Following the Soviet Collapse in 1991 several new nations in Central Asia are created. US oil companies bribe heads of state to secure the oil in these regions. These oil fields have an estimated $20 trillion. The problem is getting the oil out.
The only viable route is through Afghanistan.

@shartasticful I know. She was remarkably respectful, and unlike any other pundit I've seen, use all the correct military terminology. That alone is applaudable
To rolotomosy82....They were probably being nice because their CCT called a jdam on their position killing and injuring team members. It's in the book.
@orozcoyt With all due respect, I believe the CCT that he was referring to was the one who was inserted with Captain Amerine at the very beginning of their mission, Alex I believe is his name. The incident of Friendly Fire that you are referring to though came into place when their Headquarters Detachment with Fox, Bolduc, and Smith came into their Area of Operations and when trying to practice using the JDAM, accidentally called it onto their position instead.
What they don't tell you and the two men being interviewed should have brought up, is that an Air Force Combat controller was with them and was responsible for probably 99% of the Taliban's casualties. This due to his expert training in calling in air strikes. Combat controllers are also special forces.
its a cool story, but i read the book and was kind of dissapointed
