its funny these guys have less muscle mass than most pro bodybuilders of 60s 70s 80s and certainly 90s and 2000s but they still manage to look far more epic looking with what they got
everybody thinks that juicing started with arnold's era. steroids have been around much longer than that and most of the guys in this video used them. just because you dont look like ronnie coleman or jay cutler doesnt mean youre not on steroids
this also was the last moments when physique shows were held in conjunction with lifting meets, so you could see their athleticism, not just their look
With all the information available like internet 90% of gym ppl can't achieve a body like those in this video 60 years ago without almost no science background!
John Grimek is the only guy I've ever seen with the innate grace to make that sword pose work. Here it looks great, but there are dozens of other examples where it just looks awful.
This is true bodybuilding... looking for the perfect proportions... not like our days, unfortunatly :( ... nowadays, they are too big and when i see the evolution of this sport on 50 or 60 years, i think what is this sport will be in 30 or 40 years? and later still?
===> funking freaks...
this guys were amazing !! it's all my inspiraton...
These guys are a another era than Arnold...This was the killing days of bodybuilding, when the juice came in. I have no problems with that but i'm still saying it.
This was a period between the 50s and middle 60s. Arnold came in the show 69 - 70s...
Anyone notice the guy at 2:10-to-2:19..... it is none other than Sean Connery, I''ve seen him in only 2 other photos talking about the early days of bodybuilding, anyway, these bodybuilders are a true testimony to the days before chemical abuse, not only that but they used the most basic of equipment such as simple cable pulleys, basic wood benches, dumbbells, barbells, ect. Clancy Ross was always my favorite, at 5'10" and 220 he was exceptionally strong even by todays standards, impressive
this is what i respect very little if any supplemetns and drugs were used. just think. without all of these drugs and what not jay cutler and flexwheeler and them would look nothing better than these guys. The only thing that separates todays bodybuilders from yesterdays is the amount of drugs they effortlessly pop into their mouth or have their moms shoot into their asses this is why bodybuilding is a laughing matter now Its a big fucking joke, you dont see it on tv because no one wants to see it
@alexisbrooke08 That's why bodybuilding should be a lifestyle, not a competitive sport, because there is nothing to compete with. We can all achieve peak fitness level by hard work, limited only by the nature. Some get more buff, some less, over that limit comes chemistry.
IMO, Eugene Sandow had better physiques then all of these guys and he was in his prime in the 1890s so we know he defitnately never took steroids. Alot of these guys look to smooth and not ripped apart from maybe Steve Reeves. I would say the best period for bodybuilding were the 60s and 70s. Big, ripped and symetrical in equal proportion
Steve Reeves was all natural-just good diet and hard exercise and by the way steriods were legal in the days of Arnold-you could go to a doctor and they would prescribe it to you-but they used about 5% of what the guys use today-thats why their bodies looked like statues of Greek Gods and todays guys are super massive
Originally steroid use was more cautious than later: Unknown, possibly negative side effects made old-school BBers nervous, but... They upped their doses a little bit every session, & by the time Arnold was Mr O, 5% was old news. Tho steroids were legal, old-school BBers are more dishonest about using than modern guys: "Using less" is just another lie they tell if they cant get away w/ complete denial. The big dif is that they didn't have GH, but GH makes you look like crap anyway.
can someone please tell me if steve reeves wrote a book about how to build a body like his i want to get into bodybuilding and i think he is a right person to learn from unlike all the liars and steroid users today .... so if someo0ne can please tell me if he wrote a book or if he wrote many if u cud give me the names coz i want to get all the information i can about this man bcoz i want to learn from him and if he made any videos of his training or teaching i would appretiate peoples help
Hey Joel0277, I do recall seeing a bodybuilding book by Steve Reeves awhile back, Reeves was on the cover doing an incline dumbell press using some heavy dumbells...I don't recall the name of his book.(Bodybuilding My way???) I would suggest that U check steve reeves websites and u will likely find it there
Superb and natural these guys used Mind and Body , nothing Fake or
chemical.
