sMusicMan : I agree with every word you said. I just wish they were still together, but like you said Waylon and John are gone now. Nobody like them, though.

  • Great song, great singers, thanks. Incidentally, Willie Nelson and Ringo once released a track..."Write one for me". Willie also released his own version of "yesterday". All good music, different styles and rythms for different times.

  • Para ti Mami :)

  • like

  • LOVE YOU WILLIE

  • Man, go to hell with The Beatles! This is real music. This is pure poetry...

  • @jgrlmustafa I like both Highwaymen and Beatles. Why does liking one have to exclude the other. Still, this song comes form the heart, you can hear it in their voices.

  • ever heard the Randy Scruggs and John Prine version???????????????

  • So 41 Youtubers dont know what real music is,i feel sorry for you.

    Take it away Willie,yeeehaaaa!

  • i agree....dam i miss the greats like this

  • This is just awesome

  • Those four I can believe road the rails, singing from experience.

  • this is good :)

  • willie nelson is just ATTITUDE ON LEGS.

  • if it was spinach i'd be dead by know

  • like george jones said: whos gonna fill their shoes

  • Fico bravo/triste, em pensar que nunca poderei ver um show do Johnny Cash! :/

  • Willie is wonderful.

  • Looooove this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great harp blower! dupree

  • Well I say we all get older and the great music stars we have had a great chance to live with are also. The good part is that the music lives on so if we teach our kids about these great stars the music lives on on with us and our kids and in our spirits and that is waht makes the great musicians immortal

  • het is weer voorbij die mooie zomer, die zomer die zowat begon in mei, thats a dutch song on this tune, i thought i knew music but never heared this song im stunned....

  • Man-----that is a ton of musical history on stage

  • this makes me hate the fact that i'm only 19 and never had the chance to go to a concert with them

  • @therealeasterfield i ve got the same problem and as willie nelson performt in my home town this year i didn't know who he is but now I really enjoy his music. FUCK!!!

  • @therealeasterfield Yep. I'm forty and I understand. I saw them. Thank God, I saw them, here in Sydney, in my twenties. First, Cash and Kristofferson came out here, and it was a good show, but Johnny had a throat infection, and that was evident. When the four came a year or two later, I thought it a bit extravagant to buy yet more tickets, but I did - and I'm so glad. The lads put on a killer show. I'll never forget it.

  • @therealeasterfield Me too. At least I have gone to Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and next month to Bob Seger concert.

  • @therealeasterfield ~~ You get it. That's what really matters.

  • @therealeasterfield

    Me too :(

  • @therealeasterfield THIS (except I'm 25)

  • just pure nectar xxx way to go guys ---just canny beat this song :D

  • Enjoy this, you will never experience it again.

  • I ain't a Country Fan,but if any Song can turn me,its this un.

  • trains and brown bags need not be forgotten, for kb, history is never far with music that puts you there.. too late

  • trains aand brown bags need not be forgotten for kb history is never far with music that puts you there.. too late

  • i used to listen to this song while i was driving very boring (interstates non-stop , va ., back to n.y.,etc )between highway s. i love it

  • arlo guthrie rules

  • Mr. Mac Wiseman did a great job also!!!!!

  • i betchya willies smokin a blunt right now haha:P

  • up ireland.

  • yeah I am aware that it aint a cash penned song. But cash did a brilliant version of it an made it his own ... Willie just sang way too much in the highway men ...He loved the sound of his own voice .. just a shame i dont lol

  • Immortals!

  • the johnny cash solo version of this song from 1974 is way better... Willie aint got the voice to be singing cash songs or songs cash has sang ...

  • This is not a Cash Song. Written by Goodman.

  • Not a Cash song, a Goodman song.

  • @krikortersak sang by who ????????????

  • @beestonpoet

Loved Johhnys' music but I gotta disagree with you on this one. I've heard this song by several artists and Willie smokes everybody that has ever sang it. He's on stage with some of the greatest talent ever and they leave the song to him, even they know it's Willies' song.

