  • coulda had a couple more if Tremblay didn't fuck with Roy

  • booooooooooooooo I grew up watching ken dryden rob the bruis(who drafted him!!!) of 4 stanley cups.....& the oilers 2 more in the 90's pop quiz how many & which team won the cup at the forum?

  • ...and then Mario Tremblay messed with Patrick Roy and the Habs have done jack shit since.

  • man, what a loss. GO KINGS!

  • Then Garry Bettman stepped in that exact same year.

  • MVP...Jacque Demers....that call with the illegal stick in game 2 was the turning point in this series...if the habs went down 2 to 0 going back to LA it would of been over...

Why would Mcsorley play with an illegal stick...the guy averaged 5 goals a season

  • And now, a 24th Stanley Cup banner, will hang from the rafters, of the famous Forum, in Montreal, and Canadiens win the Stanley Cup!

Doesn't get any better then that!

  • The Kings deserved to win way more than the Canadiens. We'll get Lord Stanley this year...

  • @connyluckirby9 LOL have fun...

  • @Jeeshgod2 don't have to be a douche. We have a good team this year, maybe not be Stanley Cup contender but we're by far not terrible, we have a Vezina quality goaltender. I'm going to laugh in all the faces of people that hate on the Kings and see how many band wagoners we get when we win that cup we've waited so long for. so on behalf of all the Kings fans SUCK OUR DICKS.

  • Still the last Canadian Stanley Cup Champion

  • my very first and all time favorite hockey memory within my lifetime (born in 1989) i always wonder what i would have done if i had never witnessed this magic or if patrick roy had played for another team at this point in time... ive been able to recount it since the age of four "and now a twenty-fourth stanley cup banner will hang from the rafters of the famous forum in montreal THE CANADIENS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!!" have it somewhere still on VHS.

  • @Vinnie7683 1993 Habs were not great team & never would have won Cup if Pens had not lost Game 7 shocker to Isles in 2nd round. That year 6 of 8 teams with home ice advantage lost in 1st round and 2 that advanced lost in next round. That said, Habs were solid squad on both sides of ice while LA was one of worst defensive teams ever to reach Cup Final. Weak defense always gets exposed at some point in playoffs (well, except 1991 & 1992 Pens but they had 8 future HOFs, 1993 Kings only had 4).

  • Habs 2 Boston 1

    Boston 2 - Habs 4.

  • "....there's the big shine...." Good lord is this Canada's team!

  • Oh, this gives me chills! #drivefor25!

  • GO HABS GO 2011/2012

  • "And now a 24th stanley cup banner will hang from the rafters of the famous forum in montreal, the canadiens win the stanley cup!" One of Bob Cole's Greatest Calls and that's coming from a leafs fan

  • A Canadian team has to win this year.

  • @wwe12665 : and its the team your watching right NOWWWWWWWWWW

  • WE GOTTA WIN THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up if you felt tears in ur eyes when watching this :'(

  • How ironic that Garry Bettman joined the NHL in 1993. That was the last Stanley Cup won in Canada. If he joined in 1992 Montreal would've never won the cup. Hockey is Canada's game it was proven in 2010 and almost in 2011 for a Canadian team.

  • when did they move to bell center?

  • @redsoxguy617 March 1996, first home game was against the Rangers.

  • i dont care who wins it i am a big habs fan but if they are out im going for any canadin team there is but not toronto well kinda them to because i just want a canadian team to win. I rember 2 years ago when i got to get a picture with the cup and i looked on it and most of the names where montreal so all habs fans make sure that this year our teams name will be on that cup one more time!

  • I can't see the Canadiens winning the Stanley Cup again anytime soon....

  • @OldCarsAreBest We'll see ;)

  • @OldCarsAreBest Why not, they were the only team to outplay Boston, the eventual winner of the Cup, pushing them to OT and essentially 1 goal IN Boston, while every other team didnt have a chance against the bruins.

