Europeans tend to have very elaborate and personalised serves (Samsonov, Maze, Boll, Otcharov) while Asians tend to just throw the ball up, spin the ball a bit and get on with the game.

Painful to watch. You could see that Maze has a leg injury. Wang Hao could tell it too and didn't jerk him side to side. Class act Mr. Hao. Plus Maze no matter how bad it hurts still played too hard. He should have just played right pen hold so he wouldn't take it too serious.

The only reason Maze played was what ttaus3 said. He had to preserve his ranking in order to qualify for the Olympics and he did so by just showing up. He was still in the middle of his injury here.

You guys got to understand Maze just came off of a crazy knee injury that took him out of table tennis for over a year. That's why it appears he can't move well at all.

It's great to see Maze back and competing even though he's not even close to what he was before his injury. I just hope this injury will heal and not have him limping in points.

an astonishing game anyways, somehow there doesn't develop a certain pace or flow of game. mostly this is caused by maze's new return techniques. he worked on his backhand even further, which won him the ETTC title.

although his backhand is very good, he still lacks the forehand from his "not-injured-yet" days. especially in the middle of the table he plays way too much backhand, instead of steppin around and going for the kill with the forehand.