  • @achlop1 I agree this is best version, love how he says "Illinois Central" at the start. But it also owes a lot to the Harmonica. Then every other highwayman, and the railways, and everything that influences everything else. Also, Regards, Kevin

  • This is a fantastic song. Absolutely amazing.

    Greets from Norway!

  • this is absolutely as good as it can be in this life... A little Jack Daniels and 2or 3 hrs to just sit back and listen to the real Country and Western. ARTISTS....thanks

  • Anyone know which DVD this is on?

  • @exexwhy Its called Highwaymen Live - & it was filmed in March 1990 at Long Islands Nassau Colliseum. Fantastic DVD watched it more times than i can remember :)

  • good morin america how ya

  • Waylon and Johnny are now gone, Kris is off doing his own thing, and Willie still performs (although not like he used to)...I know that change is inevitable, but thinking of those times past when the Highwaymen "hung the moon"--well, it just makes me so sad. The new talent isn't up to the levels established by these country greats. Call me old, but DAMN, I miss these four performing together!!

  • @50sMusicMan amen brother im only 20 but i listen to old country way more then this so called new country they need all electric crap and so on just to make them sound way better then they probly are so i guess u can call me old fashon

  • @50sMusicMan I hear ya .

  • @50sMusicMan You from Dallas? You are quite likely to catch him several times during the summer down at Carl's Corner truck stop south of DFW.

  • @50sMusicMan , you bet

  • @50sMusicMan im f"@cking sorry?????????????? er are you saying " DEAD" "DEAD" " CARNT BE ARSED to SING WHEN KRIS TOURS EVERY YEAR! AND WILLIE (not like he used to!!!!!) id like to meet you music man! two heros arer gone after giving 100% kris is still touring along with willie. gggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • @50sMusicMan well said man Im Sad too saw these ole boys together.....Was in my best days Cheers to you and Me

  • @50sMusicMan I agree. Nothing like these 4 greats performing together. Their album Highwaymen is one of my favorites. It's a shame 2 of them are no longer with us. Johnny Cash is one of my favorites and Waylon is one of my wife's favorties. Between the two of us we have almost all of their music. I can even stand to listen to some of the country stars today. Have to have all the flash and glitz to cover up the fact that they can't sing. These 4 can perform solo or with a backup band.

  • @50sMusicMan

I'm sure there are some people who want to play at the same level as these giants here. At least i like to and i wont let anything stop me at that ambition, i hope others will still remember these heroes!

    Love your comment though

  • @50sMusicMan ok, your old, damn me too.you know there really was a trained called the city of new orleans.it was rolling thru a snow blizzard coming out of a tunnel when a avalance buried the train completely.all the town knew what it meant when it didn't show up,they heard the weather report.all the town folk turn out even a old steam eng with a plow on it.bitter cold.it was getting dark.when they heard crying they were standing on top of it.they started digging by hand an they were rescued.

  • @50sMusicMan your not the only one

  • @50sMusicMan Damn good I miss the guys so much!

  • @50sMusicMan Yeah, I remember being a young rednick kid listening to songs like this in my dad's truck waay back in the early to mid 80's. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. X(

  • @50sMusicMan: Still look at the videos. Before you tube it was impossible. So you feel young again. Well, it is in fact my favorit version of this song. Willy at its best.

  • 38 people deserve to be killed.

  • @kdawg16a 39 now unfortunately. People can't appreciate great music or great performers.

  • For posting this Slasheri have a great Christmas and an incredible new year,Gracias.

  • @angusthescribe - WATCH YOUR MOTHER AND SEE THE IGNORANT PIG

  • Honestly the first real super group of country music......

  • Hey, thanks for the feedback. Amazon.com does indeed have this concert on DVD and VHS formats. Pretty inexspensive too. The only drawback is that I see the DVD is formatted to run on "Region 2" European DVD device's. Meaning that alot of customers in the United States claim that the DVD won't play on U.S. players. I fired off e-mails to one seller and they have assured me thet their version will play in the U.S.. Should be here in a week and i'll leave a link to the page if it plays well.