  • @ThrowingBman Agree even the Canucks really didn't play that well against the Bruins. they were lucky it came down to the seventh and final game because they barely squeaked by in their wins in Vancouver.

I will say I think the Lightning deserve a little more credit. they gave Boston all they could handle and more.

  • Canucks and Habs are Canada's best teams even though the canucks lost this year they still have a strong team for next season. The Habs will probably go to the Final next year.

  • @Flipstazzz im still not over the cup loss...

  • Curse of St. Patrick will forever live on...

  • All the respect to the Canadiens over the years and what they have done but this year belonged to Boston 2011

  • @openedup09 despite my loyalty to the habs i must admit you're right, they battled harder for it. The bruins became stronger after beating the habs, it was their toughest opposition this year.

  • @mtlfinest123 You know the habs will be back again in the future. They always find ways. There like the Yankees and the Celtics.

  • @openedup09 We were one goal away from beating the bruins. If Markov, georges. desharnais and pacioretty are in shape next year, we are set.

  • i think this was gary bettman's first cup he handed out

  • Still the last Canadian team to win the cup!

  • @L00Kingsharp And will be the next.

  • @L00Kingsharp 5 times since 1993,a Canadian team appeared in the Stanley Cup Finals and nobody could have guessed that these 1993 Habs would be the last team to bring Lord Stanley north of the border.

  • Perhaps the Pittsburgh Penguins were expected by everybody to win their 3rd straight Stanley Cups in 1993,but they got too caught up in believing their own hype and that cockiness cost them the series agsinst the New York Islanders, who had no business even winning their first round series against Washington.

  • @landrykkb That's why it is so tough to win three straight - in any sport much less going for the Cup. In a sport like hockey you can't for one second begin to believe your own hype.

Note also that most of the Stanley Cup winners don't have the best regular season records. It means something in the Cup playoffs to actually be the underdog.

  • @VancouverChokers A lot of people have obviously forgotten that Montreal finished in 3rd place with 102 points in a highly competitive Adams Division,so it wasn't as if it was a total shock they won the Stanley Cup like announcers and prognosticators suggested that it was.Obviously,Pittsburgh,Boston,Detroit,Vancouver, and Chicago were all heavily favoured.but only 2 of those teams even got past the first round. Now in 1986,I'd be more inclined to call that one a surprise Cup win.

  • @landrykkb Agree, the Quebec series really did a lot for Montreal's confidence, just as beating Calgary did for Vancouver the next year and beating Vancouver did for Calgary in 2004 (probably the two best teams from Canada to play for the Cup since Montreal won it all in 93)

  • @VancouverChokers Quebec were a young team full of piss and vinegar who were inexperienced in the playoffs.

  • @landrykkb But still a very talented, good team who got an early two game lead and pushed the Habs to the brink. Canadiens caught lightning in a bottle starting in game 3 of that series unfortunately for the Nords.

  • @VancouverChokers of course, that experience along with a first round loss to the NY Rangers proved to be beneficial as they would win the Stanley Cup as the Colorado Avalanche just 3 years later.

  • At least Montreal hasn't didn't win a Stanley Cup this past decade!! Go Hawks!!

  • Canucks will take Stanley this year Or Washington Capitals!

  • 2:47 That shot braught a tear to my eye.

  • toronto sucksss

  • and now a 24th stanley cup banner will hang in the famous forum.........the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup!!!!!!!!!!!!

    goosebumps everytime.....amazing video!

  • french and gay

  • @redSHIFT69

    I know you are.

  • tears down my eyes

  • Bettman's worst nightmare might happen again this by giving it off to a canadian team. Talking about Vancouver.

  • @NebraskaFan77 One can only hope. :) He's probably thinking, "Once is enough."

I wonder if he gave a speech before giving out the trophies that year. It's not as bad s the NBA or NHL but I wonder if it's really needed.

  • ahhhhhhh, good times...

i remember playing NHL 94 and seeing the habs and kings as the default teams to pick from...its been a while.

  • Thank you Montreal on behalf of all Leaf fans for ruining the dreams of that little weasel piece of fucking shit Gretzky.

  • can someone help me and tell me the name of that song that starts at :35. as a kid I remember this song always played at the forum and it sounds like the organ is used at the end? what is it? the used to use the song on NHL 94 for sega when playing with Montreal?

  • to bad it didnt happn ever day

  • Going to elementary school in Southern Ontario as a Habs fan was tough. I'm lucky I didn't get the snot beaten out of me the day after this happened, especially with how much I was rubbing it in all day! I still can't help but think how much better it would have been if Toronto had beaten LA to be in the finals (and lose to Montreal of course)

  • "not so bad goaltender" it pains poor cole so much to admit Roy is even good, fucking leaf loser

  • @codo27 man you said it

  • To everyone posting about the top rated comment, this was the 100th anniversary of the stanley cup: 1893 - 1993 which existed pre-nhl. the habs won an amazing 24 championships in 100 years of its existence. they are the greatest franchise in the history of the NHL and the winning tradition will live on forever.

  • @bigbilly2006

listen this is 1993 and the 100th season was 2008 so ya.

  • @megarockstar1998 100th anniversary was 2009... December 4, 2009, we beat Boston :D

  • @megarockstar1998 no. 1993 was the 100th anniversary of the stanley cup. 1893-1993.

  • 2:13 wow look at gary bettman that was the first time he ever handed someone the cup... or is that gil stein?

  • this was the last time then canadian team won a stanley cup

  • this is one of my earliest childhood memories <3

  • ima diehard sharks fan here but montreal deserves 2 be being the best team in the league,if the sharks get lose in the playoffs and montreal still standing i'll root 4 them!but if it's sharks vs.montreal..well that's problem -_-'

    GO HABS

    GO SHARKS

  • Habs fan destroyed half the city right after victory lol ... GO HABS GO!!!!

  • if only Marty McSorley wasn't an idiot.

  • brought tears to my eyes...

  • I physically need this feeling before I die

  • Good memories, I was 11 at the time, my dad faked a dentist appointment to bring me to the parade in Montreal, it was a school day

  • Did you live in NDG??

  • @Barnakos i was 11 as well, and remember this like it was yesterday...everytime the habs would score a goal my friend who was also a big habs fan would call my house screaming his lungs out!....lol....GO HABS GO forever my fellow hab fan :)

  • i was 9 at this time had to listen to it on radio secretly lol

  • Brian Bellows!

  • Ce fut la seule fois où une équipe du Canada a gagnée la coupe sous le joug de Garry Bettman

  • epic

  • This was the year that McSorley used an "illegal stick" giving them a power play, to score.

  • I can't remember? Why was Denis Savard not dressed for this game? Injury of some kind??

  • @MegaWolfgang He was hurt I believe a wrist injury, But Mike Keane gave him his wrist band, signed by the team.

  • @belair55zz56 thank you. I just couldn't remember why.

  • @MegaWolfgang Yes, I do believe Denis was injured. But in a classy move, Guy hands it to him first after he initially picks it up.

  • to me, beside the Cup,beating the Kings and good old Gretzky in front of their fan and mostly some of the celebritys of Hollywood was orgasmic!!!

sorry Gringos ,but this aint a Hollywood movie and the "good guys" didnt win,no happy ending in hollywood when the habs are playing !

  • Roy was the difference in this series! He played on his head!

  • Well said mosmorg4n. I live in Montreal and I am a Canadiens fan -- but I am rational enough to say that there is a difference between what was then and what is now. I love the Canadiens franchise for their history -- they're in my heart. But in the present, I don't like some players and most importantly I REALLY don't like the organization. From transactions to talent scouting, they're doing a terrible job. It will take YEARS before this [my] team wins again... sad but true. :-/

  • GO HABS GO!

  • Go Montreal! =)

  • habs rule

  • From Game 3 of the first round, Patrick Roy was a wall in those playoffs.