  • i love you AMERICA

  • Blessed be to the incredible Steve Goodman! Hope his family gets residuals for this song!! He was a lovely soul!! Willie, Waylon, Cris and Johnny RULE!! Never thought I would appreciate this music so much as I grew up on Pink floyd, Ozzie, Alice cooper etc.!!

  • wille nelson is da man & I'm glad that his music makes my mind feel happy cuz there are some folks who never heard a willie nelson song & I kind feel sorry 4 them

  • go to amazon dvd is on there for about £15 or $25

    colin uk

  • reefer's rule !

  • I was born 20 years too late to enjoy them in real life together... It must have been a great concert - I know I would have gone completely crazy... Truly some of the best country ever made... R.I.P Waylon and Johnny

  • Wown this is just too much! thanks for sharing !!!!!

  • I am an Englishman and absolutely love this, I would love to have been at this one ,pass the paper bag that holds the bottle, Good Morning America How Are Ya, long live Willie Nelson

  • Heard Steve Goodman do his own song opening for Steve Martin (yes, the comedian) at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY. From his bantering with the audience, seemed like a good and humble man.

  • Go willie

  • Superb.

  • Willie for president 2012

  • not as good as Arlo Guthrie doing this, but still good. Love the Highwaymen, but Arlo did give the song a slightly better feel I think.

  • @captainamerica1a Arlo Guthrie did a great job but I love the French canadian harmonies in the background on the cd with Willie singing,,,I believe the tune was French and the words were written by two Americans riding on the train.....Myth!......well I'd like it to be true....I had the best seat in the house when he came to Liverpool.....absolutely wonderful.....A true American icon.

  • @tony00165 As far as I know, Steve Goodman write the song alone after riding on the City of New Orleans.

  • As good as Arlo Gentry's version

  • Waylon was about as high as a kite that night.

  • One of the best songs by the best quartet in history.

  • Get the DVD of the concert - it hardly costs anything certainly in the UK. Then wait until everyone is out of the house and play it at full volume on your widescreen. it just like being there.

  • love it

  • wow !!!!!

  • @STU676 If you don't enjoy this music then there is something wrong with you,

  • wonderful! Refreshing!

  • Definively:

The names are:Reggie Young (guitar); Mickey Raphael (harp, harmonica).

  • Det går ikke an å være så god!

  • Just great

  • Over 1 million views, absolutely no surprise!!

  • My Father Loved this Song!!!!

  • This right here is the country music I grew up on and love. This newer country is nothing more than cheap dime store music. I love seeing Willie Nelson every chance I get no way to replace him or any of the others.

  • Can't decide between this version and Arlo Guthries. One thing is for sure - Steve Goodman died too young!

  • I live in France. I was surprised to hear this song on the Nostalgia radio channel. It was Joe Dassens with the collaboration of Arlo Guthrie and, unfortunately, the lyrics were not translated, but entirely changed. While the musical is great, so are the lyrics, I have a hard time with the cheesy French substitutes.

  • having Willie Nelson play a kicked in guitar with what looks like 3 or 4 strings left, playing a solo as if nothing happened... priceless... these guys are the last of the country, folk, realistic singer/songwriters...EVER.

  • Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle. Good morning America how are you. Love those word,s this is world class stuff from world class performers

  • Johnny Cash once said: I can bet you can hear that lonesome whistle blow. That´s the sound America's dreams are made of.

  • @michaelcorleonepate Pity that some people have forgotten that :-(

  • @michaelcorleonepate Yeeeebouuuy

  • @michaelcorleonepate,,,,your right,,im in canada but its all the same i like it

  • @sca696 I'm from Germany. ;) I love this song, my favourite. I could almost cry everytime I hear it, so much melancholia in this song.