  • I was only one. I wish they could win #25 soon so I can remember it better:)

  • can u imagine what it be like if they would win it in the bell centre....the roof would fuckin explode

  • How fitting that the Montreal Canadiens, one of the original NHL franchises, would win the Stanley Cup on its 100th anniversary season.

  • @bigbilly2006 the Habs didnt win the cup on their 100th anniversary season.....

  • @robdmhaze What I meant was the Stanley Cup's 100th anniversary season.

  • @bigbilly2006

They never won on their 100th anniversary?

  • @VhlVideos I was talking about the 100th anniversary of the Stanley Cup.

  • C'est dommage que nous n'avons pas joué le Leafs dans le final. Cet aurait été épique.

  • almost did it this year

  • Should have been a Leafs-Habs Stanley Cup final. Fucking Kerry Fraser.

  • @leafyutube I fully agree with you. I am a Montreal fan that was living in Toronto in 1993, and that would have been a series for the ages. Wayne cried like a baby after the final game, on national television, and I lost all respect for him.

  • @wclaurence

I remember that Gretzky interview. He looked like a bitter sore loser. I think he sort of lost his way after he was traded to L.A. He wasn't like that in his Edmonton days. He was shy and humble, and no hot dogging after scoring goals..

  • Ce moment inoubliable risquera de ce reproduire cette année . GO HABS GO <3

  • come on montreal! let's get er done this year!

  • this shivaguy doesn't know a single thing about hockey....ridiculous...lol...there's no point in trying to understand his ''point''...fans arroguant in mtl??..what about those in toronto that r worst but have no facts to back up their arrogance...if it wasn't from the habs fan their would be 4000 people in long island and so many other arenas...c'mon now stop taking credit from the habs this is sooo ridiculous

  • 1,2,3,4 CANA-DA deserves more MONEYYYY - I'M NOT YOUR BUDDY , FRIEND - HE's not your FRIEND , GUY .... I'm not your GUY , BUDDY - HE's not your BUDDY FRIEND ... I'm not your FRIEND - GUY - don't you see we have to stand together or else we have nothing........ WATCH ABOOT FLYERS / HABS

  • "They love that little guy."

  • @roboshuffle "yeah they do"

  • I truly believe now that this is the habs year again!

  • @knicksfan89 Did you ask the Flyers for permission >

  • @knicksfan89 I would like to see Vancouver vs Montreal I would't care who won I just want to see the stanley cup in Canada

  • @UncleSamProduction the two best teams in the league? totally. i'd prefer montreal won but vancouver would be okay with me too.

  • @cWoSeanIcon Lets just bring the cup to Canada

  • @knicksfan89 bro, this year is the Canucks year.

  • WOHAAAA ! That must've been the greatest moment EVER o-o Hope we see that again this year !

  • Why do the league owners keep Bettman?!? He's terrible for hockey . He must have some good dope on these guys.

    Get Bettman out!

  • cool 2010 the habs beat the current cup holders, not so hard to believe then will get the cup now.

  • @ragytagful I don't have anything against The Canadiens in particular although their fans can be arrogant at times. What I do have a problem with is the Eastern Conference, Eastern Conference=JOKE ! Look at East vs. West record. WEST IS BEST ! You're getting a free ride HABS Fans, if you get to the Finals the Sharks will eat you alive or The Hawks will light you up like a Christmas tree.

  • @shivakrishnarama

I dont really understand your post. The Eastern Conference is the home to the winner of the President's trophy for top team in the regular season, the Washington Capitals. It is also home to the defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins, who defeated the Red Wings (a Western conference team). The Habs had to go through both of those teams just to make it to the semis and you call that a "free ride"??? Interesting

  • @SeanMTL1 Pittsburgh was a shell of their former Stanley Cup selves. They got picked apart like many teams in today's cap era once they won the Cup. Gill, Scuderi, Whitney and Sydor all gone from their once formidable defence corps. Washington is a highly talented, prima dona team, in weak division hence the ability to rack up easy points and President's trophy.Stats back me up, the last 15 years West has 8 cups/East has 5 cups, the East has had to win in Game 7 in all but one of those victories.

  • @shivakrishnarama I am actually not even sure what the point is of playing the playoffs or the entire season for that matter. May as well just give the Cup to Chicago at this time. Why waste everyone's time

  • @SeanMTL1 One more thing. Team Canada, the best Team in the ENTIRE WORLD was composed of players 90% of whom were from the WEST.

  • @shivakrishnarama Ah I see. So I guess whichever team makes it out of the East had a free pass, now I get it. So I guess whomever wins the Cup in the West got a free pass as well, especially SJ, who had to face Colorado whose players are not even old enough to legally drink in the US, and the Red Wings, a team that is a shell of their former selves losing the likes of Hossa and Samuelsson. The Hawks had to defeat Nashville, big deal and Nucks who havent gotten to the third round in 16 years.

  • yayy habs won too!! 5-2, they slapped the penguins. go canadiens go!!!

  • Can miracles and magic happen 17 years later? Stay tuned. If they win this one tonight, anything can happen from there.

  • Allez Montreal!!

  • Same announcer (Bob Cole), same Bell Centre voice, same CUP! Stanley Cup 2010, here we come!

  • Fellow Canadiens.

Canucks are out. WE ALL FOR YOU MONTREAL CUP 2010!!!!!

  • HABS ARE GONNA WIN THEIR 25th STANLEY CUP!!!! :D

  • I believe...

  • I remember I litterally cried when they won :) This was one of the best moments of my childhood

  • Ket's do it again this year!!! Go Habs Go!

  • Looking back at the '93 playoffs, the two things that come to mind are Patrick Roy was awesome and the Islanders really had no business beating the Penguins that year. It made no sense, but that's why they play the games.

  • @TheWaviest I KNOW HOW THE HELL DO U BEAT THE DEFENDING TWO TIME CHAMPS AND LOSE THE HABS!!!!!!

  • At 2:49, was that Rocket Richard among the stands?

  • Wow nimporte quoi l'embiance pareil. si le canadien remporterais la coupe d'ici les prochaines années si sa arrive sque je crois même pas dans 20 ans sti de club a chier de calis ! siboire sa serait la folie !!

  • this was a montreal canadiens team not wut we have now

  • all these players will be dead and buried before another canadian team wins the stanley cup. Regina 2055!!!

  • @mynameisweiner Fuck you :)

  • @MTCanucksFan samething thing happened in 1993 from what my dad told me is that they had a hard time to get to the playoffs..no one thought they would have making it...and once in the playoffs they won almost every game to go to the stanley cup final

  • Guess Who Montreal had to play in 1993 in the first round of the play offs??? The Capitals. New york also did not make it that year to the play offs, and no one thought the Canadians would go all the way to Lord Stanley's Cup.

  • @sesostres1 They played the Nordiques in the first round

  • @sesostres1 Montreal NEVER played the Capitals in the playoffs. Let alone in1993. This year is the first.

  • GO HABS GO but dosent look like their gonna make it this year.

  • HA good one

  • Detail: those were the times when Montreal's siren had a long, long, dramatic sound !!! Too bad they narrowed it to just a few seconds...

  • Beautiful, can't wait for the 25th .. HABS IN 2010!!!

  • well that toilet seat got them over 20 cups. Not bad for a crapper

  • Comment removed

  • every time i hear that final line, it gives me chills n gets me emotional, i wish i could have been older to witness it

I want to relive that ! I'm still waiting !

  • i was born that very day

  • Sucks you aren't from Quebec!

  • Quebec is canadam Canada wiouth french is nothinhg but a god sucks the queen land.

  • yah hot chocolate, rubber tires, coffee cups disneyland

  • Does anyone know what's the name of the song played from 0:34 to 0:47? Thanks in advance!

  • Players back then played for love, not cash. Players back then and even before then played because they wanted to win the Stanley Cup more than anything else in their lives. Today players are pathetic and play for cash.
